  1. Yup, that is exactly true. I emailed them to complain that a lot of people had already bought tickets, and had they known about the signed promotion, people would have bought that one instead. They got back to me, offering to replace my tickets and vouchers with the special signed bobble tickets but I'd have to pay the difference in ticket price. (signed promo was $89 per ticket) I passed because I didn't have tickets to begin with since I couldn't make that game. I was just annoyed that they offered that special ticket at the last minute, long after most already had tickets. They often do this fly by the seat of your pants crap for promotions. You'd think that a MLB team could do better...
  2. Nothing much to add to the thread really, had another successful auto Sunday yesterday. As always, was able to get almost all my 8x10s signed. Almost... They had 3 of their biggest names sitting at the "kids only" table. Harrison, Gatewood, and Diplan. I don't think that was the best planning to put 3 of the top guys at that table, but it is what it is... I do like the concept of the "kids only" table though, but having 3 guys like that there at the same time was inconvenient for those who were looking for those particular players. Those unfamiliar with what that means: They have a table set up that usually has 2 or 3 players signing for "kids only." lol No one else is allowed to get those players to sign. I am curious though what the age cut-off is. As usual, you have to wait in some lines longer due to the people who have players sign 10 or 12 cards all at the same time. I do not understand why the T-Rats don't put a limit on the number of items you can have signed at once. Limit it to one or two per person per trip in the line. If someone wants more items signed by certain players, make them go to the end of the line for each item. It is ridiculous to get behind 3 or 4 people with their card albums in hand, asking the player to sign them all. Talk about selfish people with no regard for how lines work. One kid (probably 16 years old) had at least 15 cards for Isan Diaz to sign. Diaz took it like a champ and signed them all. Same thing happened with Troy Stokes and Trent Clark (who by the way had the longest line, and he stuck around until every person got their stuff signed when all the other players headed into the locker room) Some of these guys are super nice and polite. Only two that I have seen all season that seem like they are being inconvenienced by being there are Monte Harrison and Stervyn Matos. (they acted like that last year too, so it seems to be the norm) If you watch Harrison on the field, you can see he is a prima donna in the way he acts, and that act plays out with the fans as well. He is usually pretty grumpy acting and doesn't want to chat. Not that he should have to do so, but the majority of the players at least act interested in what people say to them. David Denson is awesome when it comes to that. Matos is always distracted by something else, and often doesn't even look at the people he is signing for. Ok, that is all...
  3. That is going to be a tough one Brian. I have a source that said only 42 were signed for that promotion. They really went about that promotion all wrong. It seemed last minute and there wasn't a lot of time for anyone to even know about it. I got lucky, wish I had more to help you out...
  4. ...and don't forget his poor base running. How many times has he made critical base running errors already this season. He is becoming Gomez-esque in that department. Villar has been worth positive runs on the basepaths this year so really, he hasn't been poor on the basepaths. I'm using the eyeball and feeling stat... It sure seems like he makes stupid mistakes when we can least afford it.

  6. An obvious question to me is, why on earth do so many people feel the need to talk on the phone, hands on or hands off, while driving a car. I never do it, never. I sure as heck wouldn't even consider texting while driving. We have become so self-important, that we can't be away from human contact long enough to get in our cars and drive, and I find that sad. I feel I am at risk every time I get into my vehicle, and worse yet, I feel my family is at risk. About 2 weeks ago, I was waiting for traffic, and exiting a shopko express here in Appleton. A lady driving down the road in a black SUV was talking on her phone, probably doing about 35 mph. Right in front of me, and for no reason at all, she drove up onto the curb. DROVE RIGHT UP ONTO THE CURVE, where 20 seconds earlier, 3 people were walking down that sidewalk. She drove so far onto it that had she done it when those people were there, she would have hit at least two of them. This happened right in front of me, it would have been terrible. Throughout the entire situation, she remained on her phone, probably laughing to the person she was talking to about driving up on a curb. I can't tell you how much I wish a cop would have seen that. It disgusted me...
  7. but that was the norm last year, not this year...
  8. I'll drink to that... Those giant beards, like the guys who wear their hair like a woman, just do not look good on a baseball field.
  9. Probably because most people can not sit idle for more than 5 seconds without being engaged with their hand held devices, so my guess is that most people are on their phones. I must say, seeing the amount of people on their phones, and/or looking down at their phones while driving absolutely 100% disgusts me. People have become so selfish and self-absorbed that they no longer care about the safety of anyone around them. Cell phones are an addiction, possibly worse than any other addiction, mainly because everyone has one, and the majority of people I come into contact with can't separate themselves from them for more than a few minutes at a time...
  10. agreed, which is why I'd like to see Braun retire a Brewer...
  11. I think everyone is jumping the gun on Jeffress to this point. If he is putting these numbers up at the all star break, we might have something, but for now, it seems far too early to even suggest his trade value is as off the charts as some think...
  12. Stephen Strasburg - S - Nationals According to Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post, the Nationals and right-hander Stephen Strasburg have agreed to a "significant long-term extension." MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports that a seven-year deal worth $175 million. The deal also includes opt-outs. It's pretty shocking news, as Strasburg is represented by Scott Boras and was set to be the biggest name in a very weak class for free agent starting pitchers this winter. He likely could have fetched a bigger deal with a strong walk year, but the Nationals apparently did enough to keep him off the market. An official announcement is expected Tuesday. 13. With the news below, does this make it more likely the Nats would deal Giolito, or less likely? 14. That is an awful crowded OF (Denson primarily is used as a DH though) Wonder what they will do with playing time between Harrison, Stokes, Belonis and Clark? While I'm on the subject, using Denson as a DH most of the time doesn't make him any better defensively. For a National league team, this seems a curious situation.
  15. ...and while I'm at it, the Pottawatomie commercials are becoming unbearable. It is going to be a long season if they plan to play the same commercials over and over the entire summer...
  16. The constant plugs on FSN about the Andy Grammar concert at Miller Park. I have never heard of him, and the samples of his music they are playing in the commercial make me cringe. Today's pop music is just so bad.
  17. no, the only router... We have a modem that my computer is connected to, the router is connected to the modem. Connected to the router is a second computer. Am I saying this correctly? I am not a techie by any means, but I do know that the router is not working correctly any longer...
  18. If there ever was. He has been hitting incredibly well for his standards this early in a season. Just wait till he heats up in June/July, yikes. Scared the crap out of me last night when he took that foul ball straight in the mask... It could happen just that easily, one more concussion makes him damaged goods, which is why I am all for trading him as soon as the right offer comes down the pipe...
  19. I can't express enough how awful it is having an AAA affiliate in Colorado Springs. They can't get out of there soon enough. It doesn't make any sense for any MLB team besides the Rockies to have an affiliate in Colorado Springs. 1000% agree with this. I have no idea why anyone would go near that place with a minor league baseball team. Seems to do more damage than good to young pitchers.
  20. ...anyone have suggestions for a good inexpensive model? It will be used for wifi and a 2nd computer, not much else. Thanks in advance!
  21. it is already getting to the point of disgust when I see the same commercials being played over and over. That lawnmower commercial and all the ones about the playing and winning slots for free are just beyond irritating already.
  22. Agreed. Rock of course represented 'traditional' thinking, by pointing out how unusual it is to employ your best reliever to try to prevent a walk-off win. but he was right, it is unusual in today's game... I don't think he was criticizing CC for doing it, just commenting...
  23. I don't care what anyone says, I am enjoying this season so much more than last year!
