  1. That looks like a really sweet stadium.
  2. Yes, but my point was that a Milwaukee vs Chicago playoff series would be the biggest sporting event in the area in a very long time and would get a lot of attention nationwide. It would be great for Milwaukee baseball.
  3. How great would it be to have a Cubs vs Brewers playoff series?
  4. Ah so it looks like my guess was pretty close. And we have a 22.79% chance at the Wild Card so that's why I started this thread because it seems the Wild Card is a lot more realistic and those odds will only go up with the major injuries to St. Louis if we can stay healthy in our starting rotation.
  5. Yes and that fact that it would be weird for the Brewers to win the division this year would put the odds at about 5%. Russ, does that sound about right?
  6. A lot can happen because we aren't even to the halfway point, yet, but sorry for bringing up that our chances at the division are about 5% right now, so this thread will be dedicated to our chances at the Wild Card. Jeez.
  7. Yeah I would just let pitchers hit if they were stud hitters in HS and College and drafted as the possibility of being either/or. Otherwise, I couldn't really see that the injury risk would be work the benefit of having a .180 hitter over a .130 hitter. And I just threw those numbers out there. Who's to say giving them those extra AB's would even help.
  8. I'd have no problem with Escobar being our every day SS if Hardy goes on the DL. The guy can play and in my opinion he will be a better overall player than Hardy. It will be interesting to see if Escobar can develop a little more power, but he makes good contact and he already has as many walks at this point this year than he did all of last year. You have to like that kind of improvement out of one of your top prospects.
  9. That all depends on if Gamel can develop defensively. Gamel is Plan A right now and Green is Plan B if Gamel doesn't work out as our future 3B. If Gamel does work out at 3B, teams can always find spots for guys like Taylor Green if he hits his ceiling.
  10. Yeah I didn't think this injury really meant that much. You can cover up an injury to a LF a lot easier than to your #2 starting pitcher in Yo's case. They'll just throw DeRosa into LF and he'll overachieve like the rest of that piece of crap team.
  11. I agree with that. I didn't say the Cards and Marlins were doomed. I just said they were going to lose some games, which I was getting at the fact that they have a great chance to gain some ground right now with the upcoming homestand so they can be in a position to grind this out in September. If I had to pick a favorite between the Brewers, Cards, and Marlins at this point, I'd take the Brewers based on talent and experience. The Brewers had a pennant race last year so it's not like they are foreign to this. The problem with my assertion is that there are going to be many other teams involved like the Mets, Dodgers, and Braves who all have just about equal talent as the Brewers and are playing like complete crap right now, but will definitely all make runs at the Wild Card.
  12. I don't believe I said anything was wrong with Dillon. I was just commenting on Brawndo's love affair with the 30 year old minor leaguers having success. I really like Dillon as a pinch hitter and spot starter in the field. It's great that Dillon and DeFelice "learned how to play" and it shows that you can be an effective ball player if you stick with things even if you don't have the greatest talent, but usually those players turn out to be long relievers and utility players hence Dillon and DeFelice's status with the team. They're nice to talk about, but they couldn't make the big leagues for a long time for a reason. McClung is on the opposite end of the spectrum. He was the high talent guy who has been given every chance in the world because of his velocity, and since you can't teach something like that, you have to keep giving guys like chance just because they have a high ceiling hence why the Brewers gave McClung a chance over DeFelice in the starting rotation.
  13. I should be there Saturday at the football, I mean baseball game.
  14. Will this injury even cost the Cubs 3 games in the 6 weeks? What stat would we use to figure that out hypothetically?
  15. St. Louis lost to Cincy tonight. Florida is down 3-0 to the Phillies as well. Right now we are within 4 games of the wild card and it's our only realistic shot at this point to be playing in October. St. Louis is going to lose some games due to the major injuries and Florida is going to lose some games because they have very little experience. Let the wild card discussion begin! EDIT: Removed "Official" from the subject line --BtA
  16. I can see your argument for Villy as a better option, but the DiFelice one is a stretch. If you just look at pure stuff, I'll take McClung and his 96 mph fastball with a decent curveball. Do you have a thing for players with success in the minor leagues on the wrong side of 30 or something? (I believe I remember you being a Dillon fan as well)
  17. Whoever predicted this was a very smart man. AKA it was yours truly. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  18. I'd offer Hart a contract for about 5 years and 30 million. I think that would be a fair deal.
  19. I don't. The guy provides absolutely no analysis on the radio and is a high paid cheerleader for a historically pathetic team. I don't care if he was a good baseball player during the Civil War.
  20. Why am I supposed to believe such a statement from a Houston writer who has seen the Brewers a total of 9 times this year? Tom Handricourt has seen them almost every game and hasn't even reported anything of the sort. If you want to Small Sample Size alert someone, do it to Richard Justice for basing this off the one or two times he's ever been close to the clubhouse this year. What a weak way of saying a team has no chance to win the division. The Brewers have bigger problems than clubhouse chemistry. He could have at least talked about our bargain basement bottom of the rotation. Quite humorous.
  21. SWEET! This is payback to Cubs fans for laughing about Yovani Gallardo.
  22. I don't think you can say a team is a bigger rival just because you respect their fans more. The fact that we hate Cubs fans so much is all the more reason that it's a big rivalry. The fact that we tolerate Twins fans and somewhat like them makes them less of a rival in my opinion.
  23. If we don't gain some ground in the next few weeks on the Cards, we can kiss our season goodbye.
  24. Then how come the Brewers have the talent of an 85 win team and they are on track to win um.. 85 games? You saying that means that in the long run, Yost's decisions will cost the team and they really aren't any more than any other manager in baseball.
  25. That really doesn't bother me that I'm in the minority considering some of the greatest points made in human history started in the minority. I could come up with the "seriously compelling argument", but I'll just let this all play out and when the Brewers make the playoffs a couple times in the next few years, the study won't even be needed, because Ned Yost will have brought us to the playoffs and that will be something no other manager has done since some guy named Harvey Kuenn. That will be enough for me to think Yost is a good manager. Will it be good enough for you? Hypothetically?
