Lead off jack for Braylon Payne in G2 -
T-Rats fell short 5-4. Fischer K'ed after some monstrous hacks. Adamczewski had an infield single. Pena messed up and should have been out at 3B, but the ball fell out of the tagging glove. With one out and men on the corners and down one, Bitonti struck out looking on a heater down the pipe. That's 10 push-ups, kid. Not ideal. Dickinson grounded out to end it. Really excited for Dorchies. Very Letsonian trajectory.

Down 5-4 and now in bottom of 7 (last inning). Pena talks a leadoff walk (3rd of the day). Fischer up.

Fowler did it! Fastball was 94-95 and the curve was a tight spin 79-80. He was landing the hook on the outside corner to lefties.

Wande left one way arm-side and hit a dude with the bases loaded. Tie game. Let's see if that vaunted Michael Fowler curveball can keep the game tied.

Wande Torres is more 91-ish now. Using the breaking pitch effectively. The mechanics are a little out of sync. Looks to me like his arm is dragging/lagging and he is leaving everything up and/or arm-side.

Two more solid plays from Fischer, first one was scooped by Bitonti, sandwiched a Braylon Payne run-down on a hard-hit liner. Good range on both. And good body control on the throws.

Wande day! Hip hip! 1st pitch, 95 MPH bullet fouled off. Next one, 96.

I just LOVE seeing Brewers-style baseball up-and-down the levels. Brice Turang cut down Jac at home on a perfect steal defense play. Then moments later, I'm watching Luis Pena work a 3-2 walk (2nd walk of the day), followed by a Fischer single, and then a perfectly executed double-steal by Fischer and Pena to get Pena home. He needed a perfect slide to do so.

Haven't seen anything above 92 MPH from Meccage. He was up to 95 in Spring....I think it's just cold. The depthy curve is still present. Fischer handled a hot shot and put a strong throw on Bitonti's chest for the final out in the 2nd.

Feel bad for Bryce Meccage. He labored through the top half, was saved by a fantastic play from Luis Pena at SS, and now is sitting in the cold watching this long inning.

I liked what I saw from Boeve tonight. Besides the home run, he had a few other explosive looking swings. He was definitely still working his way back last year. He needed an offseason reset. Let’s hope it worked.

Yes, the hitters were very late. And it was the heart of the Fayetteville order. The announcers mentioned it was 92 but it was one of the first ones he threw.

Dylan O'Rae is a menace. I hope they convert his 3rd batted ball to a hit because I am pretty sure he was going to beat the pitcher to 1B even with a clean attempt by the first baseman.

Keith opens the season hitting cleanup behind O'Rae, Made, and Burke in AA. Good call on this one.

I understand that. We are at the mercy of whatever intern/human is charting the pitches. I don't believe the charting was all that far off on this particular at bat as I was also watching the game live. I know you are too. I would have called the first pitch a strike. It's fine you don't think so. Gamecast margin of error +/- an inch or two? No. But the charting, plus what I was watching, can still be directional enough for me to say I thought the ump was horrible on those handful of pitches. No?
