  1. Those aren't great examples of him flopping. Those all looked...pretty legitimate. That was my exact thoughts. If they made a rule based off these they should watch the nba. Brad did have the dirty play against Iowa but overall his "flopping" is not that out of the norm for basketball. His teammates love him. The people I know who know him say he is a great guy. Happy to have him back.
  2. Do the Brewers have anyone whose numbers suggest they are due to regress soon? I know BABIP isnt perfect because it doesnt take type of contact into play but I figured I would look at that to see who is most likely to regress. I would guess Narvaez, his BABIP is really high and obviously he wont sustain what he is doing. Yelich also had an incredibly high BABIP when he was playing. However Yelich also wont strikeout like he did so there may be some evening out there. Shaw is actually just hitting really well. It doesnt look like he is getting lucky. Stats seems to back up his numbers but he could regress some when looking at career numbers. On the unlucky side of thing Garcia is crushing the ball but has a really low BABIP. He seems like he is has a chance to jump up. Urias has a super low BABIP (.158) which will likely jump up. Jackie Bradley Jr is also really low (.227) but has made solid contact. So that should increase and hopefully the K's decrease. And in the small sample size Wong was also super low (.154). Our 1b duo has a really low BABIP as well (1.55 or so combined). So I think it could safely be said that half of our offense is getting fairly unlucky. If those guys even see their BABIP go to .260-.280 that will be a huge jump for our offense.
  3. Also could change if/when Hiura figures it out. And because this is the Optimism Thread, he will. Very true. Hiura figuring things out would go a long way on this team. After last year not many people would have picked Narvaez, Garcia and Shaw leading the way on offense
  4. Another reason for optimism is that right now our weakness looks to be 1b and SS on offense and maybe 7th inning guy in bullpen. Urias is improving already so maybe we won't need an upgrade so if that leaves 1b that is a position that shouldn't cost as much in trade capital. Bullpen arms can cost a little but non closers are usually cheaper. Main point being improving this team will be easier them trying to add a top end starting pitchers, a closer or a 3b power bat. Again all that could change if shaw slumps, urias doesn't improve and a pitcher falters or gets hurt
  5. And maybe Peralta...
  6. Urias has reached base 10 times in the last 5 games. 8 walks and 2 hits. He could walk more in the first two months than Arcia would have in a full season. In 2018 Arcia walked 15 times. In 2019 it was 43 and then last year in was 14 in the shortened season. Urias should stay in the 8 spot. Perfect type of hitter before the pitcher.
  7. Already more runs they when have scored for Burnes in his previous two starts
  8. Does the fact that Crawford was the best we could get for Knebel point t the fact that most teams around the league also didnt want to take a 5 million dollar risk on him? Not sure what other teams showed interested but it didnt seem like a ton. And you had teams like the Twins and others that really needed bullpen help
  9. Look I am happy for Knebel he looks sharp - wish it wasnt with the Dodgers. If you dont like 7th inning guy as a description fine but he was likely at best our 3rd best option out of the bullpen and was going to cost 5 million. A 3rd bullpen arm is very different than a 3rd start so your comparison to Buehler is misleading as well. It is like have a wr in the NLF who is talented enough to be a top 2 wr but on your team he is the number 3 and is coming off an injury and not high level of production. Do you pay him or not since his value on your team isnt the same as it would be on another team? I honestly dont see anyone trying to diminish Knebel. Here are facts 1. He struggled last year. Even when he came back in September his numbers were solid but not elite. 2. We looked to have a few bullpen arms who were better than him last year. 3. We dont have an abundance of money 4. So far Knebel looks really good and it would have been great to still have him
  10. Not a single person here is arguing that from what I can tell. However there were zero guarantees of that and the early returns had not been good. Relievers are often hard to predict anyway so add in injury, struggles after return's and cost the Brewers made a decision almost every small market team would make. I love Knebel. Wish he was still a Brewer but I completely understand why we traded him.
  11. That is a pretty crazy stat. +5 is 4th best. The reds should have an * since they got the Pirates. Also reason for optimism - the cubs are 2nd to last in runs scored when you dont count teams who have missed games due to covid, their starting pitching and bullpen still are average at best and they have already used up 6 of their pirates games
  12. A "7th inning guy who struggled the previous year?" That's really an accurate depiction of Knebel to you? Is that really how anyone would describe Corey Knebel? Umm considering Knebel did struggle last year and would have been behind both Williams and Harder in the bullpen pecking order yes I stand by that comment. Not sure what else he would have been. Sure he could have gotten other late inning opportunities if harder and williams needed rest but with what he did last year and with what we had coming back he wasn't one of our top 2 options and he was going to cost too much
  13. Offense heating up with guys having bounce back seasons - Narvaez, Garcia, and Shaw. Starting pitching has been phenomenal. The bullpen has somethings to work out but Boxberger and JP looking like they can help. This schedule is a tough way to start a season but so far looking decent.
  14. There was always a chance Knebel was going to bounce back. There was almost no chance the Brewers were going to pay 5 million to a 7th inning guy who had struggled the previous year. The Dodgers have the payroll to take the gamble. You can blame the Brewers if you want. You can blame the imbalanced team payrolls in MLB. You can wait to see if Knebel is still rolling in July. You can wait to see Crawford actually pitch.
  15. Saurez at SS is such a trainwreck right now. Maybe he gets better but he just doesn't belong playing there

    Pizza

Late to this thread and fairly new to Milwaukee. We have really enjoyed Fixture Pizza in Walkers Point and Pizzeria Scotty in West Allis. We have tried quite few others but those two are at the top of our list currently. WyEast in Tosa is pretty solid as well
  17. It will be interesting because at this point I assume Bradley will be better than Cain and not just because of the missed season. Bradley was good last year and in 2019 he hit better than Cain even with his second lowest BABIP of his career.
