    I don't think anyone was under the impression that he would be a dominant pitcher, except for those who saw the big money and assumed he must be super good. I think people are forgetting that he had a 5.83 ERA first half last year with St. Louis, and had an extremely strong second half (2.39). True, he hasn't been very good thus far, but he still has 1/3+ of the season to bring his ERA back down to his 4.00-4.25 range. On a related note, I tuned in to the post game show, and lasted until Sparky had a rant on Soup by saying "I can't believe we paid 10 million a year to a guy who has a career 5 ERA!" There's a couple things wrong with that. 1. He has a career 4.5 ERA. 2. He completely failed to mention that he has a 3.95 ERA his last 3 years. 3. He completely failed to ackknowledge that he is historically a lot better in the 2nd half than 1st half of the year.

    Hart Dunn Braun Fielder Hall Estrada Hardy Weekselino Pitcher That is a very attractive lineup. It'd be cool to see that instead of the atrociousness (is that a word?) of today's lineup.

    After his quick start, I thought he could obtain this. Of course, I knew he would cool down, which he has, but I thought he might be hitting a couple more homers.

    Although I'm still pretty skeptical, it seems like this actually could happen. As long as Turnbow isn't involved, I'm all for it. We'd probably need to deal Jenks for bullpen help though.

    Dang, thought today's game was on TV. Well, nothin wrong with listening to Bob and Jim. Ugh, lineup today is pretty bad, but then again Hart and Hardy are slumping, so a day's rest is needed. Everyone outside of Braun and Fielder today is pretty unintimidating.

    Why didn't Graffy bunt there? That would of advanced the runners and Miller fly out would of scored Prince. Ugh.

    Ahh, thanks, that clears it up. I geuss I just don't agree with the statement becuase of his recent injury, which imo is still affecting him.

    Sorry, but when did Ned ever say that Cappy's job is on the line and he only gets so many chances? That doesn't really make sense, considering he just got back from an injury and all, so I have a hard time beleiving he said that.

"--- Jaybird, my childhood experiences were pretty much a carbon copy of yours. I did that stuff in the late 90's early 2000's. Our summer consisted of playing baseball, whether it be games, home run derbys, groundball contests, or simply playing a game of catch. We also made forts, had lemonade stands, and collected/traded baseball cards. We even played Legos all the time on rainy days. But my point is, that yes, there are less kids who play baseball. But there are still plenty of kids who do. It wasn't too long ago that kids like me were, and I'm sure theres more kids that will.

    Here's to hoping Vargas has a solid outing. However, with him and his spectacular ability not to pitch more than 7 innings, I feel a little better now that Villanueva is available. At least I think he is, with 3 days of rest after throwing 60 pitches.

    Understandable, considering our infield is all home-grown talent, who are undeniably better than their infield that is payed a lot more money. Not to mention our infield is better looking. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

    While it's one thing to vent about a specific thing like the struggles of a player of the Brewers recent skid, its another to simply say the season is over if we lose one game. I should have been more clear that it's those type of comments that annoy me. All other vents I'm fine with.

    No, it's actually not. Theres still 72 games left after todays game, and that's a lot of baseball to play. Man, I'm really sick of posts in this thread that are all knee-jerk reactions and entirely premature.

    "Nothing a month in the minors can't cure." And that would do him good... how? He's struggling at the plate, we all know that. But just giving up on him and sending him down is not the answer. That would be handing over the job for a month to Graffy and Counsell. And granted, graffy has been hitting well as of late, but we al know that he cannot keep that up. It's not as if once he's in Nashville, his wrist will heal up magically, or he'll find his stroke somehow. That would do no good in my opinion.
