  1. What concerns me about Odorizzi is the strikeouts and now walking more guys. For some reason it reminds me of Will Inman who had great numbers but once he got to AA he couldnt get the strikeouts without only getting through 5 innings. I understand the small sample size but he is almost half way to sample size he had for high A. I like Odorizzi but he looks like a 2 at best and more likely a 3 or 4 which is still good but not elite. I wish he was still in our system but I love Greinke and we needed pitching.
  2. If they just went by WAR that would be true but we know voters dont do that. If your team makes the playoffs you definitely get bonus points in the voter' eyes
  3. Sure he shouldnt be expected to dominate but I think most are surprised by his lack of success. His K numbers have dropped dramatically. I still think he is a solid prospect, but those numbers should give pause to anyone who thinks we for sure gave up a future number 2 starter. People were acting like we gave up the next Yo (or better) but compare their numbers in their first stint in AA and it isnt even close. Yo was a year younger had way more K's, and gave up way less hits. I dont know if I would say Odorizzi is an excellent prospect. Very good but not elite.
  4. I am not entirely sure on this one. Odorizzi has struggled since his promotion. His K's are done, he is walking more guys, he is giving up more hits, he has given up more home runs and he is not going deep into games at all. Cain is a solid prospect. Escober is an all field no hit SS and Jeffress has struggled. I still like Odorizzi but the buzz about him has definitely quieted since his jump to AA which is the place where we usually find out how good prospects are. I do agree that I would do both over. I think they get us to at least one playoff birth and a good chance next year. Hopefully we can extend one or both. If not we can restock the farm with the great picks they will net us
  5. Great start to this game. IF Casey and Yuni can continue to be even average on offense we are in great shape
  6. I wouldn't http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif I think we'd still be on top of the division if we replaced Marcum with an average pitcher via trade. Lawrie is a douche, sure, but he's a douche who can crush the ball. Are you serious? Not as much about the trade but about us being top in the division without Marcum. Marcum and Wolf were the only guys getting quality starts early in the season. Not only that we have Marcum for another year, a chance to lock him up longer, or trade him next year, or get good draft picks for him. Lawrie could be a stud or he could be a solid OF or he could bust.
  7. I cant see Lawrie being a long-term 3B but he will hit enough for a corner OF
  8. Those articles make me so mad. Here is a quote from Carpenter from the first one, "I watched the replay, and the catcher was setting his glove up high,'' Carpenter said. "There's no need for that when you're throwing 100 [mph]. It's not like I can hit. And he missed by three feet. It's not right. He's a big-league pitcher, he doesn't need to do that." If he cant hit and does not want to be treated like a professional hitter he should just walk up there and strikeout on purpose. I am guessing he doesnt just groove pitches right down the middle when he faces a pitcher
  9. Lawrie gets an RBI single in his first at bat
  10. Peralta gets another mention in the Hot Sheet. He ends up at number 2. Pretty high praise for Peralta "The Scoop: The hottest pitcher in the minors? It may not be Matt Moore. As good as Moore's been, Peralta has allowed only three runs in his last six starts for a 0.66 ERA over that stretch. Peralta is becoming a regular on the Hot Sheet, as it's hard to drop a guy from the list as long as he keeps posting zero after zero on the scoreboard. Peralta's best start of that stretch was his last one—a one-hit, seven inning masterpiece. In a system that's understandably thin after a series of trades, Peralta and Tyler Thornburg are proving that the cupboard isn't bare."
  11. Tony LaRussa better call this guy and complain about journalists being biased and for comments that cross the line
  12. Now have lost 8 of 9 and are 1 game under. It was nice was a nice story while it lasted but it seems like it has ran it course.
  13. 6. Latroy Hawkins not coming set when there's nobody on base.If Tony really cared about this game, maybe he shouldnt have left his starter in there for 120 pitches when he was getting rocked. It was 7-5 when Jackson should have been pulled at the latest.
  14. So in the past two days Larussa has whined about 1. The scoreboard lights 2. Stealing signs 3. Pitching to close to Pujols - never mind Braun being thrown at twice 4. Our announcers being biased - never mind his announcers insane bias against the Brewers untucking their shirts 5. Our fans being mean to him Unbelievable! Good thing it isnt a 4 game series
  15. I understand leaving a guy out there to save your bullpen in a blowout but this was a 2 run game when Jackson should have been pulled and you had him go like 120 pitches. That is terrible coaching.
  16. And Edwin Jackson is getting lit up and one of the other relievers they got in trade pitched poorly in the series. But Furcal has kept them in this game and pretty much won the game last night with a great catch
  17. Now he is calling out our fans for being angry that they hit Braun. He is talking about how much worse the pitches to Pujols were than the two to Braun. I cannot stand LaRussa. You beaned our best (or second best) player in retaliation to a pitch you knew was unintentional. So now you bean guys because our pitches pitch inside!
  18. I am pretty sure 2 2-run home runs and an error are not equal to each other. Besides Casey just wanted to get through Pujols this inning!
  19. I think Braun is cocky but a jerk? I have seen and heard nothing from Braun that makes me think he is a jerk. As others have said he has been great to the community of Milwaukee, has went out of his way to give props to the team, fans and community, he comes across as an intelligent, confident, hard working guy in interviews. Where does the jerk reference come from. In fact he seems to get along really well with players from other teams when he is on base.
  20. I am wondering if Molina got a pitch called a ball that was actually a strike earlier in the game. The umps zone was all over for everybody. His reaction was so far over the top. It was funny to listen to Collin Cowherd bash the Cardinals - namely Molina and LaRussa - this morning. he called out LaRussa's hypocrisy and how it was obvious that they were throwing at Braun. He did give wiggle room that maybe the Brewers threw at Pujols but that makes zero sense since Holliday and Berkman followed, but I dont think he believed the Brewers did it on purpose. I have never had the same disdain for the Cardinals that many on this board have had, but I am getting there. Trying to compare the inside pitch that Pujols got out on the other night to the Braun intentional beaning is insane.
