  1. Is there a single pick so far tonight that has not been a great pick according to the MLB Network guys? I am only being partially sarcastic because I missed part of the draft. Has there been a pick they have not liked?
  2. Does Arnett go straight to the Timber Rattlers?
  3. Well a lot of people are going to love that pick. Like Lawrie last year the guy people were asking for is who we got.
  4. Anundsen the hard luck loser even though he has a nice line 7 IP, 6 K, 4 hits, 3 walks, 2 ER. I am impressed with Anundsen's k/9 rate so far this year. I have to believe he is a guy who could go to AA at the break. He has an ERA under 2 for the first half of the season.
  5. Minor wasn't an overdraft relative to the mock drafts because everyone anticipated him being overdrafted in the first place. That makes sense. Was he an overdraft because he was signable?
  6. PGCrosschecker had Minor going 8 to the Reds and BA had him going like 16 with a comment that he would not last that long. I do not know a ton about these guys but Minor does not seem to be a reach compared to the mock drafts but the way people talk about him make his stuff seem questionable for that high of a pick
  7. I agree that the announcers are too positive about every pick. Both Sanchez and Hobgood seem like they could have had negative comments said. I miss Kiper and McShay even though I think they are wrong a lot at least they have strong opinions.
  8. I think they said they thought he out-priced himself. He has a football scholarship but apparently that did not scare the Padres.
  9. How long do they have between picks in the draft? I am going try and catch the first round but I have a meeting tonight. I know very little about the players in the draft so I just rely on the knowledge of the people on this board. Keep up the great insight guys.
  10. Shocking news. Brevard County is under a rain delay. Hopefully this passes because I was excited about both Jeffress and Anundson going the same night.
  11. I just do not see a first-place team trading a solid every day starter for a minor league pitcher during the season. Like others have said Hardy will be much talked about after the season in regard to trades. The Brewers should be in good position to get great value for him because they do not have to deal.
  12. Escobar is a double away from the cycle. He batted second to last in the 7th. So he is 8 batters in two innings away from a chance. Considering he has been a doubles machine lately he has a good opportunity to do it as long a couple Sounds help out and get on base. Edit. The first three batters get hits for the Sounds in the 8th to take the lead. Katin with another home run. Escobar definitely will get a shot.
  13. Something tells me Escobar has a pretty good shot cracking the BA hot sheet unless the two day lay off after today hurt his chances
  14. Trey Watten was stellar before a rain delay after the 5th. He went 5 innings of 1 hit, 1 walk ball. He struck out 3. 3:1 ground ball to fly ball rate as well. He had a bad May but his last two starts have been very encouraging. Hopefully, he is turning it around.
  15. Brad Hawpe could easily make it as an OF and Ryan Zimmerman could be the 3b on the team. I would say Dunn and Zimmerman both have better shots and are more deserving than Johnson. Prince leads Ryan Howard in just about every category outside of HR's so I think Prince should be on the team before him. Pujols and Gonzalez are locks.
  16. Ibanez completely deserves to be number 1. Beltran should be in as well. Braun should not slip past any of the other guys on that list. Upton not even being on the list is wrong, but he will get on the team. Braun in what seems to be a ho-hum type start still has an OPS of .963 which is great.
  17. I would be worried about what they would ask for him since he is having such a great year. His home/road splits for his career are actually not as bad as I would expect .901 OPS at home and .862 on the road. This year his OPS at home is an insane 1.247 and a still very good .908. At the right price he would look good over Corey Hart, but if he is on the market I am guessing the bidding from certain teams would get higher than I would like.
  18. One of the knocks on Escobar the past couple years is that his BABip was unsustainable. How is that number looking this year?
  19. Lucroy with a home run and a couple more hits today. His OPS is now at .721 and has an OBP .100 points higher than his average. He has also walked 29 times compared to 19 K's. Once his BABip gets back to around .300 (his career average is .330) instead of the .265 or so clip it is at now he will be doing fine.
  20. Why are people second guessing bringing Villy in? He had not given up a hit in like 9 innings. Seems we are trying to find a way to blame it on Macha when in reality our second hottest relief pitcher just did not have it today
  21. it is nice to see Lucroy have a couple hits. Looking closer at his stats there are some positives. 28 BB to 19 K's in 188 PA. He has a horrendous BABip at .261. His career BABip had been over .330. If that gets back to .300 he will be having an okay year. He is hitting .245 but has an OBP over .350. His lack of power is what I am most worried about but he does seem to getting more extra base hits lately.
  22. It is easy to bash Maddux but Texas really has improved. Their ERA is .8 less than last year and their WHIP has gone from .158 to .142. He is getting a lot out of a rotation of Milwood, McCarthy, Feldman, Harrison, and Padilla. Seriously, their starters are ahead of teams like Minnesota and Boston in terms of ERA right now.
  23. To really how dominant they have been lately we need to remember early in the year when they blew 7 saves before Hoffman got there. They have 9 on the year but at least one has come since Hoffman since Julio got charged with a blown save against the Marlins. I wonder what their overall numbers look like since Hoffman got here.
  24. I think Heether is a guy who could get a look as the utility guy next year. Get him to play some corner outfield he could be our Mark DeRosa. A guy who is sort of a late-bloomer and has great value because he can play almost anywhere. DeRosa developed good power later in his career, in the minors he never hit more than 8. Both are more of doubles type hitters but I would love to give Heether a try but I just do not think this year is the year. Since Weeks went down McGehee has put up pretty good numbers.
  25. He is going win the NL and the AL? I mean there are not a lot of great candidates for either leauges ROY. The AL has Elvis Andrus and Nolan Reimold for hitters and three pitchers from Oakland Bailey, Anderson and Cahill but only Bailey has good numbers.
