  1. Nice release, should have happened sooner. Nice pick up, shoulda happened sooner. Message received--better late than never.
  2. I just think this says something about Cleveland. C'mon, you can't make up your mind yet? Institutionally paralyzed. I bet whoever they pick it's the wrong guy--the one who fizzles out into a non-prospect. Geesh...how pathetic.
  3. Next year we have to worry about them. This year? No way. Houston does this late surge a lot and more often than not it doesn't work out.
  4. I think this is very astute. Parra has not proved that he could be a #3 starter. I believe he's more of a #4. He could develop, but at this point with his age and injury history I doubt he actually reaches anything higher than a #3. If i was melvin I wouldn't count on him being anything other than what he is right now. I don't think there are any moves short of signing CC that will makes us competitive next year. Houston, St.Louis, and Chicago will improve, we can only digress. Not that we wouldn't be entertaining, just more like a 75-80 win team with a load of young talent ready to hit the Bigs. that's pretty exciting.
  5. Look, what else are the Brewers going to do? They've pretty much maxxed out their revenue stream this year. They gotta grow somehow. They already priced out some people (my first year since their first year in Milwaukee that I'll witness no games in person) and ticket prices can't continue to rise the way they need to, to compete with big market teams. I think it makes since and we should be understanding.
  6. I'm glad that bum Braun has three options--he'll learn to hit .350 with a .650 slugging percentage--or else!
  7. I wouldn't want him to take over at 3rd. I just don't understand why he deserves it. He had half of a good season in AA. I'm disappointed he's on the roster now. I do think he'll be okay eventually, after a year at AAA, but I'd rather not reward him by starting his clock.
  8. Cain would be great, but methinks it would take more than just Hardy. I'm guessing a major prospect as well.
  9. I think given Escobar's consistency, and his superior defense at a premium position, and being two years (?) younger makes him the #1 choice. No shame in 2nd though Mat. Why hasn't Cleveland made up their minds yet? I wonder if that bespeaks of a little more manuevering (sic)--threatening to pick someone, Brewers trying to negotiate someone else or several players instead of one. Pure speculation obviously.
  10. There's just too many major league teams. Lets see some shrinkage!

  13. Yeah, money or no money the Big Teams are going to drop the bomb on the little teams this off season. With rumors of 3500 dollars a ticket for some Yankee seats next year at the new park--a 300 million dollar payroll is possible. The Brewers, like a lot of other teams, will be picking up the scraps. If the Cubs go all the way look for them to make a stand in free agency. I think the Crew will have to look within and overspend on a few less than desirable veterans. I'm guessing payroll does go up, but mainly through Arby. Could be wrong though.
  14. Escobar has to be number one. Gamel has slipped but probably not too far. I was disappointed to see him called up though. It looks like the guys who called LaPorta over Gamel were right. God, I'm so naive. I should have know that if I think someone is great he isn't.
  15. I've always thought that there should be fifteen in each league. That cycles one team a bye every so often. An excellent idea I think. Then I would reduce the schedule to 154. That would mean (I think, I suck at Math) each team would play every other team 11 times in a 3-3-3-2 series. You get to dump the interleague games (yeah!) or even go to a 4-4-3 series and really save on travel.
  16. Ahhhh.....I can't believe we're talking about this. I saw two guys on the Cards last night who were better than Braun, and one who was in his zip code that never should have been. Until Braun becomes a truly devastating hitter, which includes real plate discipline, lets leave this kinda talk on the backburner.
  17. Lets play the "IF" game... If Boras was a team...he'd be the Yankees charging 3500 a ticket in his new stadium If Boras was a politician...he'd be Pol Pot surrounded by mounds of skulls If Boras was a character from literature...he'd be Ebenezer Scrooge but really why as fans do we give into greed, especially given the economic times. I'd love to see a well organzied, effective boycott of the MLB. Alas, we do not have the wherewithal of the rich and successful. That's why we are the underlings.
  18. I just wish they'd be forthcoming with Branyan's status. Why are the Brewers so tight-lipped about injuries? They're almost paranoid about giving fans information. I'd stick Weeks at third and call up our 7' 4" 1st baseman. Seriously though, whatta ya goin' do when the boss likes bad players? Counsell it is.
  19. Personally, I think the Cards are right, and it pains me to say it because anyone who knows me, knows I hate only two things in the world--Yankees and Cardinals. The Brewers aren't a very classy team. I think that the way Braun and Fielder admire their home runs is atrocious. I think the posing the Brewers do at times is child-like. However, the Cards, and Puljos in particular, got most of this wrong. Villy wasn't doing what he was alleged to do, and quite frankly Albert acted the complete knob. However Villy shouldn't have reacted to Albert, because, well, the guy's not worth the time and attention. So we pounded them 10-5 this year and they're not used to it--cry me a river. BUT... Sports is any thing but fair, and baseball itself is insidious at best, and given that teams don't forget even after years sometime, be prepared for a butt whooping next year. The Cards should be significantly better than the Crew by then and they're going make us pay in blood and humiliation. LaRussa wouldn't have it any other way. The other thing I'm just slightly afraid of, is that this turns out to be a catalyst for the Cards hanging in the Wild Card. Even though they were 90% in the wrong, that 10% could work against us . It's one of the true joys of ignorance.
  20. point one: team chemistry can't be quantified therefore it can't be significant point two: team chemistry results in a variety of outcomes on a line ranging from bad to good point three: team chemistry is a debilitating myth
  21. If he's on the list, why wouldn't they take Lucroy--great hitter at a premium position. I hope they take Brantley. The Brewers don't need more players without a position, who are defensively below average.
  22. Well, I merely had a question--does he need protection. I don't know the answer. I do know there are minor leaguers who have had better years this year, certainly more consistent years, and they are the ones who should get the award. And actually since you bring it up, I guess you may be right. I'm the kind of guy who would rather that the Brewers in general don't get any awards. Minor leaguers don't need the ballyhoo; it's just a distraction. And as for major leaguers, it only means they'll leave us that much quicker (although Braun was a pleasent exception). But I understand the excitement people feel and wouldn't want to rain on their parade if that's what floats their boat. (Holy mixed metaphor, Batman!)
  23. Yeah I don't see how Gamel deserves a call-up. I think you're sending the wrong message to the rest of the system if you do call Gamel up. In fact, I'm disappointed he got the promotion. If you can't hit AA pitchers consistently then I say stay there until you can. He had a great half season--okay, so what?
  24. Gallardo Bush Parra Suppan McClung I think the Brewers stand pat on the trade market. Well, not any thing big anyways. We may pick up some Soup-like veteran, but nothing that will really make a difference.
  25. Same line up as this year.
