Top pick Clint Coulter makes his debut tonight (Thursday) for the Maryvale Brewers. I imagine he will be hitting. 3rd or 4th but the position is the thing to watch. We are assuming he'll be the C. Pretty sure I read that Clint's PacNW HS team only played 20 or so games this year because of inclement weather. He will push past that by mid-July. Should be quite the adjustment for the slugger.

With Reed sent to Helena, are people disappointed? I think it's the right move. Hangier is older and more polished. He should be at WI. My next question is what is going to happen in the Helena OF? With Roenicke piling up hits, and Mondesi Jr., Ozuna and Yonki Hernandez rostered, there does not seem to be much room. I predict Hernandez is off to Arizona.

Great Falls (White Sox) 11 Helena 7 Box Score Early damage, followed by a Joel Pierce implosion, were too much for the Helena Brewers tonight. UW-Milwaukee alum, Eric Semmelhack, got the start and was pretty decent in his pro debut. 3 IP 5 H 3 R 1 ER 1 BB 3 K 1 WP 1:2 GO:FO. 2010 7th rounder Joel Pierce was next on the mound and he had a forgettable night. I know Steve was pretty perturbed after Pierce gave up a booming HR on an 0-2 FB down the middle. Manny Ruiz finished the game in style holding the Great Falls vaunted O to zero runs of 2.1 IP (2 H 2 BB 1 K). Steve mentioned that the H-Crew is in a bit of a pitcher crunch. Lingering injuries (?) and waiting on a work visa (David Otterman) are leaving the Brewers active roster a little short. The hitters never gave up as they attempted a big time comeback. 2B Chris McFarland (3-5), LF Lance Roenicke (3-5 2B) and DH Mike Nemeth (3-5) led the way on offense. SS Alfredo Rodriguez was bumped up to the 7-hole on went 1-4 with a BB. Ruben Ozuna (1-4) boomed out a 2B. 24th rounder C Michael Turay (1-3) also made his pro debut. Raul Mondesi Jr. (1-4) made an error when he air mailed an attempted throw home. Wasn't even close. Michael Garza (0-5) made his first error at 3B. Game Log Giacalone still hitless through 3 G. Helena Top of the 2nd Lance Roenicke singles on a line drive to left fielder Daurys Mercedes. Adam Giacalone grounds into double play, second baseman Micah Johnson to first baseman Abe Ruiz. Lance Roenicke out at 2nd. Michael Nemeth flies out to center fielder Adam Heisler. Big doubles. Helena Top of the 7th Pitcher Change: Cal Bowling replaces Jonathan Casey. They hit mistake pitches, plain and simple. I am pretty confident Tyler will minimize those as he matures as a pitcher. It was also 80-90 degrees with a very gusty wind. Those are premier hitting conditions at MP. His velocity was down his final 1-2 innings, but I know he can still be effective at 89-91 because he has a good change up and some built in deception. In the 3rd, I saw him run quite a few 94's and 95's out there. That is what excites you.

Helena 10 Great Falls (White Sox) 8 Box Score This was quite the game. Helena had their 5-run 4th and then kept slowly piling on more as Great Falls chipped away. The final was 10-8, Helena. Michael Shaub started and basically had one really bad frame. He was commended for the impressive movement on his fastball. Catcher Emmanuel Quiles was chasing Shaub's offerings all over the place and was charged with 1 PB while Shaub had 3 WP's, at least one on a FB. He finished the evening by striking out consecutive batters. 2010 13th rounder Mike White came in next. He was pretty uneven. 2012 full season participant (Brevard) Conor Whalen made his 1st appearance. He got 7 outs, gave up 3 R, and struck out 5 en route to a highly flawed 1st save. The bats were relentless. Lance Roenicke had 4 hits and a BB. Michael Garza (3-5 2B HR) was a beast. I was somewhat surprised to see his name in the clean up spot yesterday, but the HR he hit today was a bomb that one-hopped the building across the street from the stadium, so maybe my surprise was unwarranted. Raul Mondesi Jr hit a 3B to spark a big rally. Chris McFarland (2-5) hit a 3B on a scorching GB into the gap. 9-hitter SS Alfredo Rodriguez (2-4 2B) is off to a nice start. He was noted for some more very solid defense tonight. No Ruben Ozuna today. Instead, Yonki Hernandez (1-3 BB 2 SB) played CF. The H-Crew was helped out immensely by 4 Great Falls errors. Game Log Take them however you can get them. Helena Bottom of the 4th Adrian Williams grounds out, shortstop D. J. Jarrad to first baseman Brent Tanner. Alfredo Rodriguez singles on a line drive to center fielder Adam Heisler. Raul Mondesi reaches on force attempt, throwing error by third baseman Thomas McCarthy. Alfredo Rodriguez to 2nd. Christopher McFarland singles on a line drive to right fielder Kyle Robinson. Alfredo Rodriguez scores. Raul Mondesi scores. Christopher McFarland to 3rd. Throwing error by right fielder Kyle Robinson. Adam Giacalone strikes out swinging, catcher Bryce Mosier to first baseman Brent Tanner. Mike Garza doubles (2) on a line drive to left fielder Andrew Douglas. Christopher McFarland scores. Lance Roenicke singles on a line drive to left fielder Andrew Douglas. Mike Garza scores. Pitcher Change: Brandon Hardin replaces Thomas Royse. Emmanuel Quiles singles on a line drive to center fielder Adam Heisler. Lance Roenicke scores. Emmanuel Quiles advances to 2nd, on throwing error by catcher Bryce Mosier. Yonki Hernandez singles on a ground ball to pitcher Brandon Hardin. Emmanuel Quiles to 3rd. With Adrian Williams batting, Yonki Hernandez steals (1) 2nd base. Adrian Williams strikes out swinging. Roenicke was out by a mile on this play. He was also picked off in the game. Helena Bottom of the 6th Pitcher Change: Zachary Isler replaces Brandon Hardin. Adam Giacalone called out on strikes. Mike Garza homers (1) on a fly ball to left field. Lance Roenicke singles on a line drive to left fielder Andrew Douglas. With Emmanuel Quiles batting, Lance Roenicke steals (1) 2nd base. Emmanuel Quiles flies into double play, center fielder Adam Heisler to third baseman Thomas McCarthy. Lance Roenicke out at 3rd on the throw.

Manatees drop matinee to Lakeland 06/19/2012 2:03 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees LAKELAND, Fla. - A six-run second inning by the Lakeland Flying Tigers doomed the Brevard County Manatees as the 'Tees fell 9-4 at Joker Marchant Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. Jed Bradley (4-6, 5.03) had the shortest start of his professional career as he went just two innings and tied a season-high with four walks. He allowed six runs - all earned - on five hits and did not strikeout a batter for just the second time this season. With the Manatees (29-39) leading 1-0, Bradley allowed a lead-off walk to begin the bottom of the second. The Flying Tigers (36-29) then strung together five consecutive hits, topped off by a Dixon Machado double, as Lakeland took a 4-1 lead. Lakeland plated two more runs in the frame off of Bradley on a RBI ground out and a sacrifice fly, before Bradley was able to get out of the inning with Brevard trailing 6-1. The Manatees were able to cut Lakeland's lead to just two runs in the top of the third. Mike Walker drove in two with a double and Shea Vucinich plated Walker with a single - both with two outs - as Brevard County trailed just 6-4. Walker was the only Manatee who had a multi-hit day as he went 2-for-3 with three RBI. After the third inning, Brevard County was shut down offensively the rest of the way as they managed just two base runners and did not record a hit in the final six innings against the Flying Tigers. Eric Arnett (3 IP), Philippe Valiquette (2 IP) and Eric Marzec (1 IP) combined to go the rest of the way after Bradley's early departure. Each reliever gave up one run with Arnett striking out three and Valiquette fanning two. Brevard County will look to avoid the sweep in Wednesday night's series finale against Lakeland at 6:30 p.m. Brooks Hall (1-3, 4.89) will get the start on the mound for the 'Tees, while the Flying Tigers will counter with Brian Stroud (0-1, 3.76). Box Score Not a good one from Jed Bradley today. ERA now a few ticks over 5.00 on the season. Eric Arnett is really making strides this season. His FIP is almost a full run higher than his 2.73 ERA, but I'll take it at this point. The thing that killed Eric, well along with some loss of command, was when his FB velocity dipped 5+ MPH. I am really, really hoping the same sort of thing does not happen to Jed and Taylor. Of course, Jimmy Nelson saw a dip and then a mid-season 2011 rise, so your guess is as good as mine. Back to Arnett, he really came up big tonight with his 3 IP 1 R 3 K pitching. Kept them in the game. Mike Walker, the rock of the Manatee lineup, went 2-3 with a 2B and BB. I do try to dream on Walker, but his slash lines and production have been in steady decline as he moves up the ladder. He is impressive against righties and he has been playing multiple positions, so maybe he can be a corner utility guy down the road. Michael Reed went 0-2 with a BB. Nick Shaw is slumping in June. Game Log Sheesh. Lakeland Bottom of the 2nd James Robbins walks. Hernan Perez singles on a line drive to center fielder Reggie Keen. James Robbins to 2nd. Luis Castillo singles on a bunt ground ball to pitcher Jed Bradley. James Robbins to 3rd. Hernan Perez to 2nd. Adolfo Reina singles on a line drive to right fielder Michael Reed. James Robbins scores. Hernan Perez scores. Luis Castillo to 3rd. Daniel Fields singles on a line drive to right fielder Michael Reed. Luis Castillo scores. Adolfo Reina to 2nd. Dixon Machado doubles (8) on a fly ball to right fielder Michael Reed. Adolfo Reina scores. Daniel Fields to 3rd. Tyler Collins grounds out, shortstop Nick Shaw to first baseman Cody Hawn. Daniel Fields scores. Dixon Machado to 3rd. Wade Gaynor out on a sacrifice fly to left fielder T. J. Mittelstaedt. Dixon Machado scores. Avisail Garcia walks. James Robbins grounds out, second baseman Shea Vucinich to first baseman Cody Hawn. Brevard County Hitting and Pitching Leaders

By the way, couldn't remember if this was the first we've learned that Raul Mondesi Jr.'s signing bonus was $800,000. Jim Breen looked it up, and Baseball America has it at $80,000 and that is how I kind of remember it. His younger brother signed last season with the Royals for 1M or more iirc. Brewers were in on him but were out bid.

Great Falls (White Sox) 6 Helena 4 Box Score It was exciting to get the Pioneer league going. Steve Wendt was enjoyable to listen to as usual. Throughout the contest, he reminisced about past opening days with good stories about Joey Paciorek and Mike Walker among others. Steve had many very interesting things to say about some of our youngest farmhands. He seemed very impressed with what lead off man Raul Mondesi Jr. has to offer on the diamond. Mondesi absolutely roped an RBI single in one at bat. Then, he threw out a guy at home with an absolute rope to end an inning. He also helped kick start a mini 9th inning rally with a booming RBI 2B. He finished 2-5 with the 2B. The most interesting tidbit for me was when Steve threw out a few comps for Chris McFarland. He said he swings a little like AAA 2B Eric Farris but also said he say some Marlon Byrd in him. I guess it is good to keep expectations on the low side, but I am hoping for more from the kid termed as "premium offensive" talent by PG per-draft 2011. McFarland finished 1-5 and was CS. Ruben Ozuna also had a big game going 2-4 with a 2B. His double was off the very top of the wall, narrowly missing a homer. In Ruben's 2nd AB, he was called out for stepping on the plate during a bunt attempt. Steve also discussed Adam Giacolone's "tremendous power". Adam hit 3rd and went 0-4 with 3 K tonight. Expect big things from him moving forward. Georgetown SS Michael Garza (2-4 2B) hit cleanup and played 3B. He was basically among the best hitters in the Big East the past 2 seasons. Emmanuel Quiles (2-4 2B) and Alfredo Rodriguez (1-3 BB) rounded out the lineup in style. Will West started for the Brewers and was not in top form. 6 IP 10 H 5 R 4 ER 2 BB 6 K 7:2 GO:FO. 48th round 2011 draft pick, Mike Francisco finished the game with 3 IP 4 H 1 ER 1 R ) BB 1 K 3:3 GO:FO. So, for those keeping score, and undrafted FA and a 48th round pick were your opening day tandem for Helena. In the field, Rodriquez was commended for several nice plays. He made the two errors, but he can pick it a little by the sound of it. Michael Garza also leaped high to snatch a liner at 3B. How fun would a run producing third baseman with a good glove be? Mike Walker is the closest thing we have currently. Maybe Jalen Harris will be that guy? Game Log Enjoy. -

Brevard falls late to Lakeland, 4-3 06/18/2012 10:10 PM ET By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees LAKELAND, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees dropped their first game after the All-Star Break as they fell 4-3 on Monday night to the Lakeland Flying Tigers at Joker Marchant Stadium. With the game tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the seventh, the Flying Tigers led the inning off with a double by Marcus Lemon off of the new Manatees (29-38) pitcher Thomas Keeling. After a sacrifice bunt by Adolfo Reina moved Lemon to second, a sacrifice fly by Luis Castillo plated Lemon in what would turn out to be the winning run for Lakeland (35-29). Taylor Jungmann (5-4, 3.83) got the start on the mound for the 'Tees and he went six innings and allowed three runs. The 2011 first round draft pick yielded six hits and a walk to Lakeland, while striking out five. Lakeland scored its three runs off of Jungmann in the first three innings, including a two-run, two-out, inside-the-park homer by Wade Gaynor in the third. In his last three innings of work, Jungmann settled down and retired ten of the last 12 hitters he faced. Down 3-1 after three, Brevard scored one run in the fourth and another in the fifth to tie the game at 3-3. Cody Hawn scored on a balk in the fourth and Reggie Keen doubled in Nick Shaw to even the game in the fifth. Keen was 3-for-4 with two RBI on the night. After hitting just .221 in the month of April, Keen has hit .318 since and is hitting .500 (11-for-22) in his last five games. Overall offensively, the Manatees had plenty of chances but failed to capitalize as they went 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position. Brevard County will look to get back on track in the second game of their three-game set at Lakeland with a 10:35 a.m. Tuesday matinee game. Southpaw Jed Bradley (4-5, 4.36) will toe the rubber for the 'Tees. In two starts against the Flying Tigers this season, Bradley is 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA. Lakeland will counter with a lefty of their own, Shawn Teufel (3-4, 5.61). In three June starts, Teufel is 2-0 with a 1.86 ERA. Box Score Taylor Jungmann pitched much better than his line indicates. Who knows what the heck happened on the 2-out 2-run inside the park homer in the 3rd. He finished: 6 IP 6 H 3 R 3 ER 1 BB 5 K 1 HR 10:1 GO:FO 1 Balk 1 HBP. The balk also seems weird, after all 4 were called in the game, which is about 4 more than you normally see. Taylor left with the game tied. Wild Thomas Keeling, a lefty reliever with a major league arm, gave up the go-ahead runs. Reggie Keen (3-4 2B CS) lead the Sea Cow march. Shea Vucinich went 1-2 with 2 BB. Michael Reed may not be to thrilled that the all-star break interrupted his hot hitting as he went 0-4 with a K tonight. At any rate, it appears the kid is here to stay. He played LF tonight. T.J. Mittelstaedt (1-4) made is 7th error in this one. Game Log 2-out Jungmann runs. Lakeland Bottom of the 1st Luis Castillo grounds out, second baseman Shea Vucinich to first baseman Cody Hawn. Dixon Machado flies out to left fielder Michael Reed. Tyler Collins singles on a line drive to center fielder Reggie Keen. Wade Gaynor hit by pitch. Tyler Collins to 2nd. Avisail Garcia singles on a line drive to right fielder Franklin Romero Jr. Tyler Collins scores. Wade Gaynor to 3rd. With James Robbins batting, Avisail Garcia caught stealing 2nd base, catcher Parker Berberet to shortstop Nick Shaw. Lakeland Bottom of the 3rd Luis Castillo strikes out swinging. Dixon Machado called out on strikes. Tyler Collins singles on a line drive to right fielder Franklin Romero Jr. With Wade Gaynor batting, Tyler Collins steals (8) 2nd base. Wade Gaynor hits an inside-the-park home run (5) on a fly ball to left field. Tyler Collins scores. Avisail Garcia strikes out swinging. Balk, WP, Balk, K Brevard County Top of the 4th Shea Vucinich flies out to center fielder Luis Castillo. Cody Hawn singles on a line drive to center fielder Luis Castillo. With Michael Reed batting, Cody Hawn scores on a balk. Michael Reed strikes out swinging. Prolly should have tied it here. Brevard County Top of the 9th Pitcher Change: Bruce Rondon replaces Matt Crouse. Parker Berberet reaches on fielding error by third baseman Wade Gaynor. Parker Berberet to 2nd. Michael Reed reaches on a fielder's choice out, shortstop Dixon Machado to third baseman Wade Gaynor. Parker Berberet out at 3rd. Franklin Romero Jr. called out on strikes. Sounds Take Finale Against Omaha, 4-1 06/17/2012 5:58 PM ET Nashville Sounds NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds gained a split of a four-game series against division-leading Omaha with a 4-1 victory on Sunday afternoon at Greer Stadium. Logan Schafer accounted for half of Nashville's six hits with a 3-for-4 effort that included a pair of runs scored, the outfielder's seventh multiple-hit effort in his last 11 contests. Nashville right-hander Wily Peralta (2-8) defeated Omaha for the second time in two starts this season, holding the Storm Chasers to one run on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings of work. He walked two batters and struck out six during his 98-pitch effort. The Sounds (28-43) took an early lead with an unearned run in the first inning against Omaha starter Mike Montgomery. Schafer led off the frame with a single, moved to second on a groundout, and hustled around to score when Storm Chasers second baseman Anthony Seratelli made a throwing error after fielding a Travis Ishikawa grounder. Peralta escaped a two-out, bases-loaded jam in the top of the third inning when second baseman Eric Farris made a spectacular diving stop to his left on a sharp Salvador Perez grounder and threw out the catcher to end the frame. (Audio) Nashville increased the lead to 3-0 in the third after loading the bases with no outs against Montgomery. Farris drew a leadoff walk then moved to second when Schafer's bunt up the first-base side eluded a pair of Omaha defenders for an infield single. Cesar Izturis followed with a sacrifice bunt, which Perez fielded just in front of the plate and threw late to third in an attempt to retire the lead runner, loading the bags full of Sounds. Ishikawa, the next batter, fell behind 0-2 against Montgomery before recovering to draw a walk to force home Farris for a 2-0 lead. Andy Gonzalez followed with a double-play grounder, which plated Schafer with the frame's second run. Omaha got on the board in the top of the sixth inning, plating a run against Peralta to cut the Nashville lead to 3-1 when Tony Abreu rapped a single and later came plateward on Seratelli's two-out single to left. Gonzalez staked Nashville to a 4-1 lead in the home half of the sixth when he led off the frame by belting his fifth home run of the year and second of the series, a solo shot to left off Montgomery. (Audio) The Sounds' bullpen followed Peralta with 3 1/3 scoreless frames to close out the victory. Donovan Hand worked 1 1/3 innings, Vinnie Chulk tossed a scoreless frame, and Jim Henderson earned his team-leading fifth save with a 1-2-3 ninth. Mongtomery (3-3) took the loss for the Storm Chasers after allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits over six frames of action. Izturis played a scheduled five innings at shortstop for the Sounds in game two of his rehabilitation assignment. He went 0-for-2 with a sacrifice bunt at the plate, grounding out and reaching on a fielding error. Ishikawa served as Nashville's designated hitter for the second straight game and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. Following a league-wide off day tomorrow, the Sounds continue their homestand on Tuesday by welcoming Oklahoma City (AAA-Astros) to town for a four-game series. Nashville has lost 11 of its 12 games versus the RedHawks this season. Right-hander Claudio Vargas (2-0, 4.21) will start Tuesday's 7:05 p.m. series opener for the Sounds. Oklahoma City will counter with left-hander Wes Musick (1-2, 3.14). Box Score This is my last Nashville game for now, and I need to apologize to Jeff Hem and the whole Nashville crew for not being able to tune in as often as I had hoped. Jeff is usually full of great information on players, scouts, and staff alike. Hopefully he receives more credit from the next Link Reporter. He has absolutely provided some must hear interviews throughout the first half and I expect that to continue. Now, with Schafer on fire, Gindl showing a pulse Thornburg moving up and Peralta making progress, that team might make some noise in the second half. Farewell Nashville, best of luck going into the 2nd half. On to the game. Wily Peralta needed that. It was a bit of a struggle, and Eric Farris is the best-est, but Willy scratched his ERA back under 6.00. Now the march for 5.00 begins. 5.2 IP 8 H 1 R 1 ER 2 BB 6 K 1 WP 8:1 GO:FO on 96 pitches and 61 strikes. He is trending in the right direction no doubt. Donovan Hand, Vinnie Chulk and Jim Henderson, all of whom are having nice season in the AAA 'pen, finished the final 10 outs scoreless. Logan Schafer is seeing beach balls right now. He has his average up to .2996 after going 3-4 with a SB (10). Through 16 June games, Logan is hitting .421. Cesar Izturis and Travis Ishikawa both made rehab appearances, and both went hitless. Game Log Hard hit outs. Omaha Top of the 1st Irving Falu flies out to left fielder Jay Gibbons. Johnny Giavotella called out on strikes. Wil Myers doubles (7) on a line drive to center fielder Logan Schafer. Clint Robinson lines out to right fielder Caleb Gindl. Omaha Top of the 2nd Salvador Perez walks. Sounds Hang Ten On Omaha For Doubleheader Split 06/16/2012 9:59 PM ET Nashville Sounds NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds batted around and exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 10-3 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers in the doubleheader nightcap on Saturday night at Greer Stadium. The victory gave the Sounds a doubleheader split, which was the third of the season and moved the club to 4-6 in doubleheader action. The seven runs scored in the inning set a season-high for the Sounds while the 10-spot matched a season-high previously set on June 11 at Memphis. Prior to the contest, the Sounds had only scored 18 total runs in the sixth inning all season. (Crazy stat of the week winner) Travis Ishikawa (left oblique strain) made his first rehabilitation appearance for Nashville and went 2-for-4 with a double (Audio) and three RBIs as the team's designated hitter. Shortstop Jeff Bianchi, and outfielders Jordan Brown and Jay Gibbons each added two hits. Nashville starter Mark Rogers recorded a no-decision, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks in five innings of work for a no-decision. The 26-year-old also matched a season-high with six strikeouts with 101 pitches (56 strikes). Reliever Mike McClendon (3-3) closed the door with two scoreless frames and the victory. Jordan Brown led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a single and was replaced by pinch runner Corey Patterson. Reliever Jeremy Jeffress then threw 10 straight balls, including a wild pitch that allowed Patterson to score the go-ahead run from third. After another walk to load the bases, shortstop Hainley Statia knocked a weak grounder past the shortstop to score Sean Halton. After a Logan Schafer sacrifice fly and Bianchi single, Ishikawa crushed a three-run double to right -center to clear the bases. The final run of the frame came from an RBI double from Patterson. The two teams traded runs through the first five innings, beginning with Omaha in the top of the first. Royals' prospect Wil Myers worked a two-out walk and came home to score the game's first run on the next play on a two-base fielding error on Brown. The Sounds knotted the contest at 1-1 in the bottom of the second and only managed to score one run. With no outs and the bases loaded, catcher Jason Jaramillo grounded into a double play that scored Brown. In the next inning, Myers uncorked his 11th homer of the season over the right field wall to give the Storm Chasers a 2-1 lead. Nashville again tied the game at 2-2 in the home half of the third. Schafer blooped a double over the third baseman's head and scored two batters later on an Andy Gonzalez sacrifice fly. Gibbons gave the Sounds a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth with a towering homer onto Chestnut Street. (Audio) The long ball was Gibbons' third in his last five games. Omaha came back to score a run in the top of the fifth to knot the game at 3-3. Irving Falu worked a four-pitch walk, stole second base, and came home to score the tying-run on a Clint Robinson RBI single. Omaha starter Will Smith (1-4) took the loss after scattering eight hits for four runs in five plus innings. The teams wrap up the series with a 2:05 p.m. matinee finale on Sunday afternoon. It will be a battle of organizational top prospects as right-hander Wily Peralta (1-8, 6.34) mans the bump for the Sounds to face Omaha southpaw Mike Montgomery (3-2, 4.81). Box Score In a complete turn around from G1, the Sounds matched a season high in runs scored with 10. Logan Schafer led off and went 1-3 with a 2B. Former Storm Chaser Jeff Bianchi hit 2nd and went 2-3 with a BB. Ishikawa hit 3rd and went 2-4 with a 2B. I could on, but I hope you get the point. Everyone contributed. Check the box score and enjoy the prettiness. Mark Rogers got the start and he was pretty good. 5 IP 4 H 3 R 2 ER 4 BB 6 K 1 HR 2:1 GO:FO. He will need to string a couple starts like this together in order to rescue his season line. As usual, even a decent Rogers is tough to hit. Mike McClendon had his best game of recent memory pitching 2 scoreless innings. I absolutly loved the Jeremy Jeffress pick when we made it. He posted an 135.00 ERA on the evening. Sounds Blanked By Omaha In Twinbill Opener 06/16/2012 8:36 PM ET Nashville Sounds NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A trio of Omaha hurlers combined on a three-hitter as the division-leading Storm Chasers hung an 8-0 defeat on the Nashville Sounds in the opener of a doubleheader on Saturday evening at Greer Stadium. Left-hander Everett Teaford (4-0) worked five scoreless frames to earn the victory for the Storm Chasers. He allowed three hits and retired the final nine batters he faced. Francisley Bueno worked a perfect sixth before Brandon Sisk closed out the contest with 1-2-3 seventh. The Omaha pitchers combined to retire the final 15 Nashville batters in succession. The loss was the sixth shutout suffered by Nashville (26-43) this season. Jeff Bianchi, Andy Gonzalez, and Dayton Buller each singled to account for the Sounds' lone hits in the game. Right-hander Marco Estrada made his first rehab start for the Sounds as he recovers from a right quadriceps strain. He allowed one hit over three scoreless frames, walking four batters and striking out two. He threw 59 pitches (34 for strikes) and took a no-decision. The visitors broke a scoreless deadlock in the fourth when Omaha third baseman Irving Falu belted a three-run home run off Sounds reliever Victor Garate (2-4) with two outs. David Lough (single) and Derrick Robinson (walk) both scored on the blast, Falu's fifth roundtripper of the year. The Storm Chasers wrapped up the contest's scoring with a five-run seventh against Sounds right-hander Brian Baker. After Wil Myers opened the frame with a walk, designated hitter Clint Robinson upped the visitors' lead to 5-0 when he crushed a two-run homer to right, the slugger's ninth longball of the season. Omaha continued the rally by loading the bases on a pair of single followed by a fielding error by Sounds second baseman Eric Farris before Derrick Robinson plated the frame's third run with an RBI single to left, which chased Baker from the contest. Johnnie Lowe took over and walked each of the first two batters he faced to force in two more runs to bring the score to its final 8-0 standing. Cesar Izturis (strained left hamstring) also made his first rehabilitation appearance for Nashville and went 0-for-3 with three groundouts as the team's designated hitter. Box Score The offense deployed a stinker and that will not work against Omaha. They are loaded with production from their hitters. Marco Estrada, Cesar Izturis and Travis Ishikawa all made rehab appearances during the double header. Estrada made the G1 start and Cesar started G1 while Ishi started G2, both as DH's. Caleb Gindl lead off and went 0-3. Logan Schafer DNP. Eric Farris made his 4th error of the year. He always has been regarded as a solid fielder so you should not be surprised by that low number. Sadly, none of the pitchers were at their best. Estrada was very effective but very wild with 4 BB in 3 IP. He did allow only 1 H to a very potent lineup however. Expect Marco back in Milwaukee shortly. Game Log Victor Garate roughed up. Omaha Top of the 4th Pitcher Change: Victor Garate replaces Marco Estrada. Tony Abreu called out on strikes.
