  1. It may be best right now, but its definitely not the best for the future. I don't think 20-25 innings over the limit for Yo is worth risking his arm. Not to mention Yo's arm seems extremely tired and he's pitched like crap the for quite a while.
  2. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/roll.gif That is pretty darn good.
  3. Jenks has been as hot as anyone for a couple of weeks now.
  4. Here's to hoping Bill and Rickie staying hot. The prospect of Weeks finally hitting well seems too good to be true.
  5. I must say the Corey Hart - Chewbacca comparison is pretty darn good.
  6. I second the notion of Brewers being patient with DD tonight. I wouldn't having him walk 4 guys and then got hammered and taken out in the 4th. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/wink.gif
  7. Actually, there IS a lot of baseball left. About a quarter of the season, which is huge in baseball. 41 games is still a ton games to play. Anything can happen during that time, either we continue to stink and go 15-26, or we could get hot and go 26-15 and have a very good shot at the playoffs.
  8. It's pissing me off the ways Ned Yost gets bashed. I do my fair share of questioning some of his decisions, but the things that people blame him for are ridiculous. For example, on 1250 the past couple days I've heard it was Ned's fault for Hall's struggles becuase he put him batting cleanup and put to much pressure on him. Also that in our 12-4 lost yesterday where cappy stunk the reason we lost was becuase of the batting order change. People bash him for putting in a reliever who's done great and then has one bad outing. I'm getting pretty tired of it.
  9. Vargas, please don't suck today. That would be really, really nice. Honestly, I'd be happy with 5 innings, and 4 or less runs.
  10. 3 of Soups last 5 starts were better than 5-6 innings 3-4 runs at best. Those 3 starts: 6 IP 2 ER 6.1 IP 2 ER 5.2 IP 1 ER His last 5 starts he has and ERA of 4.18. To just say at their best that's all the can do is pretty far off.
  11. Gallardo 5.05 (7) ??? What I found is a 4.20 ERA, including todays start. I'm geussing you just used his ERA for starts, but that doesn't sound right to me either. It'd be unfair to say he's sucked becuase he's been stellar before his shellacking today. (2.55 ERA, 47K in 53IP) Soup has been bad, but lately in his last 2 starts hes been very good. (12 IP 3 ER for a 2.25 ERA) Granted, thats an extremely small sample but it is a good sign. Vargas: Yup he's sucked. Bush: Since June 1 he does have a 4.35 ERA, which is alright, but add one more start on there and its 4.04, which is pretty good. So he's been solid for 2 months now. Cappy: Well, he hasn't pitched too well And Sheets has been great, and we can only hope for him to continue his success when he returns. But overall, I agree with you that the rotation as a whole needs to improve, but it's performed a little better than you made it out to be.
  12. The Cubs look like they finally are coming back down to Earth and losing some games. Not to say they won't get hot again, but it's nice to see.
  13. I agree. We got a downgrade at starting pitcher and a catcher who has a measly .302 OBP that can't throw someone out to save his life and never hustles. Now that Vargas is coming back down to Earth I can only hope that he is sent to the pen and replaced by Yo and/or Parra. To keep their innings in check they can be babied a bit or perhaps they can switch off. Perhaps Yo in the rotation for the rest of August and Parra for September?
  14. But yet we're in the thick of a pennant race and are still in first place? Sure, they haven't played very well at all lately but I can't stand comments like these. On a side note: Vargas is really pissing me off by playing the way we knew he eventually would.
  15. Very cool to see, with a great article along with it. The article pretty much talks about how he is the leader of the team and everyone respects him. There's also an awesome photo of him with the sausages. here's the link of the photo: http://insider.espn.go.com/insider/magazine/index mods: didnt know how to get the link to have clickability. help would be appreciated. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/happy.gif http://espn-att.starwave.com/i/insider/insiderMagIndex/mag_08132007.jpg (consolidated tags --1992)
  16. Hart is probably my favorite player. I love the way he plays, hitting for power and contact, good speed, and solid D. I was trying to defend him to some of my friends who proclaimed Gwynn Jr. was ROY and was waaaaay better than Hart who supposedly stunk becuase of a months worth of sub-par BA. He definitely is right there with Soriano, arguably better, and is millions of dollars cheaper. (for the time being)
  17. My dog has the same problem with thunderstorms. Only thing different is, he'll pee in the house, making a mess and ruining our carpet. Kenneling works, but for me, if I'm home during the storm I'll just stay with him and he won't be as scared.
  18. That is terrible. Just awful.
  19. I don't know, although his home runs are down a lot, he still seems to be ripping the ball and hitting more doubles. I hope he does starts to get his homer stroke back though, as we could use the offensive kick. Edit: I was curious as to his double totals, so I did a little quick math to figure it out. Since the all-star break he has 7 doubles in 69 AB. The first half he had 22 doubles in 324 AB. I figured out how many doubles he would have if he kept up the pace he had in the first half by using this proportion. 22*69=1518/324=4.69 So he has hit more doubles than his first half norm, which is a good sign considering how many less HR he's had.
  20. No problem. When he told me I had never heard it before, but I assumed it must have been reported a couple times. I decided to share the info because since I had never heard it, there must of been others here on bf.net that hadn't either. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. I too do not agree with this idea. I'll take a struggling Weeks over Gwynn right now for sure. While Rickie has been pretty awful, Gwynn has been pretty bad also. Gwynn since June 1: .182 /.265/.205/.470 Rickie since June 18: .156/.303/.233/.536 Both have been bad, but Rickie is hitting better. He's getting on base at a better clip, and he even has a slightly better slg%, even though his power is waaaaaay down. I don't hate Gwynn, but he's really just nothing more than a 5th outfielder.
  22. bobskube, That link didn't work for me. Is it a web address?
  23. I agree with everyone saying go for it. I also agree don't turn to stalking. www.thesmokinggun.com/graphics/art3/0602063inside1a.jpg
  24. Well actually, rluz, according to Sparky, who arguably has one of the greatest baseball minds of the 21st century, it is. He blamed the 2 hit performance Saturday night on Yost becuase he didn't motivate them or show enough emotion, or some other bologna. note: I didn't put this in blue on purpose, didn't think it fit well.
  25. I was in St Louis for the doubleheader Saturday, and although the baseball stunk, the park was cool and I had fun. (for the most part) However, I was fortunate enough to sit right behind Ryan Braun's dad. Unfortunately, I didn't know he was until the 6th inning, so I didn't get to talk to him as much as I'd of liked. So anyway, he goes on to mention Braun dominating lefties this year. He said the reason he's doing so well is becuase since he was 4 years old, he's been batting against his dad, who's a lefty. I suppose this could be a major reason for his ridiculous hitting against lefties, as he's seen it since a very young age and can pick up the ball better perhaps. I checked out his line against lefties in Nashville, and wasn't surprised to see it just as high as it's been this year in the bigs. I was wondering what your takes are on this, whether its a solid reason or if it has any correlation at all. And below is just for admiration. .516 / .559 / 1.129 / 1.688 vs. lefties Nashville .500 / .560 / 1.109 / 1.669 vs. lefties Milwaukee Wow. Just.......... wow. edit: Braun -brad added tag --1992
