  1. Well lets keep in perspective we are in a division with a lot of offenses that are not very good right. Of the 16 NL teams Houston is 7, St. Louis is 8, Pitt is 9, Cubs are 12 and Cincy is 13 so a majority of the time he would not be facing great lineups. Now obviously the Cubs could get better. It was a great job by the offense and by Burns. He allowed just 6 base runners in over 6 innings.
  2. Well if you go best case scenario like you want with Braddock over Arnett then you should want to do the same with Rogers which means he should be higher than a lot of those other guys. Rogers upside is huge and his injury questions are very real he should be ranked higher in my mind. He is still young and could be in AA pretty soon.
  3. I agree with this. I think guys do get dropped because of their age so why not keep them in and leave it to the Power 50 guys to determine how much age effects someone
  4. Lets hope he can pitch like that against the Cubs. He will be going up against Lilly in the that if I am not mistaken
  5. Burns did exactly what you need to do after a big inning right there. At 78 pitches through 5 he should be able to get at least one more inning but I would have a pretty short leash since he has not made it past 5 in the majors.
  6. Cubs lose. Cards and Reds down 5. Could be a great night if we can keep this lead. Ryan Braun now 3-3 with 4 RBI's against Santana tonight.
  7. How is Lucroy doing throwing out runners this year?
  8. Wonderful managing by Sweet Lou for the Cubbies. He leaves Fukudome in to bat with runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out with a lefty on the mound. Fukudome promptly strikes out. Why leave a guy who simply cannot hit lefty pitching in to face a lefty in a pressure situation. Cubs down 3-0 bottom 8. Cards are down 1 but Pujols has another home run. That guys is really good. It is nice to see Burns hold it together after a really rough first inning. He has given us a chance to win this thing so far
  9. Nice to see Santana over 50 pitches in the 3rd inning. With the way the Crew battered that bullpen yesterday it would be nice to get to them early
  10. I agree on Braddock. He is in AA and that is a long way away, but Axford is already in AAA and in two innings there he already has 4 K's. He will help the MLB team some time this year.
  11. Heether is 27 years old so he may be too old for the prospect list. I know there is an age cut off
  12. In his last 14 games Gwynn has an OBP of .288 and an OPS of .643. I think in a month this nice little story will have faded into the sunset.
  13. Garfield is showing his bat is pretty good, even if it is a small sample size on him. The concerns on him where his bat as he is supposed to play really good defense, so his showing with his bat has helped his prospect status even if in a short time.
  14. I would have to guess Naverson would be first. Even though Naverson is a lefty he just is not that good. CV has had some rough outings but Naverson does not bring much to the team
  15. Doug Davis has been talked about a lot and depending on the price he would make sense. He is a free agent after this year so I am guessing we would get good draft picks for him. Even if he regresses back to a 4.1 or so ERA he would still be valuable to this team right now. He has, for the last five years, been able to maintain a bad WHIP but decent ERA. He is not a world changer, but with Parra struggling with control in AAA and not a lot of in house options he would make sense and he should not cost one the top prospects.
  16. Braddock and Wooten both help close down the game. Wooten pitches a scoreless 9th for the save. He gave up one hit and struck out one. Stern hit a solo shot in the first and the ninth to pace Huntsville. It is fun to have pitching prospects moving up leagues and pitching well. I am looking forward to Anundsen and hopefully Rogers getting bumped up later.
  17. You thought of three good ones crew but there really are not a ton more that I have found. Of the three guys only Garza had pitched with any effectiveness at the major league level and he cost the Rays a player that was a year removed from being the best prospect in baseball. Volquez had struggled at the majors in Texas before his trade and the trade cost them Josh Hamilton. Kazmir was a while back and that trade was considered awful by the Mets from the start. They are very hard trades to make because it has to be a team with a surplus of young pitching. The Red Sox would fit that bill. They are going to ask for a ton though and of course the Brewers could get young pitching by trading Prince in the off-season and maybe Hardy if he turns it around, but not much else is going to bring back good young pitching, except Gamel or Escobar who seem almost untouchable.
  18. Things have not gone well for Will Inman in AAA so far. In 8 starts he is 0-3 with an ERA of 7.27. In 43.1 IP, he has given up 56 hits walked 16 and struck out just 30. In 5 of his 8 starts he has given up 5 or more runs including 22 in his last 4. After his hot start in AA I am a little surprised by the numbers. I figured I would see how he was doing given our lack of impact arms in AAA and with Jeffress suspension.

  20. You like to bring up stats like RBI's but you do not like when people bring up the fact that in AAA not the majors he is striking out 30% of the time he gets up. His K% is the same as his OBP which is .305. He has a nice OPS, but he is more than likely going to be eaten alive by major league pitching if he strikes out that much in AAA. And he really is not tearing up right now. In June he has an OPS of .767 while striking out over 1/3 of his PA. 34 K's to 3 BB. So, in the last month his OPS is .012 points higher than Hart's in AAA opposed to the Majors. The reality is Katin had a great May but his April and June have been okay. He needs to string a couple months together to get a shot. He has got great numbers with runners on but overall they are not extremely impressive to warrant a call-up.
  21. Who was the last budding ace to be traded? I just don't think trades like this happen very often and if they do you have to give up a ton. What would have we wanted for Gallardo his rookie year? We would have asked for the moon in return. There were rumors the Giants were asking for Fielder and Hardy for Matt Cain!
  22. The Brewers offense this year has an OPS .12 points lower than the Phillies last year. So their offense was better than ours currently is but not by a ton. This year they are better but the argument was that teams with weak rotations can make the playoffs like the Phillies last year, and really the Brewers last year.
  23. What did we make the playoffs with last year? Half a year of both Sheets and CC, Bush, Soup, Parra, and McClung. This year we have Yo, Bush (when he gets back), Soup, Looper, Parra, McClung.
  24. That was a big inning for Soup right there. 4 pitches after what a 40 pitch inning last inning. Sitting at 55 after 3 looks a little better than 51 after 2.
  25. Gameday makes it look like Soup is getting pinched here to the pitcher
