  1. Not surprising, been working that way for politicians for decades!
  2. I don't think anyone thinks that. But saving a couple million this year and having a better player in Renfroe on the team, and then next year having Renfroe instead of nothing for the buyout of JBJ certainly doesn't hurt. If they were going to figure out a way to get a big bat with JBJ and his contract on the books, then they will still be able to after this move. And additionally they have Renfroe on the field instead of JBJ. Just doesn't seem to be much of a downside to all of it in the short term. Well, hopefully Renfroe doesn't take the place of that big bat, and that is what worries me...
  3. I don't see how saving 2 million on JBJ's contract will allow us to suddenly sign a big bat. 2 million is nothing. I am for the trade, I just don't know how everyone is thinking we have all this extra money to play with now, and how that will translate into signing another BIG bat. That 2 million we are saving this year does pretty much nothing, and doesn't Renfro's arby just go up even more next season, providing us no savings in 2023 either. (on JBJ's contract)
  4. I've seen the idea of trading Wong here a lot recently. Man, that seems like a bad idea unless the return was super duper! He is a great lead-off guy, a wiz with the glove, and a great leader and teammate. Who leads off if we moved him? I'd like to keep him for 2022 myself...
  5. Actually, I think it was both, I don't think you can say one way or the other what role the prospects played in dumping JBJ's salary.
  6. You just need to step back and allow others to have opinions that differ from yours. There are good things about this trade, and there are bad things about this trade. Good: 1. JBJ is gone 2. frees up $, though it doesn't seem like much, maybe a couple million. 3. Renfroe has some pop, and will hit dingers. 3. JBJ is gone! Bad: 1. Both prospects we let go are good. Hard to let a legit 1B prospect go when we desperately need one, and have nothing else in the minors. 2. The $ we freed up by dumping JBJ doesn't amount to much, in fact, it is barely a factor. Not enough to add to the pot to get another quality bat, that's for sure. 3. Renfroe is an average outfielder, who strikes out a ton. 4. Tyrone Taylor will not get a real shot to prove himself, and will be relegated back to that 4th OF position. (I wanted him to get a full time gig to see what he could do) So before all you sunshine people start railing on people with differing opinions, please be aware that this deal is not an obvious win/win situation at this time. So stop with the lectures and acting surprised that other people might not see it the same as you... In the end, I am happy as hell that JBJ has taken his last AB as a Milwaukee Brewer!
  7. I would guess 99.99999% of us would feel the same way. It's disgusting.
  8. I highly doubt the Brewers have any plans to pay a reliever 6-7 million this season... In fact, I'd bet against it!

    Pizza

Sorry to hear that Julio, I can't imagine not being able to eat regular pizza. My daughter has been going through some issues and it is pretty much decided that she can't eat dairy or gluten. Real pizza is out for her, she found something in the frozen pizza section that didn't have either, and she said she took a bite, and threw the rest out in disgust. A pizza free life is not one I'd want to live...lol
  10. With the FA contracts we have seen to this point, it is 100% certain that Bryant is not going to be a Brewer for his next contract. Bet the farm on it!
  11. I know a lot of people have stopped watching "Walking Dead," but this last season has been excellent and engaging... I have always enjoyed it, and have watched since season one debuted, so I may not be a good judge, but I love the series, and so far, it is going out an a great note! I watch the spin-offs too, but don't like them as much as the original...
  12. The NBA playoff format sucks. I sincerely also hope we don't do this in MLB. Yuk.
  13. she was roving, so her job wasn't just in milwaukee. she traveled to all of the minor league affiliates to work with hitting coaches and players. Thanks for the clarification...

    Pizza

That reaction is a bit extreme. lol I enjoy what Pothole provides, and no, grease and disturbing amounts of cheese/toppings is not what I'm looking for. I don't think they are excessive at all, at least not on the pepperoni version, which is the only one I have tried. I think it's the perfect amount of sauce, cheese, and pepperoni, especially on a pizza for $4 after the buy one get one free offer the day after Packer victories.
  15. Yeah, if this team ever plans to spend, now is that time. We may never see starting pitching like this again. Even if it only means spending more money in our given window, it just needs to be done now. If not now, then it simply is never going to happen. This is the perfect time to go over and above what we normally do. By no means am I saying go out and give anyone 300 million, but to take advantage of our pitching, we will need to get some bats., which means we will have to loosen the purse strings.
  16. Vogelbach was easy to root for, but he just isn't a guy that takes us to the next level offensively. I think we saw the best that could be expected of him, but that just isn't enough. Best of luck to him!
  17. Man, I can't wait for the day we get rid of Manfred, what a clownshow MLB has become.
  18. Was she good at her job in Milwaukee? Serious question. I didn't see many hitters thriving under her guidance...
  19. How many utility guys do we want/need? At some point, we have to have starters, you know, good players who specialize at their position, who can actually hit. I can see 1 or 2 all over the field guys, but geez...

    Pizza

    No clue...
  21. I agree with brewers888 on this one. Water down the play offs with too many teams and the regular season means very little. I like the current number of teams in the playoffs, last thing I want to see is more playoff teams.
  22. Which is why I actually said that we need guys like this in my post... I think he was questioning your "easy to understand the disappointment" line. Getting mad about signing a guy like Brett Sullivan is akin to getting upset because your Hungry Man salisbury steak meal doesn't taste like a perfectly grilled ribeye. Why would it even cross your mind that it would? I'm not mad, or upset... Like I said, we need guys like this, nothing more than depth or filler...
  23. Which is why I actually said that we need guys like this in my post...
  24. It's easy to understand the disappointment when guys like this are signed. As a fan, it is really easy to understand why this type of signing doesn't make anyone giddy with excitement. Sadly, I have just become numb to this kind of signing, mostly because we need these kind of players, and then there is the more repetitive reason: - This is what we do. If people are still expecting to sign the top shelf guys, for literally hundreds of millions of dollars, then those same people will continue to be disappointed. Brewers facts of life.
  25. Which is exactly the reason we need to NOT trade our top notch pitching prospects from the minors. At this point, knowing full well we will lose Burnes and Woodruff in the near future, Ashby and Small are almost untouchable. We simply can't afford to trade them for the bats we desperately need.
