  1. It may be a fluke thing but in a lot of ways so is a long hitting streak and that still gets a lot of publicity. To be fair to ESPN i was listening to espn radio yesterday and one of the guys talked about it for a little while. I do think if it was the Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs etc it would get a little more play but that fact that it is Milwaukee and the fact that the team we are beating up on is Pitt nationally it probably is not much of a story. It is still pretty amazing to me though.
  2. I agree completely on the Wooten call up. 11 innings. 18 K's to 3BB. 1 ER on the year. Let's see what he can do at a higher level. From what I remember he is not an over-powering guy but he seems to have great control.
  3. I do not know of Crew has a history of bashing Gamel but his previous post did not seem like that at all. He was just stating the fact that Mat's errors tend to come in bunches like at the beginning of the season. He improved last year so I am hoping he improves this year again, but the truth is still that he makes errors in bunches, which actually is encouraging in some ways to me because it seems more mental than anything else. If he can just get out of his own head he could be a decent (and that is all he would need to be with his bat) 3B.
  4. Was the plan for Rogers only to pitch one tonight? They are being extremely cautious with him, which I am a fan of at this point
  5. The Cubs are a struggling team right now. Their relief pitching has been bad. Gregg cannot pitch without giving up a run, Marmol has more walks than k's and than innings pitched. Harden is striking people out like crazy but he is walking a lot of guys. Dempster looks like who we thought he would have been last year. Their bats have been okay. However, it seem like they will turn it around just because they do have talent. But that rotation would scare me with Harden and Dempster underachieving and Big Z being so streaky. Right now their best starter is Lilly and then Marshall and their bullpen has no one pitching well. All that said they are still at .500 so they will be there at the end
  6. I am pretty sure Carlos V. was a part of a no-hitter. There were others involved if I remember correctly
  7. Nashville is cruising right now. Up 7-0 and Tim Dillard had a very nice start. 16 hits as a team for Nashville too.
  8. 10 K's is a ton for Anundsen isn't it? He really is not a huge strikeout guy. I wish I would have checked this sooner to listen in. Congrats to Evan.
  9. Well if it keeps up we may be talking about how he is one of the best runners up because Pujols is just plain sick.
  10. A win tomorrow and a Cubs lost and we are a head of them in the standings.
  11. Wow, you get excited after scoring the go ahead run then you almost feel worse than before when you put nothing else across after having base-loaded and no outs. Lets go bullpen close this one down.
  12. I am not feeling good about the end of this game. I am glad lee is out of the game though
  13. I forgot about that scene. Andy is great and I probably laughed harder at that than any other part of the show.
  14. I thought Charles would no longer do Michael's job but would have Jan's old job. I could be mistaken but I thought Wallace said that Charles was too valuable to let go. Totally agree the turntables line. That was classic
  15. The last three episodes feel like the "old Office" to me. I was disappointed with most of this season and the end of season 4, but lately I have enjoyed it a lot. I think they have made Michael's character a little more believable as a great salesman with some business skills, while still allowing to do completely idiotic things. I am not of fan of Charles though, I hope his character is done soon. I just do not think he brings much to the show. My hope is they fire him in order to make up for the added payroll for bringing Pam and Ryan back.
  16. I agree with Tbadder that there is no reason to rush Mat up until his defense improves. Hall is hitting well enough and is playing very good defense right now at 3rd. I always struggled with Hall's defense because he would make the spectacular play but botch the easy ones but so far he playing very well. Gamel will not be hurt by staying down in the minors and getting consistent work on his defense.
  17. Is Patrick Schuster much of a prospect for this upcoming draft? I know little to nothing about the baseball draft but this kid just threw 4 straight no-hitters (one was a five inning game) striking out 60 in that span. It says he throws in the 90's and is committed to Florida after this year but has not ruled out going pro.
  18. Matt Gamel hits another home run and walks twice in the Sounds 4-2 win. He did not have an error today either which is nice. Chris Smith is 27 so old to be in AAA but he has had a nice start out of the bullpen. 13 K's and no walks in 9 innings.
  19. Ahh. That is disappointing because you would have to assume if he does make 30 solid starts he would believe he could get more than a one year deal
  20. Gamel with another home run and another error (throwing). Gillispie in A+ is unfair to the pitchers there. Nice to see Wooten with a 3 K save today. I wonder how long he will be in A+ before he gets bumped up.
  21. If he makes 30 starts and pitches close to what he is now 6.5 million would be a bargain. It would be nice to go into next year with some solid answers in the pitching department. Obviously, he has only had a couple starts but considering he had such little time pitching this spring I am impressed.
  22. Garrison and Inman have done nothing since being traded to make us think that trade was not at least a wash for us. I am not sure who we got with the Linebrink picks but it was either Ordorizzi or Fredrickson and Lintz or Dykstra right? Seems like good replacement of the other guys. For a 1/2 a year of Lee we solidified our closer spot of a while and got draft picks who turned out to be the other two of the four mentioned above. Good trade again. It was the Nelson Cruz part that is a bummer now but really he would not play over Hart or Braun, so all we would have done is traded him for more value. CC was an amazing trade. The excitement, the post-season, etc were all things needed for this team. Brantley was an okay guy to see go since he wont probably stick at CF and he does not hit enough for a corner guy. LaPorta would have been great to have replace Prince but someone had to go. Bryson was sad to see go as well but he went down with an arm injury. Add on that two high draft picks that trade will turn out well. Wasn't Balfour out of options while McClung still had one at the time of the trade. Balfour was struggling in the bullpen for the Brewers on a team that was in the playoff hunt at the time. He was not going to be able to stay in the bullpen but the Brewers could not send him back down without him getting claimed by a team who could afford to stash him in the their bullpen. McClung was able to spend some time in the minors and that is the reason he was traded for and the reason his still with the Brewers today. The Davis deal was not good. That is the only one I agree with.
  23. I just saw this report this morning. Looks like Bradley was ejected during the St. Louis game and the umpire is claiming that Bradley made contact with him during Bradley's ejection in the game. The contact does not seem to be that bad but the umpire is going to inform the commissioners office about. If they do deem contact was made that will be a suspension for Bradley. If so, that was quicker than I thought it would happen. A suspension may not be the worst thing since he has a bad groin and that will give him a chance to rest it without having to go on the DL.
  24. Clayton Kershaw has struck out 13 guys over 7 innings. He gave up just one run on one hit with just one walk.
  25. Gamel had an OPS of .923 last year and a career OPS of .865 in his career. It is not about just hitting home runs which he seems to project as a 20+ home run guy who hits a lot of doubles. His career OPS would put him as a middle of the road 1B and his last year's OPS would put him above Fielder and Howard. Now obviously that was in the minors but he projects to SLUG fairly well.
