  1. I think Jrue will have a very solid game 5. He wont be expending as much energy on Kyrie on the defensive end and they dont have a guard who can matchup with him well. Middleton has also been playing great. Giannis has had 30 in 3 of the 4 games. If he does that again i feel great about our chances
  2. Between now and August 30th the Brewers have 21 series. Only 5 of those series are against current playoff teams - 2 against the Cubs, 1 against the Mets, White Sox, and Giants. Of the other 16 series 4 are against the Reds - the only other team they play who is currently above .500 albeit just 1 game over. The remaining 12 series have 10 are against teams near the bottom of the league. And then 2 are against the Cards, and Braves.
  3. I love how he works the count. Having him, vogelbach and yelich in the first 3 spots leads to a lot of high pitch counts for opposing pitchers. Vogelbach's last 30 games, he is .241/.388/.456 (.844 OPS) can live with that. Yelich last 14 (seems fair due to the return from injury) .243/.420/.486/.906 Adames has an OPS of .824 since joining the Brewers Narvaez has an OPS of .861 over the last month and that is with injury stuff Garcia has only been .781 over the last month but that still isnt terrible
  4. I love how he works the count. Having him, vogelbach and yelich in the first 3 spots leads to a lot of high pitch counts for opposing pitchers.
  5. In the 3 games of lower spin rates burnes has pitched 17 innings and given up 18 hits with 5 walks. He has given up 3 runs and struck out 28. Those are still incredibly good numbers. Yesterday's problem was missing the zone too. I guess that could be because guys didn't chance pitches due to spin stuff. All that to say I doubt it cause our pitchers to stink. Maybe just not be otherworldly.
  6. Now Richards is making me nervous. Moran owns us. And Yardley is up in the bullpen. Not feeling awesome
  7. Love it! A solid strikeout arm and obviously the team has had success with this strategy before
  8. Well done Milner! Hope he can stick in the majors. Would be nice to have another reliable arm. Nice win for the Crew!
  9. I could see pitching hader. Who else do we pitch? A few of our other bullpen guys could easily allow some baserunners and let it get back to the big bats with a chance to tie
  10. 3 strikeouts and 2 walks. Someone needs to let Williams know it is ok to pitch to a little contact
  11. Alone in 1st and now only a game out of the wild card. Cubs have a brutal stretch continuing. 2 more vs the Padres, 3 vs the Cards, 4 at the Mets, 3 vs the Marlins, 2 vs Cleveland and then 4 at the Dodgers. In that stretch they also play 12 straight games. Looks like a good opportunity to build on our division lead!
  12. If they got 3 catchers it would seem hard to leave Narvaez out. Posey gets the starting spot. Narvaez has the next best OPS. Realmuto and Kelly are next and close so there is time for that change.
  13. Feelings this morning after looking at the box score The Bucks scored 72 in the paint. The high team in the league averaged 55 this year. They also missed at least 5 easy buckets right around the hope. Could have had 80 in the paint. They do that again next game they win. If the bucks make 3s and FTs they should have no problem scoring. If they are at season averages from 3 and FTs they put up about 130 last night. Defense needs to figure things out. Blake likely won't hit 4 3s again. Had more than 2 once all year. Also the key guys probably can't sit as much. Giannis only had 17 minutes at the half. He should be playing 40 a game easy
  14. Williams has got to start throwing more strikes. I feel like he walks a guy every outing
  15. This is why we just need to get into the playoffs. Those 3 with Hader and a hopefully improved Williams will be a very tough team to face. The 2018 Brewers only had one starter with under a 3.5 era and that was wade Miley who only pitched 80 innings. The 2019 team didn't have a single starter under 3.5
  16. Could be in first with a win tonight and cubs loss. 10-3 since dropping 2 games under . 500 in mid/late May. Pretty impressive turn around. The Cubs have a much harder schedule the rest of the month and the Cardinals are not playing very well. If the Brewers keep up their current level of play they could go into the Cubs series up 3 or more games.
  17. Ashby and Kirby are interesting. Both need to cut down on the walks. Cousins can't be much worse than Richards or yardley
  18. Really? Right now I feel like they have an elite closer. A solid multi inning guy in suter. Boxberger has been solid. After that Williams gas struggled. Yardley and Richards have not looked good and milner is up in the bullpen and a question mark. Seems to me like they need help.
  19. I think with the current state of the bullpen it is fair to look at moves like this and question our approach. With Williams struggling there are only a couple guys in the bullpen I have any confidence in right now. Bickford sure seems better than a couple guys we are giving the ball to as of late
  20. The Brewers have an obvious need for relief pitching at the major league level. They have also not hesitated to bring up starting pitchers to fill roles in the bullpen down the stretch. I dont know enough about our minor league system but who do we have that could make an impact in the bullpen. The one guy I follow closely is Ethan Small and it seems like if he could get his walks figured out he may be the kind of guy who could pitch out the bullpen come august or september.
