  1. I came hear to post on that exact prediction. I am sure crazier things have happened but that seems crazy! They would need career years out of Happ, Rodriguez and Norris for sure.
  2. Hopefully some reporter asks Cal the stock question on how he is handling his first trip to the final four!!That would be priceless. Please let someone ask that
  3. Agreed (even though alll four number one seeds getting to the Final Four has only happened once). I'm rooting hard for VCU. VCU or Butler for me. The other side is slime ball coach vs slime ball coach. Calhoun is already suspended for games next year and Calipari has 2 final four runs that have been removed from the record books already. It is funny when they say Calipari is taking his third team to the final four. The first two have been vacated by the NCAA so he is technically his first
  4. CNNSI has it on their front-page and it does not mention Dykstra by name just say Morgan for a minor leaguer. CBSSports does the same
  5. Down 20 now. UNC has gone really cold, but yeah 33 is pretty ridiculous to come back from. However I would say down 20 at the pace of that Butler/Wisconsin game is similar to down 33 at the pace UNC/Marq are playing
  6. He moves well for a big guy. Nice save attempt between his legs. He has a third of Marquette's points at the 11:30 mark. This may have the been the point the Badgers started their run yesterday. Actually I think they started at the 8 minute mark and they ran out of time. Marquette still has time to make a run if DJO or some gets hot from outside but it is easier to comeback against an offense like Butler than one like UNC.
  7. Are people going to be calling for Buzz's offense to go after the start of this game? 15 points against a defense that let Washington score at will last week. It will be interesting to see of Marquette can cut into that 25 point lead. We have seen teams make big comeback - MSU and Wisconsin - only to fall short. Johnson-Odom has been invisible so far. He is too good a shooter to look this bad for a whole game Not a good offensive showing for the state of Wisconsin in the Sweet 16. Both teams missing open jumpers and turning it over too much
  8. I'd argue that the Badgers were blown out. I would bet, however, that Florida is dusting off the full court press as we speak. How can you be blown out when you have numerous chances to cut it to a one possession game in the final minutes? Sure they we beat up early but you can get blown out of a game you had a realistic chance of winning at the end.
  9. Well this better mean Hart is healthy and Gomez is looking ready to play every day.
  10. I was impressed with Butler, but I do think the main reason the Badgers were missing was on them. I only got to watch the second half but they had a ton of good, open looks but they could not hit anything. Butler plays extremely hard, but a great team would have blown the Badgers out last night. Instead, Butler let it get very close and needed a Mack fade away late to keep it from getting really tight
  11. I could not agree more about not having a banger. If you are going to have a power forward (I know that does fit perfectly in the swing) like Leuer who is more of a perimeter guy. You need a center who likes to bang inside. Keaton was just not that guy. Butch, who I thought was soft, was more of a banger than those two. I am actually more excited to see Berggren down low next year. As low as he works on his defense over the summer. He seems to have some post moves and does not have a probably banging inside. Coaches have spoken very highly of Evan Anderson as well. So he maybe able to give Stiemsma type minutes. Bruiser will be more of an inside guy than Keaton. I am interested to see how Kaminsky and Uthoff - two bigs they recruited develop. They both could redshirt though. Hard for bigs outside of Sullinger to have big impacts as freshman in Div 1 bball
  12. Really? Markholf wasnt playing and decided to focus on college. He is a very smart kid who knew his future was not in basketball. Guys who get recruited over end up going somewhere else to play. Markholf could have played low end D-1 or D-2 ball but he did not want to. He wanted to focus on school. This is an entirely different situation. If Markholf ends up transferring to play ball somewhere else I would say you could be right. I do find this funny though because this is the only example any Marquette fan ever has brought up and it is so much different than the Newbill or Roseboro situation it is laughable. Heck, it is closer to Christopherson and he even went to ISU to play. I think I am going to have to wait a really long time for you find a comparable example.
  13. Is it the players or the offense though? Who on this team can take people off the dribble? Taylor only a little and Bruiser. When your 2 and 3 cant do it you are in trouble and that is where the Badgers were. When Harris was here and even Hughes when was healthy. We had guys who penetrated. We just have not been able to recruit that guy who can penetrate. I was not trying to blame Taylor for not posting up. The whole team does not do it, and for the life of me I cant understand why. Leuer just did not post up enough and Nankavil had no moves so maybe that is my answer. I agree with your assessment of the team, but I dont think the swing is to blame. Maybe recruiting, because they opportunities to drive are there, they just are not taken.
  14. The swing offense sucks. I hate it. It's designed to be about as reliant on the jumper as an offense can be. Well it is also meant to rely on posting up but for some reason the Badgers have quite doing that recently. We used to post guards all the time and it just did not happen lately. Taylor is stronger than almost anyone guarding him.
  15. I agree completely. It was good to see their heart. I am actually somewhat excited for next years team. I think Bruiser is going to huge for this team. Skjelly I agree as well. I think the Badger's put forth effort but they simply could not shoot. They had the looks it was just a terrible shooting performance. You get more bounce in your step when you start making shots and that is what happened at the end.
  16. Leuer was terrible tonight. Just an average game or even below average game and they have a chance in this one. Great career. Horrible ending to it though.
  17. 5/23 from from 3. 1/11 for Leuer. 4/15 for Taylor. Crazy we had a chance to cut it to 9 right there. Butler has given the Badgers chances to make it close.
  18. They have had good enough looks but with their defense it may not have mattered if they were on tonight. Butler is simply playing much better basketball all around
  19. Hey 6 minutes in and we score. No way to rationalize this performance this so far. They cannot make a shot and have given up too many good looks
  20. BO already stated he would not talk to Jeter about the game. It is frowned upon to get scouting reports from other coaches. He talked to Jeter this week but alluded to the discussion being about something else - very likely the Bradley offerI've never understood this. In High school, i know all the coaches in my conference would give film tape to the other coaches from their previous games(it was football, but still) if they were playing the other team the next week(for example, Team A played Team B the previous week, A would give Team C the game film, as Team C plays B the next week). Is it concidered crooked or cheating or something?I have no idea. I have never really heard about this until this week. Not sure why this is frowned upon.

  22. Read up on the DJ Newbill situation. Pretty much yanked a scholarship from the kid so that Jamil Wilson could transfer. Newbill had signed a letter of intent to Marquette and when Wilson came available Marquette used some pretty shady tactics to drop him from his scholarship. I have yet to meet a Marquette fan who could justify what happened there. It does not make Buzz a terrible person but it is pretty shady.Wow, if you think the DJ Newbill situation means Buzz should be labeled as dirty, over 90% of D-I basketball coaches should be labeled as dirty. If you look in the dictionary of "dirty" basketball coaches I would say Calipari, Pearl, Sampson would be at the top of the list. Not to mention the next tier of Calhoun, Michigan, etc (schools and coaches that have actually been disiciplined). It's not like Bo has never forced a player out of Wisconsin.... Name one player Bo forced out. I am going to be waiting a long time for this answer. I said it was shady and I stand by that. He recruited a guy and the guy signed a letter of intent and then he booted him. Unethical and shady. No doubt about it. You can make the excuse that everyone does it but that is not the case. I think there are a lot of coaches worse than Buzz but that does not make it okay. I am not the only one who thinks this was a shady move by Buzz because there were a ton of people calling him out after that. If you think it is fine whatever, but dont act like everyone does it when it is just not true. They acted like there was a paperwork problem to take away a kids scholarship so they could give it to someone else. This athlete is bound by his letter of intent yet Buzz just cut him. I love how hard Buzz gets his team to play but this was wrong. I also think 90% is ridiculously high. Oversigning.com does a good job looking at this issue. Here is their, obviously a little biased view, on the situation. Edit - i dont want to turn this into a bash Marquette thread. My initial post was into response to why some thought Buzz was dirty. I am just giving the main reason. You can disagree with me. But hopefully we dont have to rehash this stuff.
  23. That is the main reason I wanted Pitt to beat Butler. I am pretty pumped for this game tonight. Should be a hard fought game. All 6 analysts I have seen on ESPN today have the Badgers losing. I am kind of surprised by that. However they cant seem to get over the Penn State game, even though at 71 points per game so far in the tourney they look good on offense
  24. I think it is terrible system as well. Why a student-athlete is pretty locked into a school no matter what happens, coaches seem able to drop them like a bad habit. I do think people are starting to care about this stuff more. There has been a lot more negative press about the over-signing the SEC does. If you do a quick google search of Marquette and Newbill together and you find some negative press to the situation. Now I dont think this will sway most schools from hiring a coach, but I do think people are starting to wise up to this practice. My post was in response to someone who asked why a poster thought Buzz was dirty. For numerous people actions like this scream unethical or dirty and I agree.
  25. It may be somewhat common but that does not make it right. I can see why some may think it is okay for a new coach to do something like this, but Buzz was not a new coach when this happened. He recruited Newbill and then just discarded him. It is really unethical in my mind.
