How is a $17M cap hit in 2022 for a player who isn't on your team "scot-free"? Exactly. It saves the team 20 million total but they would have to bite the bullet on a lot of cash. Rodger's signed this contract knowing what it would look like at the end of the deal. That fine he doesnt like it now but the last two year's arent a surprise -

It just doesnt make sense. Godley never even stepped in the baseline. He was on the grass the whole way. What exactly should have he done in that scenario?

I agree our OF is not producing what it is paid to produce. JBJ gets more time in my mind. There are some really good players around the league struggling right now. One of JBJ huge issues is the lack of walks obviously. He has always struck out too much but has walked 1/3rd to 2/5th of the times he struck out. He is at 1/27th. If he gets the walks up I think he will trend back toward a .750 or so OPS guy. If he does that with his defense we are in good shape. Garcia just seems prone to super long draughts. He was getting pretty unlucky to start the year and his BABIP is still low for what you would expect. At the same time the last week plus his at bats have just looked awful. Taylor has obviously earned starts but at the same time at least one of Garcia or JBJ is going to need to turn it around for this team.

That was about as much of a "told ya so," post as you can get. Coming back after Knebel goes on the DL and repeating what you'd previously said? Coming back after he gave up 2 runs wouldn't have been much of a told ya so given his entire argument was you can't look at his results based on 3.1 IP...which I don't think was ever the basis for the complaints we'd basically given Knebel away. The argument from many has been that were pro trade has been 1. Knebel cost too much for a reliever with question marks especially given the Brewers payroll and what role Knebel would play in our bullpen 2. Those question marks include injury history 3. And whether he is still a really good relief pitcher After the first month of the season Knebel is hurt again and likely out through the all star break according to reports. His stuff looked good to great right off the bat. He struggled his last two appearances which could both be attributed to injury. The argument can go on all year but right now those who thought Knebel was not worth the risk have some valid points. Those who think his upside was worth holding on to probably do as well but the injury sure muddles that. But the injury question was always a part of the equation -

What year are the bolded numbers referencing? -
Run differential says they are 3rd worst in the nl beg nd mets and nationals. Run differential is usually a better indicator than record at this point (although blowouts do tend mess it up a bit). I just don't see the pirates pitching holding up but maybe they will be a team that gets better as the year goes on. The reality is their run differential could move closer to middle of the road and their record might now get a ton better. Bigger question is what on earth is going on with the Twins? Currently bottom 3 in record and bottom 10 in run differential. Didn't see that coming
