  1. Well Duh! To be a good pitcher you gotta battle and know how to win.
  2. There are some managers that have taken their teams to consistent losing seasons. Based on your argument, I should also give those managers the benefit of the doubt because I've never taken a team to win one single baseball game. And saying something like "He knows baseball better than you!" really doesn't make any sense. Knows what about baseball? Do you think Ned understands statistics in baseball as well as some people on here? Does Ned somehow manage people better? Cause I'm a manager and I think I'm pretty good at it. I bet I could manage a team to at least one win if I was a manager. Does that mean that I know baseball better than you TWR?
  3. I'm not sure where the Torres v. Marmol argument can really go. Just because Torres has a "proven" track record of pitching a lot of innings, he also showed that after pitching a lot of innings his production drops off. You can't say that an overworked pitcher should be able to handle being overworked. It may be true, or it may be exactly the opposite.
  4. I really don't care for the small ball approach. If anything, that's one of the few things that I appreciate about Yost. The only time I want to see bunting for sacrifice is by the pitcher. Besides that, I don't mind seeing Weeks and maybe Hart bunt for hits, but that's a completely different thing. I guess I wouldn't have minded seeing Counsell try a drag bunt and at worst move the runner over, but I wouldn't want to see him trying an obvious sac bunt (squaring up early). Even in that case, I would venture a guess that drag bunts are up to the player in a similar manner as some stolen bases.
  5. Likewise, if you credit Yost/Melvin for McClung's success, then you can blame Yost/Melvin for Gagne's lack of success. This could go back and forth all day.
  6. If I was in New York and had a chance to see a Broadway show, I would probably hope to see anything but Rent. But if that was the only choice, I think I would probably do it. Like hawing said, you can sit in a bar anywhere. It kinda reminds me of when I was younger and I would go on vacations and spend all of my money on things that I could easily find at home. For some reason, it felt cooler because I was buying it in D.C. or something like that. Also, you know you enjoy sitting in a bar, but do you even know how you really feel about musicals? How will you ever know if you don't experience it? Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't make you less of a man to enjoy musical theatre (at least I hope not http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ) Finally, and here's the kicker, if there are any attractive women in this group of friends, you have a prime opportunity to both show that you're up for trying new things, and that you don't think you're too macho to see a musical. There's a chance that it could be noticed that you're willing to try anything. There is little to no chance of them noticing you if you bail and sit in a bar while they go to a show. While reading this, keep in mind that it's terribly difficult for me to suggest to anyone to go see Rent. But I think everyone can become a little more rounded by experiencing new things.
  7. Also, just because Prince hit 50 homers last year doesn't mean that he's going to hit 55 this year. Sure his production is down, but I don't think it's down as much as some think it is.
  8. Naivin, we've had this discussion before so many times. If you would like you can go back through this thread and find examples of Ned throwing players under the bus. When I initially said this, I wasn't referring specifically to the example that was being talked about. The poster said that Ned was not wanting to bash his players publicly, and infering that Ned doesn't do that sort of thing and that he was consciously trying not to bash a player publicly. I think that's a fabrication of the truth. Just because he doesn't bash a player once doesn't mean he was actually trying not to. It's neither here nor there.
  9. So if you go to one of those temp agency things, there are employees there to assist you. How exactly do you get a job as one of those employees? You can't just go in to the agency and say, "Do you have any job openings?", because that's what everyone else that walks in the door says.
  10. So which is it, he bashes them publicly and throws them under the bus, or doesn't hold them accountable to the media? And since I assume your answer will be that he bashes them publicly, some examples would be nice. Read the part in bold. I thought it was pretty clear what I was saying. Bashing a player when something is actually Ned's fault and holding a player accountable are completely different things.
  11. Were you expecting him to say something different? Come on, you guys are the ones saying that we shouldn't take Ned's press conferences at face value, so why should we take anything that Melvin has to say about Ned at face value?
  12. Just had it done in April. Mine surprisingly wasn't too bad and they didn't have to pack it. But even now, over two months later, it still feels weird and I'm still not completely opened up yet. It's much better than it was before though, even though it's not completely healed.
  13. I agree. For as crappy as the Metrodome is, the ushers are cool. They know when to be stingy (during ABs), and when to be laid-back. When the game was pretty much over and all the Twins fans in front of us left, all the Brewer fans ran up to the front row seats. The usher was propped up on a couple chairs, looked over at us, smiled, and looked away. Very cool.
  14. My girlfriends apartments (a block away from me) were evacuated a few minutes ago. Most first-floor apartment buildings are being evacuated, and some in my complex are already under water. Fire trucks and city buses all around. I managed to get her back here by me since I live in an upper apartment, but now my shoulders hurt from carrying her. I can't imagine any way that area businesses will be open tomorrow. Yay three day weekend!
  15. I'll be there for the Saturday night and Sunday afternoon games. We're sitting in the Home Run Porch in LF for both of them. How big of a Brewer crowd tends to show up there for the annual series? It's a pretty significant crowd. I was there last year for the Saturday night game (day before Prince's inside-the-park homer) and there were several times where the crowd was in a chant war. And at least half of those times, "Let's Go Brewers!" won the competition.
  16. Update on the white car "guage": http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/ad7151998e5f50ce232aa37b315c034d83ba819.pjpg If you can make it out, basically the top of the car remains. The owner of the car finally came out about an hour ago and he looked absolutely hopeless.
  17. And it's gotten worse. The only gauge that I have is the white car in the 3rd picture, and the water keeps rising on it. At this point it's too dark to get a good picture, but the water is at about the windows. And it just started raining again... How are you holding up Rydogg?
  18. That's right Craig. Here's an idea why: http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/d0d257b99e8d75f054dc7b906037e08e42f72cf.pjpg http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/40835128947d8c0c58fd5e62c95fc0243cf58f8.pjpg http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/a1d355b69fda84535023525ccdf6bc2cb57d181.pjpghttp://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/00b159978e5e5fceac0d9fd83f07f37628e312e.pjpghttp://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/10b1569485595fc0d418a04922f625aa7719e82.pjpg
  19. I believe the quote was something like, "Manny battled out there, he's a battler. You know, he competes." I know he said at least two battles in one sentence. Can't remember the rest of it.
  20. There were apparently tornadoes sighted in Fond du lac. Our branch there just re-opened after closing for about ten minutes. After looking at the WISN radar, it's heading straight towards Oshkosh. In fact, everything is heading straight towards Oshkosh. I can't wait. Stay safe Rydogg and other Oshkoshians.
  21. I'm also quite certain that there are several teams that Joe Dillon would start for.
  22. On Taft Ave. right next to Oshkosh West H.S. Are you anywhere in the area?
  23. Adults that ride bicycles on the road are both honorable and annoying.
