  1. It looked like he threw a nasty two seamer or something last night at 93. That's just unhittable.
  2. Ah, volume off at the bar. Thought he called it on Yelich.
  3. He's a lumbering first baseman. At least he can swing it. Both true. Haha
  4. Carrasco has a nasty breaking pitch. Really easy to say "just don't swing" from where we are sitting. I'd like to think guys are smart enough to know "I just swung at 2 crappy sliders, odds are a 3rd one is coming...don't swing" but apparently for Arcia that isn't the case. Obviously I am not a professional baseball player, but I was more speaking to the fact that he swung at a pitch that he probably shouldnt have swung at regardless. Since it was a 1-0 pitch I would have thought he/most hitters would be looking for something to drive, not something on the outer half of the plate to put in play. At 1-2 I would expect him to swing at that pitch, but not 1-0.
  5. Arcia...such a frustrating at bat. 1-0 and he swings at a curve ball low and away. Why aren't you looking for a pitch you can drive? Then proceeds to swing at the same pitch the next 2 pitches for a k. Just an awful at bat.
  6. Yeah he didn't work as assistant GM of the Astros. Assistants are yes men. Oh he learned how to operate a team no doubt, but there's something to be said for a guy who can draw on more than the last 8 or so years in the game. He was hired because he's a bright young guy with an Ivy League education, which is the current trend as teams look for the next Theo Epstein. Would you rather we hired a dumb guy that has been around the league for years and is in the same old rut? Also, funny that you contradicted your first comment by mentioning that he learned to operate a team... Edit: Just looked up Stearns' career(on wiki) and it says he's been involved with a professional team since 2007, so it's not like he doesnt have more experience than just the assistant GM position.
  7. Why do you think this? TV pitch track and my phone app had it hitting plenty of the plate. TV had it right on the edge, but the mark was right where it hit the glove, not where it crossed. Looked like it looped the plate to me Tv had it right down the middle. As did mlb.com. It was just a tough pitch.
  8. I wouldn't have minded seeing Aguilar for Villar, but I'm guessing with the Franklin injury CC didn't want to deplete the bench? I dunno.
  9. Nice grab by Yelich. Hader just hit 98...I remember earlier in the year I was worried because he was sitting around 92.
  10. That ball was hit well. Lindor beat him to the bag by at least 2 steps. A large chunk of the league gets doubled off on that. Try seeing through your villar bias... Right back from the break Rock called it a baserunning mistake. Trying seeing with your eyes open by watching the game To be fair...it was Rock saying it, so I'm not sure it was in fact a mistake.
  11. Are we sure that he didn't freeze? I obviously only saw him diving back into 2nd. He may have had a big secondary lead.
  12. I mean 4 WAR...pretty darn good I would say. We all probably have a different definition for the word though. WAR doesn't factor in the amount of times thrown out on the bases (SB or unforced), does it? According to a quick google search, it does.
  13. I'm shocked anyone still has any faith in Sogard. I know the options aren't great, but Sogard has been awful most of his career outside of a hot stretch last year. Sogard is still striking out at a 25% clip to go with his bad luck...but at some point you have to see some results. Even the eye test hurts when watching Sogard. I too would like to see Villar get a shot for an extended stretch.
  14. Not sure why. His WHIP is a little high, but he still supports a solid era and fip. I k ow era isn't the end all, but he has a 192 era+ for goodness sake. His problem, like most of our bullpen is that they walk too many. I think he's had 2(?) rough outings this year in like 17 innings. Small sample, but he shouldn't get any grief yet.
  15. Was Pina's good enough for you? I intended to write getting* yelich had a good cut, and Santana had one foul too.
