  1. I think you're taking what I said a little too far. Look at it this way, there are plenty of actors and actresses that are attractive but fail because they don't have the talent. Someone like Tom Cruise has (arguably) a talent for making movies, yet he wouldn't have made it this far if he wasn't attractive. I'm not talking about the way it SHOULD be, I'm talking about the way that it most likely is. Perhaps the male viewer numbers wouldn't change either way, but players having less tattoos would increase female viewers, thus raising the overall ratings. I used to date a girl who thought Michael Jordan was the hottest man alive, and she would watch any game of his that she could. I agree that it's all grasping at straws, but I don't think you can say that it makes absolutely no impact. There's bound to be some kind of subtle difference, just not enough to say that it's THE difference.
  2. Turn down that loud music! In all seriousness, he might have a very, very small point. Just not one that I think is worth bring up. Using your argument that basketball players are there for their talents, you could also say that actors should be judged on their talents. But in all reality, if you're on TV in any form, attractiveness sells. And if the market dictates that basketball viewers don't like the tattoos, then less tattoos would have a positive result on ratings. I just don't think it's enough to write an entire article about.
  3. I think he was talking about Hall hitting .246 since last year...
  4. I'm in, thanks http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. Pitch-bending, vibrato, and YOUR SOUL. And it's called the keytar (keyboard+guitar=keytar)
  6. Teaching kids what a baby bear is called has nothing to do with baseball. The little leaguers were using the name Cubs as an obvious representation of the MLB team. I still don't agree with the whole thing, but the example you provided are two completely different situations.
  7. I believe he meant that in the 4 plate appearances, he gets one single, get on by error, and gets out twice...in which case it would be .500.
  8. But please tell me that Prince has some sort of personal nutritionist or something...
  9. It never happened! Take it back! I'm in for the 3TO Apostle shirt, too.
  10. Not sure which forum this is supposed to be in, but it's also being discussed here Edit: beat me to the punch
  11. Kinda the same general topic here...minus the stuff about his daughter, of course.
  12. I guess I would wonder more what the long-term effect would be. Right away, we probably would see a little less scoring because hitters won't be accustomed to that being a strike. That would mean more strikeouts, less walks. But over time, hitters will get used to the fact that the high pitch is a strike. If hitters adapt to it, that's not a bad pitch to hit.
  13. The only time I ever really see this is if the 1st baseman gets on 1st base. Like if Prince draws a walk, he'll sometimes chat it up with D. Lee or Pujols.
  14. I love how there's a tiny little circle down the line in left where ideally the ball takes a wicked bounce off the side wall. That little circle is so cute over there http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Bert "Be Home" Blyleven. Because of that, Berman can never be any worse than neutral in my heart.
  16. There was definitely a time in sports history when Berman represented new, exciting, and refreshing. I think that time has passed and he's living on his name now. I don't really mind him, but I won't go out of my way to listen to him.
  17. Maybe my memory is faulty, but didn't Plesac strike out Strawberry in his AS game appearance? Or was there more than one? I thought he got the win or save or something in that game, too...
  18. I think there has to be a distinction made, though. Don't some parks have some areas in the left-center gap that are very triples-friendly? I imagine what you're talking about is the down-the-line variety?
  19. So maybe if they're moving he'll hit a homer? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. http://images.yuku.com/image/x-png/560353b494598c035027567ec0364fe8546255e.x-png
  21. Yeah, I saw those numbers and just laughed. Bill Hall 5th? Fielder and Ryan Howard are 4th and 5th? And wow, Soriano leading the way for outfielders. What a joke. I barely even want to watch the All-Star game anymore. I'm sure I will, but wow.
  22. I believe you're talking about ACT (not SAT, as a 33 would be pretty sad). A 33 ACT should get the student in to a lot of schools, as the highest possible score is 36, but it goes beyond that. Many schools aren't satisfied with a student that has a 4.0 GPA on a fluff high school schedule, which is why extracurriculars are so important. If you get a 4.0 with sports or other activities while taking tough classes, it shows them that you are indeed up to the challenge. I'm not sure if it's still this way, but we used to have weighted classes in high school, which inflated a lot of grades. Some people would graduate with a GPA over 4.0, which is partially what made GPA irrelevant to many universities and colleges. Also, it's not always about school prestige. There are many, many professors that are happy with the school they're at and have a ton of respect within their academic discipline. If you can latch on to one, that will be a name you can carry with you wherever you go. I'm not at all implying that it should be an artificial relationship just to have the name, but that if you find a professor like that, learn everything you possibly can from them.
  23. Because the chances of advancing from 1st to 2nd on a fly ball are pretty unlikely, and if the outfielder pulls a Soriano out there, you don't wanna be sitting at first base waiting to see what happens. I've seen Rickie try to tag from first before on a fly ball with the bases loaded. It was a VERY deep fly ball and he still got thrown out by a longshot. If Rickie can't pull that off, I'm not sure who on the team could.
