  1. What is Torres' contract situation? Is it just this year, or does it go beyond?
  2. I want Torres in the closer role just so it forces Ned to somewhat limit his innings. He's being overworked, and this won't give Ned the opportunity to pitch him 2 innings.
  3. When rluz posted the stats a couple of weeks ago, Hardy had saw the 2nd most strikes on the team. It's kind of a baseball myth that you're pitched around in front of the pitcher.
  4. I'm certainly not wealthy, but if I go to 2 or 3 less games this year it becomes affordable.
  5. Yeah, I wouldn't mind going to this. The Weeks' are good people. I know his dad sets up charities for inner city FLA kids in the offseason, and by all accounts Rickie is a classy dude. And yes TLB, you're about the only guy on this board that I can probably say is a bigger fan than I.
  6. Agreed. It was a satisfying and exciting win. Bill got on and caught the Braves sleeping. But he had a terrible at-bat with great results. I'm certainly happy for him, but my opinion of Bill Hall hasn't changed.
  7. Quite a debut. 3 for 3 with a double and 2 walks! Wow.
  8. I think we'll see Weeks get a night off. At least he usually does against Hudson.
  9. I like the Redd and Yi for McGrady trade. But I'd be really upset if they took Augustin. He's the one guy I'd be really upset with as a draft pick. If they move Mo to SG, they need to draft a combo guard that can defend, otherwise that backcourt would be abused defensively. Russell Westbrook would make so much sense if this scenario went down.
  10. For me, this is pretty much the main reason. I'd just like to see the front office let the top prospects dominate each level before for about a whole season before being called up and becoming regulars. Hart's minor league career examplified this the best, as well as Fielder to a lesser extent.
  11. He's been dissapointing, but where you're picked shouldn't really matter. He was the consensus #2 pick, and has outperformed the #1 by a lot.
  12. The temp was nice, but what is with all the wind? Since I've been back from Milwaukee, every day here except Saturday has had gusting winds. It makes it tough to do just about any outdoor activites. I have been itching to take out the boat, but the lake has been really rough.
  13. Oh my. While that went our way, MLB umps are outta hand.
  14. I had them on at work during the Pittsburgh series and Powell said the same thing about PNC.
  15. Ugh. Thought that it was a hit off the bat. Nice camera work fsn.
  16. Certainly helps, doesn't it? But instead of seeing the Zach Duke's and Phil Dumatrait's of the world, we had to go up against Ian Snell and Tom Gorzellany, who are definitely quality pitchers. And up until Redding blew up in the 5th or 6th, he looked nasty. There's gotta be a silver lining to not missing an ace or aces yet. You'd think that's gonna start to even out soon.
  17. I would probably keep the same infield again. I don't think the problems lie on the position players of the team, so pitching imo is much greater weakness. If a team blows me away on an offer for Prince, I trade him and start either LaPorta or even Gamel at 1st. (Is Gamel a somewhat realistic option to play there? You'd think he'd be fine even if he's a hack at 3rd.) In a perfect world, I'd like to give the stud prospects a full year at AAA next year, taking more of the same path Hart did. And then make room for the prospects after the 09 season.
  18. That is about the .OPS I predicted in the offseason prediction thread for him. I think its sustainable for the rest of the year, as that BABIP isn't even that high. Good stuff TLB.
  19. You'd only be doing this for the rest of the year though. Once the players received contribute and the team starts winning again, the casuals will be back. I'm sure if we trade Sheets, it means we have no shot at resigning him.
  20. Yeah sure doesn't make a lot of sense. Lopez is pretty quick anyways. He'd be really tough to double up.
  21. He seems to have pretty decent movement as well. I like him. I know he's only pitched 3 innings up here, but he looks like he could be a solid closer right now.
  22. As bad as that probably hurt, Weeks probably loved it against this guy.
