  1. We don't know that MLB's process is being reviewed. We know (or think we know) that Braun tested positive for something, is facing suspension and is appealing those findings. Him. Directly. The guy that by all accounts can't wait to address this. If there's some kind of rule in place that says "the news isn't Braun's to announce" I'd like some kind of confirmation regarding that rule. Otherwise I just don't understand why you seem to think that you get to decide what Braun can and cannot say or do.
  2. The news isn't Braun's to announce, Why isn't it? Braun's reputation is the one at stake as well as a good portion of his personal revenue, both now and going forward. It's as much "his" as it is anyone else's. Perhaps it will be as others have suggested- Braun is cleared and MLB says nothing, as there is then technically nothing for them to announce. Is Braun then supposed to do nothing and say nothing? I just don't see that happening.
  3. If anyone finds any info about what this means for us Charter Cable subscribers in outlying areas I would greatly appreciate you posting it here. I looked around best I could but found squat.
  4. This what I was alluding to on the previous page, although not as well said.
  5. You mean like wind speed, noise level, etc? Not trying to be a wise guy, and maybe I don't understand the complete dynamics of the tests, but I just don't understand what conditions could be variable from test to test. Variables like a cortisone shot to the knee, or a synthetic steroid like (I think) medrol, prednisone for any number of reasons, combinations of other legal drugs, certain foods, supplements, etc. I would think that if Braun's team can show the same weird result through strictly legal things, MLB would then almost have to run those same tests. All of which takes time. Or maybe they're eating ice cream.
  6. Perhaps the length of time involved here has to do with further and/or more precise testing, not only to Braun's sample, but to the 2 "mystery Brewers'" samples as well. Possibly even further sampling of Braun in an attempt to recreate the exact conditions present at the time of the failed test.
  7. I don't think he has to turn his neck any more. He's had enough balls leave the field stadium zip code that he can tell without looking.
  8. I was estranged from my dad for nearly 30 years. When he was diagnosed with cancer, we reconnected and had a short 6 months. I wouldn't trade those 6 months for anything. There comes a time when all involved have to realize that all involved bear at least some responsibility for failed familial relationships and get past it. I hope that Prince and Cecil reconnect at some point. I miss my dad.
  9. I fully expect MLB to throw a lab, and possibly one or more lab employees, under the proverbial bus at the end of this no matter which way it goes.
  10. The Houston We-Got-Hit-By-The-Light-Rails? Having been cut-off by people in cars thousands of times over the years, this does my heart good. I'm sure the first words out of the errant drivers' mouths were "But officer, I never saw it".
  11. According to this, Rickie's ankle is not yet 100% but at least it's close. I hope it's close. A healthy Rickie is a good thing.
  12. Player of the Year: Ryan Braun, with or without suspension. With Prince's departure Braun assumes more of a leadership role, making the Brewers undeniably "his" team. Numbers, as always, will be there. Pitcher of the Year: Yovani Gallardo. A second consecutive year in which Yo doesn't feel like he has to carry the entire staff, coupled with the improved defense behind him, add up to a monster year for Yo.Rookie of the Year: Aoki. I'm not sure Gamel's eligible, and even if he is I just don't have a lot of faith in him. This lack of faith is admittedly baseless, but it's there nonetheless. Most Improved Player: Jonathan Lucroy. Now that his first full season is behind him I look for his defense to show marked improvement; more specifically, improvement in throwing out base runners.Biggest Disappointment: Gamel. I hope I'm proven wrong here, but just not feeling it.Questions:1) Who will get the first contract extension? Zack Greinke.2) Who will be the first traded away or released (off the expected 25 man roster)? K-Rod. Some team out there will find themselves wanting or needing an established closer and that want/need will make them willing to give up value in return. I thought about Kottaras here as well, but he may very well still be Wolf's "personal catcher." 3) What position in the NL Central will the Brewers finish? First. The combined losses of Albert, TLR & Duncan will be too much for the Classies and I'm just not sold on Cincinatti.RECORD:93/69
  13. From everything I've read, the MLB guy always goes against the player and the Union guy always goes with the player, essentially leaving the entire decision up to the arbiter. Seems like a lot to put on one person. I would think the panel should consist of 3 third-party arbiters for a total of 5 people in hopes of increasing the odds of correct and impartial findings. It may serve only to complicate things even further, but it just seems to me that this would be more fair. Thoughts?
  14. Were any of those guys as athletic as Prince is? I'm asking because I don't know, not to be snarky. Prince is a far better athlete than most people of his body type and I can't help but think that that will allow him to age better than most people of his body type.
  15. This makes me happy.
  16. Marcum. As soon as he hit the wall last year there was great wailing and gnashing of teeth. If he gets off to a rough start, hate and discontent will likely be the order of the day.
  17. Milwaukee would work for me. Madison maybe, but it would be a stretch. Lake Geneva, anyone?
  18. Or for Braun to slip up. Maybe he used to get tips before he would be tested. Maybe he used a fast-acting topical testosterone like Victor Conte mentioned and used it too close to this test and he got caught. It didn't have to be an advance in the testing system to have him get caught this time. I personally think that's the most probable explanation, far more believable than the story that the Braun people are feeding the media. What story is that? I've heard no specifics at all. Did I miss something?
  19. Excellent explanation, Igor. That makes more sense for me.
  20. I just can't buy it as fact. If it were indeed fact the Brewers 2011 total team WAR would be exactly 6 greater than that of the Cards, 17 greater than that of the Reds, 24 greater than that of the Pirates, etc. I'd be willing to bet that those numbers just won't add up. I'm far too lazy to even attempt it, especially when considering the required extrapolation of the numbers for part time players, but it might make a nice project for one of our numbers guys.
  21. The new hair makes him look even more like Brendan Fraser in Encino Man.
  22. Marcum talking about Prince on SiriusXM radio. Nothing Earth shattering, but just enough to "keep hope alive" for those that may still be hoping for the smallest chance that Prince will be back. I'm one of those. I'll keep hoping until he actually signs elsewhere.
  23. I can understand the TMZ thing. Not everyone has Internet access as hard as that is to believe sometimes.
  24. Doc, Thanks for the wakeup call as it were. It wasn't meant to be insulting, and it was a very poor choice of words. The point I was trying to make is that when a new drug hits the market, it sometimes takes some time before many doctors are "up to speed" on that drug, which is only natural. There are only so many hours in a day.
