  1. Looks like the Royals are willing to part with him, might he be a good fit in Milwaukee? We could even consider moving Hunter Morris for him in a package deal. Since we have dealt with Ned and the Royals in the past, I wonder if this has been discussed? Jeff Blair of the Globe and Mail reports that the Blue Jays have discussed a trade with the Royals involving Billy Butler. Blair says Toronto would receive "prospects plus Butler," but the talks haven't "moved beyond the discussion stage." It's not clear what Kansas City would receive in the deal. With Edwin Encarnacion and Adam Lind already on the roster as first base/DH options, the Blue Jays seem likely to trade for Butler only if they can also deal Lind. Source: Jeff Blair on Twitter
  2. Given how poorly Gennett has hit vs lefties through his minor league career, it would be pretty hard for Weeks to do worse. Did you not see Weeks play last year? Oh yes, it could be worse, it could be a lot worse, and the thought of watching another season like Rickie had last year, even in a platoon situatuion, sickens me...
  3. Losing Fiers wouldn't even register on my disappointment scale... If that is all we have to give up, I'd be pleased, but that being said, I still want no part of Ike Davis.
  4. ...and if he sucks as part of this platoon everyone is mentioning, how long do we trot him out there, potentially costing us wins, before our manager finally wises up and benches him for good? I'm not a fan of Rickie being part of a platoon that our manager can't figure out isn't working until it is too late...
  5. Can Loney play another position besides 1B? I just can't see paying him that kind of money for 3 years, and blocking our youngsters from getting a chance...
  6. I think we'd rather give up prospects, deplete our farm system even more, than to pay out any cash... Just a matter of time now before Ike Davis is a Brewer..............................and Tyler Thornburg is a Met.
  7. Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel was told by a source that there is "nothing to" rumors of Rickie Weeks being traded to the Marlins. There were multiple reports late Wednesday night that the Marlins were looking into Weeks, but it's an odd fit since the club just signed Rafael Furcal to sign second base. The Brewers appear ready to give the starting second base job to Scooter Gennett, but it will be tough to move Weeks, who is owed $11 million next season and has a vesting option for 2015. Source: Tom Haudricourt on Twitter
  8. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Mets and Brewers are meeting Thursday regarding Ike Davis. Most executives are leaving Orlando following Thursday's Rule 5 Draft, but the Mets and Brewers are having another conversation about Davis before taking off. The Brewers remain interested in free agent first baseman James Loney, but with Logan Morrison and Corey Hart now off the board, a trade for Davis might be more attractive. The Pirates and Rays are the other known teams in the mix to acquire the 26-year-old. Source: Jon Heyman on Twitter
  9. Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish is hearing the Marlins have some interest in Rickie Weeks. Earlier this offseason Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Scooter Gennett is penciled in as the team's starting second baseman next season, so the 31-year-old Weeks looks to be on the outs. Weeks is due $11 million in 2014 and has a vesting option for 2015. There hasn't been much buzz that the team is shopping Weeks, but he could likely be had for the right offer. Source: Chris Cotillo on Twitter http://www.rotoworld.com/playernews/mlb/baseball?r=1 I would think that salary relief alone would motivate the Brewers to trade Rickie for just about anything they can get in return. Especially if it meant we didn't have to pay any of his contract. The team would sure have a different look without Weeks AND Hart...
  10. What does in-house entail? Because Francisco is one of few players (only player?) in baseball who strikes out more Reynolds. The difference being he doesn't have any of the upside. In-house entails: 1. Hunter Morris 2. Sean Halton 3. Jason Rogers I do not, nor will I consider Francisco as in-house. I just can't imagine having to watch that lazy bum for a full season.
  11. The more interested teams, the less likely we would have a shot. We'll never match the $ that other teams are throwing at these players. Sometimes it feels like there are a lot of players that are just plain untouchable by teams like the Brewers.
  12. Mark Reynolds is an absolute strike-out machine... Again, I'd rather go in-house than hire a guy like him.
  13. Desperation sometimes breeds stupidity... After losing his number one and number two options (Hart and Morrison, assuming Morrison was his number two option) I won't be surprised in the least bit to see Thornburg in a Mets uniform come opening day.
  14. Well, just because the Astros are in on him, doesn't mean we can't be... Pickings are getting slim, why not kick the tires and see what happens? I still think we can make due with our in-house options but it appears that the FO is bent on getting another body.
  15. Join me in punching holes in walls Turbo! Sounds like a plan, I'll be over when we get the news...
  16. If Thornburg is in a deal for Ike Davis...............I'm gonna........................well, I'm gonna....................I don't know what the heck I'll do, but I will be very sad...........and angry. Oh no, please no...
  17. Hello Ike Davis... I would imagine Doug is on the phone as I am typing this, giving away pitching that we can't afford to give away... UGGHHHH!
  18. Mariners picked up Morrison too? (I didn't want him but just sayin') This is unbelievable!!!!! Dougie got caught sleeping, that or he had planned on Davis all along... This sucks.
  19. According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, free agent slugger Corey Hart is "torn between re-signing with the Brewers and another club that may be the Mariners." CBS Sports' Jon Heyman confirms that Seattle has expressed serious interest. Hart loves Milwaukee and Milwaukee loves Hart, but the Mariners are spending big this winter and are probably capable of making him the most lucrative offer. The 31-year-old missed the entire 2013 season while recovering from surgery on both of his knees, but he had an .857 OPS between 2010-2012 and averaged 29 home runs per year during that span. 20. This is where all the updates come from: http://www.rotoworld.com/playernews/mlb/baseball-player-news If I post a link, the entire page shows up, so it isn't very link posting friendly.
  21. Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports that the Brewers "sound positioned to move quickly" on Ike Davis if they're unable to re-sign Corey Hart. Re-signing Hart appears to be the Brewers' first choice at first base, but Davis looks like their backup plan. If he could manage to re-discover his power stroke, Davis could take off at Miller Park. Martino says the Brew Crew has "done extensive background work on him." Hart is expected to make a decision as soon as Tuesday night, so we could find out soon whether Davis is a fit in Milwaukee. Source: Andy Martino on Twitter CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Brewers are "working to try to secure a return" of Corey Hart. Adam McCalvy of MLB.com has reported that Hart could make a decision as soon as Tuesday night, and Jim Duquette of SiriusXM has reported that the Brewers are now out on Ike Davis, who was viewed as the club's backup plan. In other words, things are trending towards Hart re-signing with the Brew Crew soon. An announcement could be forthcoming. Source: Jon Heyman on Twitter
  22. I agree with this to an extent, but I am in absolute fear of what Melvin will give up for Davis in panic mode if we don't get Hart... I just don't trust his judgement sometimes...If we give up anything other than minor league fodder, it tells you just what the organization truly thinks of Morris and Rogers... Just sign Hart already, and hope that when his 1 or 2 year deal is up, one of Morris, Halton, or Rogers is ready to take over... Why add another player in our already full log jam at 1B in the minors unless Doug does not feel they will cut it at the big league level? I'd hate to have Davis blocking one of our other guys for 2 or 3 years just because he is on our roster and we had to overpay to get him.
  23. I think I undersold the 78 and 80 set.. I have done business with the board member who bought them before, so I think I gave him a good deal at $50 each set... I really had no use for them, and it makes me glad knowing that a collector now has them... I'll post a list of what else my Dad has after Christmas. I know some of the 80's and 90's sets won't get $50 each. Some are more desirable than others due to certain rookie cards, etc...
  24. Thank goodness. Thornburg for Ike Davis would have been depressing. Oh my, that would have done it for me, the boycott would have been on until Doug was fired had he given up Thornburg in a Davis deal... *yikes*
