  1. Dude, the Yost thread is on page 62. That's pretty loud. I don't think they're listening to us for that. And like others have said, if they make personnel decisions based on message boards, there's a problem. I want Yost fired, but I don't want Melvin to say that he decided it after reading a post on bf.net.
  2. You better hope the decision you helped them with was a good one...http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. BC, I can actually buy into what you're saying here, but that's not what Ned said. He was very clear to say that he brought in Mota because "it was a save situation". If I actually thought that Ned had put as much thought into the decision as you have, I wouldn't have as much of a problem. But his responses when he talks about it make it seem like he put absolutely no thought other than "it's a save situation and he's the 'setup' guy." It's just so robotic. I keep seeing more and more reasons to not pay a guy, and this is another. Why pay someone if the decisions have so little thought put into them? It's like he has a 3 page manual that he memorizes every night. (pared back long quote --1992)
  4. I really don't understand what the big deal is. He was playing around. It's no different than taking a half-court shot at basketball practice; if you miss it, no one cares because you're not supposed to make it...but if you make it, everyone thinks it's awesome. Anyway... "Sheets has a 2.56 ERA in his 5 no-decisions this season." Now that's a little sickening.
  5. It's not that people don't have a concept of how much stress is involved with his job...it's that we don't care. My job is stressful, too. I bet TH's salary compared to mine is proportional to the stress that his job involves compared to mine. No one wants to hear about how stressful someone else's job is when we all have stressful jobs of our own to go to.
  6. I don't know that this is really fair. Many people don't really care about prospects because they've never heard of them. The only way they can hear about them is for people like Witrado and Haudricourt to talk about them. I remember years ago, I didn't care about prospects and had no idea how the minor league system even worked. Then I read an article in the J-S about Fielder and Weeks and Gwynn when they were still in their first year or two, and it got me excited. I knew nothing of BF.net, so the only place I knew to go for info on anything to do with the Brewers was the J-S. I always found it annoying to hear that writers don't write about something because no one wants to hear about it. Well, of course they don't want to hear about it. It's new to them, and people are afraid of new stuff. So make it not new.

  10. This is probably true, but I don't think it's a very good way of saying it. It's not like guys are put out there because the team wants to get their money's worth. The idea is more along the lines of...we're paying this guy this much for a reason (he's a good player), so we'll assume that what we're paying him is what he's worth, and assume that eventually he'll come around and play well enough that he'll be worth this contract.

So, you can't spell Russell Branyan without...Ryan Braun? Nice.
  12. And none of them demanded a trade. I don't doubt that eventually Billy would come around and start hitting better, but you can't deny how well Branyan was playing in AAA, and we're seeing the same thing since he's come up. Do you just leave Branyan on the bench against righties when Billy is hitting .160 against them? I've always appreciated what Hall has done for this team. He has worked hard and has been open to moving around, and I thank him for that. But here's the thing - he got a HUGE raise, and a year later he's talking about being mistreated?

My last name starts with a B. Think I'll name my kid Rufus.
  14. Sorry, I should've put that in blue. Kinda thought my sarcasm was a given http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

  17. Are you implying that ESPN has some sort of Yankee bias?

  20. Russell Branyan pleaded no contest because he assumed it meant the same thing as when he's batting...no contest.
  21. So far, others have provided statistical evidence of why you're wrong about Dillon. You have provided no evidence other than what you think. What are you basing your conclusions on? The only thing that I can see you basing it on so far is that he hasn't had enough plate appearances, which is hardly something you can hold against a player.
  22. From TooLiveBrew: Now nate, are you trying to ignore these things? Would you like all players to come into the majors with 2 years of major league experience so you feel better?
  23. I'm not talking about team chemistry. I'm talking about his trade value. If he really wants to be traded, then he should understand that the team isn't going to get less for him than what they value him at. Demanding a trade hurts that value, and actually makes a trade LESS likely, in my opinion. It's just stupid to go public with stuff like that.
  24. Prince and Weeks aren't demanding a trade. No one was hanging Hall out to dry until this happened. I think there are a lot of people around here that are patient enough to wait out a player's slump, but when they go and say they want to be traded, and do it publicly, they're just asking to be thrown to the wolves. If Hall had kept this private and let the team get more value back for him, I would hold nothing against him. And there were plenty of people ripping on Fielder when he was complaining about his contract. It's not always about performance on the field...sometimes these players have to realize that going public with this crap is not good for the organization and that makes it even worse for themselves.
  25. I don't know...when they signed Zito it was because they thought they might be competitive. Throw in the fact that they may be less likely to throw a huge contract at a SP, and I wouldn't call him untouchable. I don't think we could get him (maybe Cain is more likely), but I don't think he's untouchable. The Giants need position players badly, so I think Hall paired with one of LaPorta/Gamel would have them at least interested.
