  1. We went from hader up in the bullpen to now facing a position player as pitcher That doesn't happen much
  2. I gave him love after his first at bat this inning. Seems excessive to do it twice in the same inning!!
  3. Of the 9 guys who have hit this inning everyone has a hit or a walk or a sac fly
  4. I feel Yelich has been rung up on a few very questionable strike 3s in the past week. That has to be frustrating as a hitter
  5. Trae Young's "effort" after he shoots and on defense doesnt make me think he is the kind of guy who has it in him to gut anything out
  6. Interesting. That is not how I felt like the 3rd quarter played out. Atlanta's defense wasnt that impressive at all too me. Bucks scored 27 in the 3rd which was right in line with the other 3 quarters, the scored on 12 of 21 possessions which isnt great but ok and when you look at their misses 3 were layups and 3 were open 3s. They also had 2 turnovers that were just awful missed calls - one was a clear foul and the other clearly off the Hawks players foot. It felt like a quarter they could have easily scored 30 plus if they just made open shots. The Bucks were able to get to the rim a lot in the 3rd but Giannis missed a few very makeable layups and they also missed some really good looks from 3.
  7. To back this point right now there are only 3 teams in bottom 15 of payroll who would currently be playoff teams. The Brewers are one of them, along with the As and Rays. Those are two teams I want to be included with. In NL the other current playoff teams have payrolls of - 250 million, 197 million, 173 million, and 154 million. The Brewers are 93 million so the closest team is 61 million more than us. There are non playoff teams that have payrolls of - 184, 171, 166, 155, and 143 million. Our team is functioning with at least 50 million less than these team but is currently ahead of all of them. Our management has figured out how to win with less and has built a really exciting team.
  8. I think they played awful the first 8 or so minutes and had a nice run in the second quarter but really they were not good the whole 3rd quarter and half of the 4th. It may be better to say they had a really good 7 minute stretch in the first half and an amazing 7 minute stretch in the second. But there was a lot of lazy passing, missing open shots, and poor defense. It really wasnt until the end that they cleaned a lot of that up. It just never felt like they were playing really well until end. it is an oversimplification maybe but I didnt think played well before the end. Looked slow and sloppy outside giannis attacking so well
  9. The bucks played pretty poorly for the first 41 minutes of the game. The last 7 they played closer to Friday night. In 4 minutes they went outscored the Hawks by 14. It took the Bucks only playing 4 really good minutes to win this game. That is killer for the Hawks
  10. Another HR for the dodgers. 6 to 0! Unreal to think where the Cubs would be without their bullpen and the bullpen did not look good coming into the year. They are getting career years from 3 or 4 guys
  11. Grand slam for the dodgers! 4-0 lead for them. Keep that lead and let a struggling cubs team, they would be 4-9 in their last 13, take the long trip from la to Milwaukee to face Peralta, woodruff and burnes!
  12. If Lauer could stay away from the blow up inning he would be a fine back of the rotation starter. His splits by inning are weird. He is actually really good in the 3-5th inning, ok in the 1st but brutal in the 2nd and pretty bad in the 6th.
  13. Exactly. Not to mention as Hollinger has pointed out - this isn't something refs called all year so why are they making an issue with it now? This and the constant discussion of Giannis shooting 3s - we get it they aren't his best shot - has made Reggie Miller almost unlistenable. Trae young turns it over 9 tea and misses a ton of bad 3s and Reggie says almost nothing. Giannis takes 2 3s when we are up 30 and he talks about it for 5 minutes. This is the thing I don't really understand. Giannis isn't a bad 3P shooter. He's OK. There's definitely a time he should knock it off, but him taking the occasional 3 is fine. There are lots of players better at driving to the hoop that take random 3s. I think when it looks bad is when they give him 10 feet of space - he should use that space to drive. 100 percent agree
  14. You got me. It is so hard for me to expect a sweep even in the optimism thread!
  15. The Cubs play on Sunday Night Baseball in LA tomorrow night before flying the red-eye to Milwaukee for the series opener on Monday. The Brewers also currently have Peralta-Woodruff-Burnes lined up and listed as their starters for that series. The Cubs don't have their starters announced but it seems like it would be a mixture of Hendricks, Arrieta, and Davies. This series is ripe for us to take 2 of 3 . Also was at the game yesterday. The crowd was great. And Yelich made great contact on 4 of his 5 at bats. Could have easily had another home run and an extra base hit

  17. Cubs lose and Brewers win. No matter what happens tomorrow, we will be alone in first heading into the series with the Cubs!
  18. Yelich but some really hard balls today! That is very promising. Garcia also looked solid. Would be nice to have those guys rolling vs the cubs
  19. Exactly the same here! So glad they didnt listen to my well-informed opinions!
  20. Trae Young only played in one of the regular season matchups. He was 3-17 with 6 turnovers but did have 9 assists. Jrue had 23 points, 7 assists, and just 2 turnovers. That matchup is obviously the key. Jrue's defense should give Young some problems and Jrue's size should cause problems for Young on the other end
