  1. In my mind a top 15 prospect should have the tools to be a star and production to back up those beliefs. There are not enough slam dunk prospects that are future stars. Gallo has incredible power, great on base skills, is young, and can play the field. Seems like the kind of guy who us usually in the 15 to 30 range.
  2. Why are people so down on Sheffield? I dont follow other teams prospects but he was a high deaft pick who has produced well, is young, and strikes out a guy per inning?
  3. If Sheffield or McKenzie is in the deal it seems fair to me. If not it seemsike but what do i know. Mejia and Sheffield are both top 100 type prospects for those who like rankings and Chang has really solid upside and could be a future 3b for the team. Switch McKenzie with Sheffield and you get a high upside young pitcher that everyone craves. It seems like Sheffield projects more as a number 3 where if things fell right with McKenzie he could but a top of the rotation type. All i know is i hope one of those guys is coming
  4. Seriously can you tell and not certain people ruin it for us
  5. All i care about is if highheat's contact knows the prospects the indians are sending so i can quit hitting refresh all the time
  6. Werent some of these same guys saying the Brewers werent going to get much for Gomez or that they might just hold on to him right before they seemed land two deals
  7. Which could just as well be Chris davis (or better) who has struck out that much but had a couple years where he was a top 10 hitter in baseball. I grt he has one big issue but what prospect doesnt? He can play the field and has the best power in all of minor league baseball. If we can get him plus some arms with upside sign me up
  8. Gallo was a top 10 proapect by almost every publication to start the year. He is still top 15 and many are sayung he is Branyan, Carter, Mark Reynolds or Khris Davis? . Seems like this board vastly umderrates Gallo or this boards knows a lot more than scouts.
  9. Do you realize there are other stats than home runs? Davis is awful in the of. He struggles to get on base. He struggles to hit for average. He has great power but that is it
  10. Yes top 100 lists can be overrated. There isnt usually a huge difference between prospect 75 and 150. However since almost everyone here knows very little about other team's prospect and has done almost nothing to scout these players top 100 lists give at least some context for who is being talked about. It is similar to college recruiting or the NFL draft even. Fans are not scouts but instead of just assuming the team always got the player they wanted or should have lists give fodder for debate and some insight into players we dont regularly see
  11. Rather than sorting through all the old messages could someone post what could be realistic offers from the indians for Lucroy or Lucroy and Smith? Looks like they have 5 or so top 100 prospects. Who could we get there?
  12. Mlb trade rumors with a lucroy update "An unusually high number of scouts (18) recently took in a Class-A Rookie League Game for the Rangers, leading FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal to wonder if a trade is on the way. Specifically, the Rangers and Brewers could match up in a deal for catcher Jonathan Lucroy, Rosenthal suggests, with a scout informing him that Milwaukee has been observing Texas’ system. Brewers general manager David Stearns has not been averse to acquiring teenage prospects in the past, writes Rosenthal, who lists 17-year-old outfielder Leody Taveras and 18-year-old shortstop Anderson Tejada as a couple of the Rangers’ top Arizona League players. The Rangers have drawn connections since the offseason to Lucroy, an All-Star backstop who’s signed for cheap through next season." http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/quick-pits-groome-red-sox-lucroy-chapman.html
  13. I was listening to it on the radio and they made is seem like Wally chose to focus on TnF. I have none of the details so I have no idea what is what, but that's what the radio said this morning. Not a lot to support that theory. Mama Ellenson apparently tweeted "Smoke and Mirrors" and the whole Ellenson family quit following Wojo on Twitter. I am not a Twitter guy but that along with other insiders who said Wally was told there wasnt a spot for him makes it seem like this was a cut.
  14. And Jean Segura is absolutely mashing for the Dbacks. Go figure. Segura will be really interesting to follow. His power is crazy right now. He had half a season like this in Milwaukee, however reports are that he changed his stance and swing. Oddly he changed it on his own. The Diamondbacks had nothing to do with it. The one red flag for Segura is that he still isnt walking. Just two so far this year but other than that he is on fire
  15. I think it would be much better stated that they dont do as much good as they could. More harm than good is hard to prove. The detractors seem to swing to as negative of a view as possible. Sure if they "rescue" so women only to drop them off just down the street that would be bad. But knowing a few of these organizations that is most definitely not what they do. Most them have schools and safe houses for the women where they are able to receive counseling and learn a trade/get schooling. IJM who is mentioned somewhat disparagingly here does so much wot work with local governments and judicial systems to increase enforcement and the better the judicial process. I am sticking with the idea that Boyer is a stand up guy. He doesnt seem like he was doing this for notoriety and if my daughter ever got trafficked I would want people out there trying to free her from it.
  16. A story came out yesterday about Adam Laroche and his retirement. In the piece it talks about how he and Blaine Boyer spent part of the off season in Southeast Asia helping rescue young girls from sex-trafficking. Pretty cool to see professional athletes not just giving money but being a part of the work. http://m.startribune.com/ex-twin-blaine-boyer-went-undercover-in-asia-to-help-sex-slaves/375605091/
  17. I get that but those bad losses really are not that bad. 3 of them are to Marquette, Georgetown and Northwestern. Those teams are 96, 76, and 84 in Kenpom. It is just that in rpi they are 105 113 and 122. Rpi is the same ranking that wouldn't consider Penn state a bad loss bc they are in 96 or something. Wisconsin has two bad losses according to kenpom and most observers. Palm has for some reason took a hard line stance on the badgers. If those 3 teams win a couple down the stretch the badgers could all sudden only have 2 bad losses for Palm so then does he need to bump them up? He just is too rpi dependent. Edit - fondy beat me to it
  18. The Badgers are peaking at the right time and will likely be a 7 seed or better if they can close well. There are very teams that are playing near the level of the Badgers right now. That said they are not an elite team yet. At the same time there are very few elite teams this year. People can say that Iowa and Maryland dont look good right now but what teams really do? This is one of the weakest year's I have seen in college basketball. Last year's Badger team would be the favorite to win the title this year and by a fair margin. I am going to enjoy the ride with this team but it is hard not to look ahead a little to next year's team. A team that losses absolutely nothing and adds Pritzl and Van Vliet.
  19. Nova played two ranked teams in the Non conference and lost to both by double digits - Oklahoma and Virginia. I know the Big East rates well in the computer rankings but it just feels like a conference that is going to struggle to get teams to the second week of games in the NCAA tourney. Teams like Providence, Butler, Creighton seem like teams destined to be out in the first our second round. Xavier isnt incredibly impressive either. Villanova has not been a good tourney team recently either. Hasnt been out of the first weekend the last 6 years and they were a 1 seed once and a 2 seed twice. As a Badger fan if the Badgers make their way to the 8-9 line Nova is the 1 seed I would love to be with.
  20. Tanking - Gutting your team and losing on purpose to get better draft picks or make a run for free agents the next off season. Rebuilding - Realizing your window has past and restocking your farm system to win in the next couple years. Rebuilding recognizes your team couldnt win long term and changing your strategy to get younger and create a new window. Stupidity - Continuing to sign aging middle of the road players in order to finish close to .500. You are not going to win the World Series but you keep holding out hope of some miracle playoff run. This was the Milwaukee Bucks plan for years. Look where it go them.
  21. I just took a stab at it! I started at last year's trade deadline though and included ages and MLB Pipeline prospect rankings for MLB, position, and with the Brewers. http://i.imgur.com/vVuBFWB.gif Well done. What is crazy to think is what this will look like after Lucroy and Smith are inevitably traded.
  22. Blow up in his face? You just cannot say anything good about a move Stearns makes can you...what do you feel would be better. Competing for a 81-81 record this year? 81-81 would be stellar for the roster that Stearns inherited. Some fans wont have the stomach for a rebuild but so far Stearns is doing a great job. Davis is the exact guy you trade. He is already 28 and is arby eligible starting next year. He is limited to DH unless you want to take a huge hit defensively. And at the same time he is a nice pieve to trade for if you are Oakland because he will hit and hit fairly well.
  23. Kodi Medeiros is underrated by Brewers fans and I find that pretty surprising. You would think people would get excited about a guy giving up no homeruns and striking out over a batter an inning in his first real taste of pro ball. Not to mention he was 19 playing in A ball and is left handed. Heck he also was really solid in not giving up many hits. His walk rate is a bit high, but nothing I would be overly concerned about. There are a lot of players that struggle with control issues when they first get into pro ball. I would be a bit surprised if he doesn't push himself onto some Top 100 lists before 2017. If he ends up in A+ he should put up some really nice stats. I honestly think part of the reason some underrate Kodi is he wasnt the guy many wanted the Brewers to pick at that spot. Right or wrong that will taint people's view of him until he proves them wrong. His lack of control will feed the idea that he was the wrong pick. I dont know near enough about the draft to know who the Brewers should pick so I stay cautiously optimistic on Kodi.
  24. I am even more intrigued to where this system is ranked in the future. Add another draft with a very high pick, the eventual trade of Lucroy (and maybe even Braun) and I would not be surprised to see this system ranked top 5 at this time next year. If Philips and Arcia stay in the minors all year and produce we could be looking at a very special system as other players hopefully emerge. I dont follow enough to know where the Brewer's system should be ranked but looking at it compared to the last few years it sure seems like it should be in the 10 -20 range
