  1. That is a HUGE break. He seems to be on base all the time. I felt like we needed one in this series and that two would be great. I am a greedy man and would like to get number 2 right here
  2. I can we would have a 12 game win streak if we had even an average defensive ss. The Wednesday game at home with two outs and nobody on in I believe the 11th inning Holliday hits a little dribbler up the middle that 25 out of 30 short-stops in mlb get the out but Betancourt doesn't. Holliday steals 2nd, Berkman drives him in and we lose the game. His defense has jeporadized 2 of the last 4 games we have played against the Cardinals. And we probably would have lost a game or two with a poor hitting SS over that same span because Yuni's bat has been well above average for a SS. I just dont get the arguments about Yuni. He is not good, he is not average, but right now he is playing okay so lets enjoy the ride. The "I told you so" crowd will probably have to eat crow in a few weeks but right now the guy is helping this team. Last night Braun was terrible, Prince was terrible until his last at bat and Yuni wasnt good either yet we still won the game.
  3. That is what Melvin said he reason was for getting KRod. He said he wanted a bullpen that was fresh in September not one that was wearing down. He has give Ron a great group of arms to work with with Saito, Hawkins, KRod and Axford and even a guy like Loe who when used right is really effective.
  4. I am trying to understand the issue with KRod some people have. People act like Saito has been head and shoulders better than him recently but that is just not true. Both give up base-runners but seem to work out of it for the most part.
  5. Come on! They have won 11 of 12 games and they are on the road against a good St. Louis team and are tied 3-3 and they cant be a serious threat. Yeah they have looked like junk tonight but yet they are still tied and have a good chance to win. It is has been a terrible game to follow but according to this board the sky is falling
  6. I have said this like 50 times this year but I love having a catcher who can hit
  7. Nice inning for Marcum. 3 of their better hitters down with ease
  8. The closest to news we have is Tom H saying two different times it is not Taylor Green and they are mid-tier prospects at best. That was in a chat last week. Some have wondered whether that was speculation or if he had knowledge of the list. He sounded very confident and direct for it just to be speculation
  9. Since the All-Star break Greinke has the 4th best ERA in baseball at 1.38 - only Ervin Santana, Mark Buehrle, and Tim Lincecum have been better. Our pitching staff as a whole has the best ERA in the NL since the break and is behind only Texas in all of baseball
  10. The Brewers have the 5th best record in baseball with Hart, Weeks and Braun all missing time and Greinke having a poor first half stat-wise. This team is set up to make a serious run at the World Series as their roster stands right now. Yuni and Casey do hurt them that is for sure, but they have the enough bats and enough pitching to make a serious run. If the Phillies werent a once in a decade type team the Brewers would probably be the favorite in the NL as of this moment.
  11. We MIGHT have had a good lineup since there is no way to know how Gamel, Lawrie, Cain, and Green really will do in the majors, but one this is for sure our pitching would be awful. We only gave up one prospect to get the two, and Odorizzi has struggled so far in the AA. Peralta is a good prospect but we would have had Yo and thats it this year and next year. I was so sick of signing old pitchers to 3 to 4 year deals. Trading for younger talented pitchers is a lot better. If we are not competing next year we could trade Greinke and Marcum for bats/young pitchers or prospects next trade deadline
  12. With St. Louis looking like they are about to sweep the Marlins both teams are coming into this series hot. It is a road series and the struggles of the Crew on the road are well document, but we have been much better (8-6) after the break. We miss Garcia and Carpenter (unless they skip someone) while they miss Greinke and Narveson. Likely it is Marcum vs Jackson, Wolf vs Lohse, and Gallardo vs Westbrook. I like each one of those match ups for the Brewers. What are people's expectations for this series? In my head I say 2-1 but it is hard for me to be that confident on the road against a good team
  13. I understand, but with how bad we had been on the road I cant be disappointed after a sweep. Hoping for 2 out of 3 in the next series. 1 out of 3 would be acceptable because we would still have a two game lead. I love the pitching match ups. We miss Carpenter and Garcia and throw Marcum, Yo and Wolf. Hopefully we can do some work against Lohse, Westbrook and Jackson.
  14. What concerns me about Odorizzi is the strikeouts and now walking more guys. For some reason it reminds me of Will Inman who had great numbers but once he got to AA he couldnt get the strikeouts without only getting through 5 innings. I understand the small sample size but he is almost half way to sample size he had for high A. I like Odorizzi but he looks like a 2 at best and more likely a 3 or 4 which is still good but not elite. I wish he was still in our system but I love Greinke and we needed pitching. I said this about Odorizzi before his start last night where he gave up 6 run in 4 2/3 innings. 7 more hits, 3 more walks and 2 more home runs. I am know starting to think he must be hurting. He has never been hit like this over a one month period. Hopefully he figures it out because he was one of my favorite prospects when we traded him. Lawrie is hitting very well in his first 3 games. Got his first home run today.
  15. Florida looking to give that lead right back to the Cards
  16. Well at least we are through the "heart" of their order
  17. The other reason to believe this could continue is he did make changes to get where he is at right now. He may not be walking much but he is being much more selective and swinging at pitches in the zone.
  18. Bring in Tim Dillard or Estrada for the last couple innings
  19. Yep. I actually think some people root for Yuni to fail.
  20. Is that farther back than the Greinke talk me off a ledge thread? We had some guys under-performing the first half of the year and they are picking it up now. Zach's ERA all the way down to 4.2. Since the start of July he has pitched 43 innings and given up 10 ER while racking up 53 K's. Those are ace numbers
  21. In another example of foreign players that dont live up to their hype Tsuyoshi Nishioka of the Twins was finally (mercifully) benched. He signed a 3 year deal for 10 million in the offense after the Twins submitted a 5 million dollar bid to his Japanese team. His fielding has been terrible and his OPS is a robust .498. I know he was hurt but he has been back a while now and looks completely lost at the plate and in the field. He is another reason I would be worried if the Brewers got into a bidding war for a foreign player
  22. It is not saying he is not going to be a very good pitcher but it is cause for concern.
  23. Yuni now 3-3 but he could go 7-7 and many would think he shouldnt start. He has had a hot bat recently. There is no reason to talk about sitting him until he cools off
  24. How can a professional baseball player be so terrible at throwing a ball? I used to think Prince's inability to dig balls at first was his biggest weakness as a fielder but his throwing is even worse. Good think he hits a ton
