  1. Wow. Really? The Big East is good because they are deep not because their top teams are great. Do you really think Pitt or Notre Dame is going to blow out Ohio State. Show me one Big East with more talent in their starting five. The Big East is not some tournament powerhouse. They sent 2 teams to the sweet 16 last year.
  2. A couple of those were wide open but most were contested. Diebler is just unconscious right now. The Buckeyes have more talent than any team in the Big Ten and when they shoot like this they are almost unbeatable. Heck the Badgers at at 48 with 12 to play. Nothing wrong with the offense
  3. Missouri State now joins the bubble teams. Will be interesting to see if they sneak in with the bubble being weak.
  4. I never understand why they decide to show games so close together. Leave some buffer in between.
  5. Bo Ryan has the second best road record in the Big 10 since he came to Wisconsin behind only Ohio State. Nobody wins consistently on the road. Road wins are not a good predictor of the NCAA tourney anyway because they are not true road games. Now if historically Wisconsin struggles in their early season neutral site games then you are on to something. Also to homer's point. That UNLV game was shortly after losing Brian Butch who was a huge player for that team. Without Butch the Badgers which probably closer to a 6 seed. They would have been ranked around 20-25 not top 10
  6. First off, it's always about matchups. Secondly, the Badgers don't really defend all that well. They will probably lose in the tourney while having an average offensive performance and a terrible defensive performance yet everyone will harp on the O. For some reason the team's very average defense is being ignored this year. It's not a bad defense but compared to what we're used to at UW it is just not very good. It is not being ignored by Ryan. Ryan says Badgers defense lacking. That was from 2 or 3 days ago.
  7. Walker and Fredette really aren't true PGs. They are score first guys. Taylor gets the entire team involved, scores when necessary, and has a more complete game as a PG.Here is a great article on Taylor being the best pure point guard in college basketball. Just a couple quotes from it."By my count, Jordan Taylor isn't just in the discussion for the best point guard in the country. Nope. He IS[/i] the best floor general in the sport, hands down. Nobody exemplifies the position better. Nobody takes better care of the ball. Point guards aren't supposed to take 25 shots every night and pass only when double teams come their way. It's easy to go ahead and label players like Jimmer Fredette and Kemba Walker as point guards because of their size, but that distinction is very much based on where these guys fit as NBA players, and not necessarily how they play in the college game. To clarify this, Jimmer gets my vote as the best shooting guard in the country. Hopefully that doesn't come as a shock to anyone." Taylors assist to turnover ratio is 4.12 which is 1.3 better than any other guard and he has had zero games with more than 4 turnovers. He is great from the line and from three. I still dont think he will go pro because he does not seem to have much love from mock draft sites. If he can grow in driving and scoring I think he can jump a lot. He is also shorter so that hurts him.
  8. Right now I just dont see how BYU and San Diego State would be ahead of the Badgers. San Diego State has lost their two biggest games and BYU just showed the tournament how good they were without Davies. All I care about is the Badgers getting a 3 seed. It is such an easier run than a 4 seed.
  9. Is the Seton Hall game a must win for Marquette? No road game is easy but the big boys in the Big East have fed off those bottom five teams (Seton Hall, South Florida, DePaul, Providence, and Rutgers). Seton Hall has only beaten one good Big East team all year so it is a game Marquette should win. They were considered an 8-10 seed before tonight. Lunardi, Glockner, and Palm who seem pretty accurate most years had them at a 10. A lot of the other bubble teams lost tonight though, so Marquette should be pretty good.
  10. I expect Michigan to beat MSU. That is a home game for Michigan and they beat MSU on the road already. They seem to be trending up whereas MSU is impossible to figure out. It is pretty close to an elimination game for both teams
  11. Really weak bubble this year. Three extra spots, not many good mid-majors, and some of the power conferences are down as well (SEC, PAC10, ACC). That said I cant see MSU being a tourney team. I have seen them get blown out like 3 times in conference play. They are in because people are putting stock in how many quality losses they have. SOS should only matter if you beat the good teams.
  12. Great win for Marquette. They are in as long as they dont go something like 1-3 with their last 3 than the Big East tourney
  13. You are completely right. If Keaton is on, the Badgers could make a deep run. We already know that Taylor and Leuer can score, but Keaton gives them another weapon. With he and Leuer both being 3-point threats it really stretches a defense out. Not only that but the other guy you brought up - Gasser - is becoming a threat to hit double digits. 4 of his last 8 games have been double digit scoring games. He also plays solid defense. Even in the Purdue game they lost this week I think this team showed something. Keaton struggled, Leuer was great but I had to sit a long time with foul trouble, and Taylor did not get going until there were 4 minutes left yet they were still right there with a top 10 team on the road. The rise of Gasser and fall of Blue throughout this season has been crazy. Blue can barely see the floor right now and seems to turn it over more than he scores. Gasser has become a better shooter and defender as the season has gone on. I still wish the Badgers had Blue, but not over Gasser but over Brust
  14. Badgers and Marquette both do what they needed (and were expected) to do with their weekend games. Comfortable wins. I will be interested to see how much the Badgers drop in the rankings after a loss at Purdue.
  15. We get it. You think Braun stinks at defense, but do you need to say something about it all the time? I know he is not great but you seem to have an unhealthy issue with his defense.
  16. http://brewersfandemonium...e-same-to-me-like-a-bust My favorite part of that thread is the guys saying Callix Crabbe was better than Weeks. It is funny to read old threads sometimes
  17. Breakout - Braun and Gallardo. I think he puts up numbers similarly to the start of last year through this year. Barring injury I am expecting top 3 in MVP voting for Braun. As for Gallardo I know some are down on him, but I think the strength of the rotation allows him to not have to try and be perfect and just go out there and pitch. He may not be an 8 inning an outing kind of guy but I think he has a very good year. Honorable mention - Randy Wolf, Lucroy Disappointment - Hart. He scares me. Reminds me of Hardy. When he is on watch out but when he gets in a prolonged slump you dont even need to pitch a strike and he will flail away.
  18. For as many shots as they missed, Leuer getting in foul trouble and as poor as the defense was, they were still right in that game at the end. They went to the Jordan Taylor isolation play to late in the game but in the last 4 minutes he could get to the rim whenever he wanted. Not sure what was going on before that.
  19. It's not even remotely debatable that Wisconsin has a much superior resume and they simply are a better team. I didn't think the Badgers would be this good this season. I expected them to make the big dance as Bo always does, but be more of an 8-9 seed type of team, not the 3-5 seed i see them ending up as. The development of Taylor has been amazing though, to the point i think he's Wisconsin's best and most important player, even over Leuer. Where i'm very concerned about them in regards to the NCAA Tournament is that they are so reliant on the perimeter jumper, especially the three ball and while most teams shoot better at home, their splits are pretty extreme. Home: 14 games FG: 348/720 (48.3%) 3's: 132/301 (43.9%) Road/Neutral: 11 games FG: 236/579 (40.8%) 3's: 77/246 (31.3%) Wisconsin will have a tough time winning any game in the tournament if their threes aren't dropping, they take (over 20 per game). Unless they can buck this trend of shooting great at home, but tending to shoot much worse from the perimeter away from the Kohl Center, i'm not sure how they can win multiple games vs good teams because so much of their offense is based on shooting jumpers/threes, with few to no easy baskets in transition. I agree completely. I will be surprised if this team makes it out of the opening round because they are so reliant on 3's. Last night they could not hit anything in a game that was there for the taking.
  20. So losing close is a good thing? I have never heard the committee use this as a criteria before so I doubt they do this year. Marquette has played some tough top 25 teams but they are like 2-9 in those games. You are right Wisconsin does not have an awesome resume and that is why they will be a 4 seed, but considering they knocked Marquette off in Milwaukee I think their resume is a little better. Wisconsin's wins over Illinois, Michigan St., Minnesota and even Michigan will look about as good as the West Virginia win once WVU plays decent BE competition. WVU is 1-5 vs ranked Big East teams and still has 4 more games to go. They are likely to be around 19-11 come Big East tourney time. The Badgers have a pretty good record against the rpi top 100 10-6, Marquette is 5-11. Marquette is 3-10 vs RPI top 50. Wisconsin is 6-5. Wisconsins SOS is 34 to Marquettes 31. Not really comparable resumes. I know RPI is not the greatest ranking but it gets the point across clearly. Marquette has lost far more than they have won against potential tourney teams. Wisconsin has been just above .500. I just dont see a good resume for Marquette because close loses dont mean anything other than you will lose by less in your first round game. I think Marquette will get in bc they are right on the bubble right now. Palm had them as one of the last 4 teams in.
  21. Having second half leads does not mean you are good. They are more like the Packers team that went 6-10 in Rodgers first year. They show glimpses but cant sustain it a whole game. Against decent competition - not Prairie View AM, Bucknell, South Dakota, Longwood, Centerary, and Mississippi Valley State - Marquette is 9-11. I am being generous in calling UW-Milwaukee, Green Bay, South Florida, Rutgers and DePaul decent. That is not a tournament quality resume. Now they could easily finish 4-1 and I think 19-12 probably gets them in. But if we start saying, "Well you played good teams close so you should get in" I think the tourney has been watered down.
  22. It's crazy that a team with so few big men also has bad point guard play. I still think they get in the tourney but i cannot see them winning more than one game - and that seems generous.
  23. I really hope that number is right but I am guessing closer to 4 years 40 million
  24. They are lucky the bubble is very soft this year. With the Pac 10 and ACC way down this year and 4 more teams getting let in it opens the door for teams like Marquette to get in. They have no reason to be in the tourney with their record - especially on the road - but they still have a decent chance.
  25. That is a tribute to coaching and recruiting. I was talking to my dad about this exact same thing. We always have guys who it seems like are going to be hard to replace, but we some how do replace them. I expect Bergerren, Bruiser and someone else to come in and get minutes to help.
