  1. I agree the team will be better off if they can add Cobb especially to increase the depth and the cushion for another injury. I have trouble understanding why woodruff just seems to get brushed aside as a solid 4/5 option for us. He's a consensus top 100 prospect who has 8 major league starts under his belt, in which 6 were good to great. I really think that if he had a routine 6ip, 3er start his last start of the year last year, people on here would have him locked into the rotation. It's time for him to be part of the rotation
  2. I think Anderson Davies chacin woodruff and suter will be a quality rotation until we can add Nelson back by June something
  3. With Miley last year, it was kinda 5 starts in the middle of the season that were awful, it wasn't really every 4th start that was bad, he had one awful month in like June early July.
  4. All this being said, I do agree that Cobb would be a wise pickup, I just don't feel it's sign Cobb or bust
  5. I'm ok with my teams 5th stsrter having quality starts 3/4 of the time. The blowup games would be losses either way 1/4 of the time for any teams 5th stsrter. The Brewers are gonna get blown out 10-20 times no matter what. Those just happen. I'll take 3.78 from my 5th starter
  6. I posted earlier in some thread, they all run together this : 25 starts for Miley last year, 3.78 era, His other 7 did him in with a 17.08 era His era after 11 starts was 2.82
  7. Suter is an upgrade on Garza, so is woodruff. Miley would just have to do better than peralta, milone st al
  8. I see your Jimmy Nelson rehab and raise you 36 starts from Garza, peralta, milone, blaze, Espino This is why I say pitching stayed about the same, not better, the same
  9. The Brewers went 86-76 last year despite losing way more games in which the winner was determined late than they won. I'm not sure of the number but I think they went like 8-18 in games in which the winner was established in the 7th inning or later. The team was not smoke and mirrors last year Catching stayed the same Infield stayed the same Outfield improved both offensive and defensively Bullpen stayed the same Starters stayed about the same Team will be good Best case : 92 wins Worst case : maybe 80
  10. Peter gammons posted something today I saw on bleached report, where milwaukee is rates the 10th best rotation in baseball. I need to find the exact post and source but our starting pitch in will be fine.
  11. My sense from a number in this threas: Add Cobb.: Brewers go 92-70 Don't add Cobb : Brewers go 72-90 The first ever 20 WAR player More likely scenario: Add Cobb : Brewers go 89-73 No Cobb : Brewers go 88-74
  12. It is amazing how many pessimists and experts are on this board.
  13. For the most part this year, the team's with well above 500 records are the teams expected to be good. And the team's under 500 are the ones not expected to be good. So I'd say it's at least encouraging.
  14. That wasn't meant to put value on Miley, as opposed to show that even with a pretty bad starting pitcher, a mediocre team still went almost 500
  15. He had a 3.00 whip in his 7 awful starts He had a 1.50 whip in his other 25. Not ideal but more reasonable for a 5th stsrter and if he just removes 25 walks it drops to around 1.35
  16. To follow up, the Orioles went 15-17 in his games started. And that's with them losing the last 5 he started in September, so 15-12 thru August. A 500 team record is just fine from a 5th starter.
  17. Just some research on mileys season last year. He had a 2.82 era thurs his first 11 starts. He had 7 awful starts with an era of 17.08 He had 25 great to ok starts with an era of 3.78 If he ends up in the rotation and 75 % of his starts are great to ok, would we accept that?? I think I would
  18. 7 starts in NL ballparks in his career, 46.2 innings, 24 hits, 7 runs, 8 walks, 38 ks
  19. I will get no satisfaction if the Cubs sign Darvish for a couple extra million dollars than they wanted. The Cubs won't care one bit and it will not have any significant long term affect on their future
  20. I get a sense that if the brewers land archer, Darvish will come. If we trade for him, he will come.
  21. We may not get him, but we aren't just in this to raise the offer. I truly believe this team is in it for as much as they can do. I don't think they will let a few million a year deter them from getting Darvish .
  22. Is it possible that the "he prefers to play in LA", or "the cubs and rangers are in", are decoys to get the brewers offer up?? Maybe we are the top dog in this race for a change??
  23. High heats comment is quite intriguing
