  1. I stand corrected (as usual). And the guy on the Pirate's board that called Braun a "pip-squeak" must not have ever seen that pic. Braun is just ripped!
  2. I think he was untucking it coming around first. And as others have said, Braun didn't show anyone up or anything, he was just super-excited (as he should have been).
  3. I agree 100%. Unfortunately, I tend to "talk like a sailor" in the real world, but there's no place for it here. Kudos to the site moderators for keeping this place on track.
  4. I despise WMLW. I get it on channels 08 & 318, and both are in black and white and really fuzzy right now. Every other channel is just fine. A pox on them, I say.
  5. If Braun gets drilled tonight, I would think all types of chaos and mayhem would break out. I wonder if maybe Bush will drill their leadoff hitter with the first pitch of the game, take the warning, and move on? Edit: A first-pich drilling could also prevent further shenanigans by the Pirates.
  6. My wife appreciates every little thing I ever do for her. I guess I'm just really lucky. If I told you guys how good I've got it here, I fear I would be reviled and pelted with turnips or the like.
  7. Do that big project on your "Honey-do" list that you've been putting off for way too long. You'll be a hero, and said "hero-ness" will buy you far more than 10 days worth of good-tv watching/pizza eating/cigar smoking/farting in bed priviledges. Your choice: 10 days of man-piggery (which is good), or 10 days of do-goodery (meh) that could net 10 weeks, maybe even 10 months, of wife endorsed total swinehood. Pick your battles. Choose wisely. Crazy Old Man is wise.
  8. Really? Not being able to throw strikes makes him mentally soft? Was he mentally tough last year when he had his very good stretch? Parra seems to have a "deer in the headlights" look about him when he's on the mound. I don't know if that's just his natural facial expression, or if he's praying on every pitch. He doesn't seem to exude the same confidence as Yo does, for instance. I don't know that that makes him "mentally soft," but I've noticed it every time he pitches, and I find it just a little disturbing.
  9. I'm with those that really don't care about her looks. She was fantastic as our sideline reporter and will be sorely missed. Although her "girl next door" look possibly added to her charm somewhat.
  10. I'll have to check with the wife and make sure we're in town and have nothing else already planned, but I'd love to get in on this.
  11. I agree with this wholeheartedly.
  12. I saw that as well, and I think there may be some merit to it. During the Cubs series, with all the talk of how Fukudome pretty much plays year-round, and is always such a "fast starter," I got to thinking; perhaps it isn't that Fukudome is any better in the beginning of the season, perhaps it's that he starts the year as good as he's going to get, while the rest of the league takes a while to get up to speed.
  13. I would like to nominate that for "Quote of the Week."
  14. I have to chime in with this. After watching last night's game on ESPN, I have a new-found appreciation for our local FSN broadcasts. Not only are Brian and Bill much easier to listen to than those 3 clowns last night, but in my humble opinion, the production in general is better on FSN. I really did not care for some of the camera angles last night. The view of a pitch coming in from the camera behind and above the batter was just awful in my opinion. Of course, maybe that's just me. Perhaps others liked that view.
  15. Thanks, Pedro! I sent a PM. In your spirit, and in your honor, I'm sending out a box of Harley parts tomorrow to a guy I never met that crashed his bike and can't afford to fix it. What goes around comes around.
  16. Very good points on "hits for average" vs "plate discipline." I stand corrected.
  17. I would think "hits for average" couldn't really happen without good plate discipline.
  18. But if they update the bathrooms where will the drunken frat-boys bodysurf? There is absolutely NO Youtube video better than that of a drunken Cubs fan gloriously skimming across a river of urine. Bar none.
  19. That, Ms Hawing, is beautiful; simply beautiful.
  20. Thanks!
  21. I often hear about someone being a "5 tool player" and I'm not 100% sure what that means. My best guess is: Hit for power Hit for average Good defender Good arm Good speed Is this right? If not, please clue me in. Thanks.
  22. I wasn't at the game, but it sure was great to see Rickie come up big in so many ways today. I just love the guy's hustle and hard work. Attaboy, Weeks!
  23. I agree. I also think no base should be awarded if the ball is clearly over the plate and the hitter leans into it.
  24. I'd really, really like the Damien Miller bobble. He's one of my alltime favorite Brewers! And thanks for yet another great display of your generosity.
  25. 16-6. The Crew will come out smokin'. And yes, I do know that this is somewhat irrational. I'm a crazy old man. Irrational is what we do.
