  1. Can you imagine what this board would be like if we gave up a prospect like Rasmus for 2 months of Jackson and a couple arms? LaRussa really did not like Rasmus so the trade makes a little more sense but Rasmus for 4 years seems like way more value than what they got
  2. This is one of the plays that the adherents for more replay in baseball are going to show over and over again. No way a call like that should decide a game.
  3. Well his one out today was a really hard hit ball that Dempster snagged so he missed on that one
  4. Give me a left-handed reliever and I would love our bullpen. Having guys like Hawkins and Saito as your 3rd and 4th best guys is pretty fun
  5. I think Castro will be very good but along with power he needs to learn to walk a little more as well
  6. Yeah I realize what he was saying. I should have clarified. I was actually just surprised there was only one guy with an OPS over 1.000. I would love to see Braun become one of the all time greats but you are right the walk rate needs to come up and he needs to avoid the month long, injury related slumps
  7. There is only one guy in baseball with an OPS over 1.000 this year. Braun has the 4th highest OPS in baseball right now. 40 HR does seem out of the question
  8. Katin has not played since May
  9. He has passed Prince as the Brewer most likely to win MVP. His stolen bases will probably not rise much more with the lingering injury but his numbers are really solid this year.
  10. But it would give us a lefty in the bullpen. It would give us draft picks for next year as well. Now I dont know if it is the move we need but if we got Kuroda and Carroll I think we would be pretty well set. I would like a bat off the bench but hopefully that could be solved by Gamel being promoted later in the season.
  11. I have think Jack Z is on a very hot seat in Seattle. 13 losses in a row after reaching .500. They are now tied for the 3rd worst record in the AL after having the worst record last year. They are not in an overly tough division and they are not competitive at all. I am not sure if they will give him another year since they are a rather young team and I am not sure how good their minor league system is, but it has been a rough start for the guy at least some here wanted as our GM. I would take him back as our scouting director in a heartbeat.
  12. Just a quick update on some guys Odorizzi - He has struggled in his promotion to AA. Granted it is a small sample but his WHIP is up and his K's are down. In 3 starts he has went a total of 16 innings, given up 16 hits, 7 walks, and 10 ER. He has 11 K's. Cain - Has been very good. Cant be too long until he is up. .907 OPS. 11 home runs. Jeffress - Continues to struggle with control and is still in AAA. 24 IP, 27 hits, 18 walks, and 24 Ks Lawrie - Just returned to action. Only 3 games. 3 for 12 with 5 K's
  13. Thornburg is great again. What are the chances he gets to AA at some point this year?
  14. This has been one of my biggest struggles with this board this year. It is like people want to see certain guys like Yuni, Kotsay, Loe, and Casey fail so they can be proven right, even though in doing so it is like rooting against the team. I understand that maybe if the guys do worse you will get new players who could be better but I just dont understand it with anyone other than Yuni. Casey has been very solid for a couple years. Loe is decent when used right. Kotsay has actually won us a few games. Yuni is bad and needs to be replaced but I will still cheer for him to do well because there is not much out there for SS so this might be what we are stuck with.
  15. Braun - Love the way he plays. He works really hard and understands the game. Now if he could just get a little better in LF Weeks - Similar to Braun but he has improved a lot in the field. He hits the ball so hard. Lucroy - I love a catcher who can actually hit
  16. I think people forget how loved JJ was when he was here. When people say he was underrated I think they forget how highly people valued him. I can remember threads comparing him to the best SS in the game. He had one good year, one very good year, two bad years and an injury shortened season. Considering those results I think we valued him pretty highly. I really liked him as a player and I would have liked for him to come back. Unlike others I would not have liked that contract for a guy who is so hot and cold.
  17. I know this board has been thrilled by Davis' play and frustrated by the teams unwillingness to move him up a level. I am trying to understand why he has not been promoted like most. My main question is, has the organization talked about him at all. I know they have talked highly of some prospects recently like Thornburg, and Manzanillo so I was wondering if they talked much about Davis who has been so good
  18. Buying high on a player is a dangerous thing and that is what the Orioles just did. Hardy is coming off a couple poor years and has been bad minus one great month this year. JJ had an OPS of .695, .685, and .504 in April, May and July. His June OPS 1.094 seems to be the aberration. He is great when he is hot but he has not been hot most of the year. He was a great sell high candidate but the Orioles decided to buy high instead. I am a Hardy fan but if the Brewers would have traded for him and signed him to a 3 year deal I would not have been very happy.
  19. I could see Stetter as well. He seems close to coming back so he could conceivably help right away.
  20. To which he answered: There you go.Well lets just call Gamel back up and we are good to go.
  21. Here is a quote from a Mets fan from the minor league thread. "Anyway, wanted to relay something to you from this afternoon here in NY. Sandy Alderson was on WFAN after his formal press conference, and concluded his interview with the following, in response to a question about when we would learn the identities of the 2 PTBNLs:"We have one guy we're deciding on who has been in the big leagues, has been reasonably successful in the big leagues, he would have a role for us right away and we could decide on him shortly." He says one is a guy who has been reasonably successful in the majors. Could it be a guy like Stetter, Difelice, McClendon, or Rivera?
  22. Guys who have been in the majors and been reasonably successful could be Stetter, Difelice, Mike Rivera, McClendon and maybe a few others. The Brewers have already said they are not giving up top prospects and Gamel is a top prospect and Fielder's replacement
  23. I actually wouldnt be surprised to see Bucci be one of the players. I like him but I am not as sold on him as some are. He has cooled off after a hot start.
  24. Obviously Melvin is talking about our top prospects not in relation to other top prospects. That should take out Peralta, Scarpetta, Thornburg, Gamel, Green and likely Gennett, Gindl and Schafer. I am not sure on Khris Davis, Fiers, or Komatsu
  25. Rumors are the Cards are shopping Rasmus. This makes no sense to me. Even in a down year for him he is putting up ok numbers and is a young, lefty hitting, CF. What type of pitcher could they get in return for him?
