  1. Gotta think Gregory Polanco is next. His $10 million salary is costing the owners precious profit margin. All these NL Central moves dumping players makes me wish Attanasio was more willing to throw some cash around this offseason. If we had a semi-competent corner IF and maybe 1-2 more SPs we would be favorites for the division.
  2. I think it all comes down to if there will be fans in the stands. Braun probably wants, and definitely deserves, a final game at AmFam where he can be taken out in like the 7th inning to a standing ovation. Why come back to an empty stadium? He just did that last year.
  3. Gotta treat this awful turf like snow. Run vertically.
  4. If people in the higher priority tiers are refusing, states need to start opening up their "tiers." No sense in having doses sit unused.
  5. My wife and I both just got over COVID. She got it first and then I most likely got it from her. While both of our cases were relatively mild (I ended up losing all smell and taste), a co-worker of mine got it and he sounds like a 500 pound weight is on his chest when he tries to talk on the phone. I can only imagine what it would have been like for him if he were 20-30 years older.
  6. Look at the blowback that came when there was a campaign to try and get school kids to eat more fruits and vegetables. The kids said "healthy food tastes gross," parents gave up and sent their kids to school with a brown bag full of junk, and the school districts ended up just dropping the healthier options with food was going to waste.
  7. Jeff Potrykus @jaypo1961 Apologies for the delay in answering questions from #Badgers fans about Graham Mertz testing positive for COVID-19. Have been working on the story for much of the day but we wanted to be certain. One positive test. Has to have a second test to confirm.
  8. The benefit of the shortened season and expanded playoffs is I don't feel absolutely crushed like all the previous playoff exits since 2008. I am cautiously optimistic that MA and DS will realize they can't just throw a bunch of random pieces together and hope it somehow sticks. I anticipate them being much more focused this offseason to get quality pieces.
  9. It's Prince Fielder redux. Gotta roll the dice and hope going all-in yields some results. It almost worked for the Brewers!
  10. We should get a high pick in next year's draft!
  11. The only saving grace is we aren't really on the hook for these guys long term. Try again next offseason and hope for the best.
  12. I second this. While the 2007 season showed some glimmer of hope, the big trade deadline acquisition that season was Scott Linebrink, who, spoiler alert, did not prove to be the missing piece to put us over the edge. We always seemed to be taking the cautious approach to things. The acquisition of CC was so shocking because the Brewers of the past would never have made that move. in 2006 for thinking we could get Johan Santana. Then we actually went out and GOT a stud pitcher in CC Sabathia. And then he basically dragged us to the playoffs by himself. Truly incredible.
  13. [sarcasm]That should still count for the cycle: single, HR, triple, double (play)[/sarcasm]
  14. Matt "Salad Tongs" Wise would disagree also Hunter Pence running through a glass door is also one of my favorites. Adding Lucroy's falling luggage and Wes Helms' slip in Puerto Rico.
  15. What are you talking about? There looked to be 10's of thousands of fans already at the Cubs game today!
  16. [sarcasm]WE STINK![/sarcasm] In all seriousness it just looked like we were uncomfortable all night and just swinging at junk. It will take some getting used to the new guys, but right now I really miss not having Thames or Moose on the team anymore. I thought they brought a good presence to the team the last few years.
  17. Do people think that the schedule will just pick up wherever it is when games start again? Selfishly my dad and I were excited that the Brewers were scheduled to play in AZ on his birthday in June.
  18. BTW... I was today years old when I realized it was Narvaez instead of Navarez... I believe we agreed on El Narvdog a while back. There is only one true Narvdog
  19. Mark A must've checked an old winter coat pocket and found some $$$$$
  20. DFL in Keith Law's Farm System Rankings: https://theathletic.com/1641139/2020/03/02/keith-laws-farm-system-rankings-for-all-30-mlb-teams/
  21. I think a lot of it goes to the PR from the beginning of the offseason saying that payroll HAS to be cut, seemingly no matter who may be available in FA. Teams have so much PR leverage in free agency since player salaries are public but team profit is not. All DS and MA had to do was say "we are trying to sign the best guys" and then when they go and sign for $200 mil + say "we gave it a shot" like our offer to CC that we KNEW he'd never accept but could point to and say we tried. Or say something like "we like the versatility of a Sogard/Gyorko platoon over Moose" (ok, this one is a little less believable). But what I'm getting at is there was a way for the team to make plausible cases for their FA strategy that did not require them to immediately cry poor to justify Avisail Garcia as their big money offseason signing.

  23. Arbitrator rules in Brewers favor. Hader will be paid $4.1 million this season.
