  1. Good, it is the unions fault for the most part.
  2. Those leagues also realized that player movement is great for the sport and adds to interest in the offseason. MLB Owners from time immemorial are all about how much control they can have over the players and only want to see a player leave on the Owner's terms. Player movement is great for a sport when all teams are starting with the same general pot to start from. That is the case in football , and nowhere near the case in baseball, so they must limit the ease of free agency to counter that
  3. Every single concern of the players was addressed in this proposal. More money for younger players. Check Large increase in minimum salaries At least 30 million in extra cash for the best of them The concern that some teams tank. Check Lottery style draft for the first 5 picks More playoff teams Service time manipulation. Check Guaranteed a year if service for anybody finishing in the top 2 in Roy voting And general concerns, Check No draft pick compensation No increase in the taxes for going over the threshold 10 million increase in the threshold itself I think the agents got in the ear of the players and put the kibosh on this before they agreed to it. Why do we care if owners make a ton of money, that’s great for the team, and the fans and the city if they do. The players are not just entitled to some specific portion of it. A few clubs at the bottom do need to do a better job of spending shared cash, but most payrolls are right where they should be when you consider the market size.
  4. 2021 : 570k minimum salary 2022 : 700k 2021 : no bonus pool in existence for younger talented player 2022 : 30 million set aside for those players 2021: 210million threshold for cbt taxes to kick in 2022 : 220 million 2021 : 15 dh full time jobs 2022 : 30 2021 : regular old style draft 2022 : top 5 picks are determined by lottery 2021 : draft picks are tied to some free agent signings 2022 : no draft picks tied 2021 : top 2 in Roy voting get nothing for that 2022 : top 2 get an automatic full year of service 2021 : 10 teams in the playoffs 2022 : 12 teams in the playoffs Sounds like a reasonable move to help the younger players get more early money and to protect them from some service time manipulation I understand that players salaries haven't increased that much over the last few years, but a lot of that has to do with the new modern way of evaluating talent and its dollar worth This league is for us, not for the players.
  5. There are a decent amount of proposals that have gone in the players favor this go around. maybe it's not enough, but they are there. 1. Universal DH adds 15 full time jobs 2. The first so many picks in the draft will be in a lottery (4-7) 3. No more draft pick compensation for free agent signings 4. The general agreement to have a bonus pool for pre arby players, that has never been part of any CBA before 5. An agreement to increase minimum salaries, these can and should be greatly increased imo The only one I've seen that benefits the owners is the likely increase in playoff teams There may be some others that I'm forgetting but there is more movement in the favor of the players as opposed to the owners. maybe not enough, but its there
  6. As time goes by, I am more convinced that the Astros should have been banned from postseason play for 2 or 3 seasons. They truly were not competitively punished for making a mockery of the game that we all love.
  7. I think a lot of the time taken in between pitches lately can be attributed to the Astros cheating scandal. Pitchers and teams seem to be afraid of having their signs stolen in unconventional ways that they spend extra time with sign cards under the bills of their caps and multiple sign sequences. I’m a believer that more of a hammer needed to be handed down on the Astros to assure that that kind of thing doesn’t happen again. Punishment like player suspensions and postseason bans should have been the route the league took. In the grand scheme of things, the team wasn’t actually punished in any significant way.
  8. Well stated, I likely won’t watch a pitch
  9. Angels would accept that really quick but not sure how this helps the Brewers. Would need a lot more just for Woodruff alone. JBJ may have negative value but not that much negative value where he would be basically cancelling out Hader the same with Hiura. Hiura is basically a neutral value as he is still pre-arb. In order for this deal to work the Angels would have to add in a lot more like Marsh, Detmers and Sandoval more. Well, that would be their other player or two
  10. How about : Woodruff Hiura Hader Jbj To the Angels Jared Walsh Jo Adell Maybe another player or two To the Brewers
  11. Have the Brewers had anybody in scoring position yet in this series corrected, Once with two outs in the bottom of the 8th yesterday
  12. Lets get that chant going nice and loud at the game today. Make sure there’s no mistaking it.
  13. I honestly think this will be the first game in Milwaukee history where they play a game with a clinched playoff spot and nothing to play for. Even in 2011, they clinched the division with 5 or so games left, but they didn’t clinch the 2 seed over Arizona until the last day. 1982, 2008, 2018, 2019, 2020 all had things to play for on the last day. The only one I, not sure of would be the weird 1981 Half and half season
  14. That reminds me of Curt LetsPanic
  15. If we couldn’t score against freakin Lester and Woodford then how are we going to do anything against Mikolas and Wainwright? We’ll be lucky to get one of these next two. Mikolas has been an effective starting pitcher in the past. But he hasn't been good this year since coming off the IL. And if they get one of the next two, that reduces the magic number to 1. That means they would have to win one of their final 10. Or the Cardinals would have to lose one of their final 10. I don't think its quite time to step onto the ledge. I fully agree, got to win one of these last two, that’s why I feel tomorrow’s game is kind of important, cause a win against them logistically wraps it up. But losing both keeps the slog going
  16. I guess for me, it’s some disappointment. The team gave us the sense that we could relax the last three weeks of the season after the Cleveland series, that it was all but over and the clinching will likely happen during the Cubs series, and then we could all sit back and watch baseball for fun for a few weeks. But 9 of the 21 days have passed and we have barely inched closer to the goal, and it won’t happen on day 10 either. I agree it’s almost a certainty it will happen, but we all wanted and expected it to be done days ago
  17. Nah, they really can't. This series has been frustrating, but it would take a historically epic collapse the likes of which have never been seen in MLB history for what you are suggesting to even come close to happening. And if that sort of collapse were to occur, then at that point I’ll tip my hat to the Cardinals and come to terms with the fact the Brewers have no one to blame but themselves. We’re a looooooong way from that possibility becoming reality, however, so I’ll continue to not obsess over it. Did anyone think 9 days ago that the Brewers would go 2-5 and the Cardinals go 8-0 The chances are very remote, I agree, but this is the last 12 days of the season, and 8 of our 11 games are against the Cards and Dodgers. Each day that passes brings it tighter and tighter
  18. For who? The Cardinals and Brewers are basically locked into their respective playoff spots now. Cardinals take the last two from us Then we lose 2 of 3 to the Mets and the Cards take 3 of 4 from the Cubs Then the Cards sweep us in Stl Then we go into the last weekend at LA and they host the Cubs, only up 3 games It’s very unlikely , but it is not a crazy set of outcomes
  19. …and if not that one, then the next day! In all seriousness if they can win one game in this series then I’m pretty confident they’ll still clinch the division with more than a week to go in the season. My point is if the Cardinals win tomorrow, they can start thinking mildly about the division by winning Thursday .
  20. They better win one of the next two, cause if this gets to 8 1/2 games going into Thursday, the cardinals will actually say “why not go for it all”
  21. Of course, but there's no guarantee either team loses a game in the series, therefore no effect on the magic number. If the Padres or Cardinals sweep the number is still 5 on the sweeping team. Yes, but when I posted this, the Padres hadn’t lost yet last night, so theirs and the Cards number was 5, so therefore guaranteed to move to 4 for one of them
