  1. Sadly (at least from my perspective) the Badgers are just not a good team this year. Losing Gasser hurt a ton but they look so bad I cant blame it all on that injury. Evans looks like the sophomore version of Ryan Evans which is a really bad thing. He takes poor shots, cant shoot free throws and cant hold onto the ball. Brust is great against mid-majors but against athletic teams he is not the answer. The defense is soft on the perimeter without Gasser. No way Blue starts out like he did with Josh out there. Marquette is a tournament team but there isnt much there that screams really good team either. My initial prediction is the Badgers dont make the tourney, which is painful to say, and Marquette is one and done.
  2. Apparently the Brewers are in on Dempster. He turned down a 2 year 25 million dollar deal from the Red Sox so I am afraid what we would have to offer to get him. Sounds like it is the Red Sox, Cubs, and Brewers. http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/_/id/8725821/ryan-dempster-rejects-two-year-25m-offer-boston-red-sox-source-says
  3. Even if he isnt I am not sure what the equivalent of this trade from the Brewers perspective would be - Fiers and Nelson for Revere. Worley is better than Fiers but we dont really have anyone in that mold. Even Fiers and Nelson would be way too much in my mind for Revere
  4. Great trade for Minnesota as Revere is highly overrated as a player. No power whatsoever and doesnt walk much. He is really fast but to get a starting pitcher and another pitcher with high upside is really a good deal. Just odd they also traded Span
  5. i think if nova, georgetown, marquette, st johns, and providence would leave to form a league, the money networks are paying to show big east basketball could easily be transfered to this new league since the big east would essesntially be conference usa 2.0. i don't think money would be the problem and this is the way to go based on how todays collegiate athletics. From what I could find online Big East schools are getting 4 million right now in their tv contract and the Conference USA schools are getting around 1 million. That is a huge difference. Losing the football schools like Cuse, Pitt, WVU, Louisville, UConn, Rutgers, etc will cost each school a lot. http://www.sbnation.com/ncaa-football/2012/8/6/3223039/new-big-east-tv-contract-money http://marshallthunderingblog.blogspot.com/2012/02/c-usamwc-merger-tv-revenue.html
  6. There is no way Marquette and DePaul get into the Big 10. The Big Ten is looking at markets it doesnt and it already has Milwaukee with the Badgers and Chicago with Northwestern and Illinois. They are looking at teams like UNC, Virginia, and Georgia Tech. Marquette's best bet is a basketball only league. The problem with that is TV revenue. It would be a huge step down however like you said it provides long term protection
  7. No one other than Posey should be Braun. None of the those other 3 should beat him
  8. He had 60 walks this year and his strikeouts were high but nothing crazy. His OBP was .70 higher than his BA. I guess I didnt see many of his games so I am not sure if his approach was that terrible
  9. Here played in all but 13 games which was 8th for all of 3B in baseball. He may have not have been perfectly healthy but he played more games that your average MLB starter so I dont think I would say he didnt have a healthy season. What is a healthy season? Playing every game. Over the course of 162 games - I would assume missing 10-15 games is pretty normal which is right where Ramirez was at and he put up the 3rd best offensive numbers for any 3B.
  10. I like the Rangers and have never had an issue with their fan base, but raining down boos on (and yelling obscenities at) Josh Hamilton is ridiculous. He played extremely hard for that team and I understand they were disappointed in the lost but singling him out seems strange. It was never likely that he would be back in Texas but I would assume that would cement it. He isnt worth the money he is going to get but as a Ranger he put up great numbers. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/josh-hamilton-s-likely-farewell-to-rangers-ends-with-trail-of-boos.html
  11. Brewers and Cubs both get out of jams. Cubs did give up a run but the Cards had base-loaded only one out with one in already and couldnt put anymore across
  12. It is amazing how much difference a month makes. A month ago if the Brewers had a one run lead late in a game I just assumed they were going to lose. Right now if the Brewers are down one late in the game I assume they are going to win. The Brewers have had some good offenses the past few years but I have never seen one perform like this. 1-8 I dont think we have ever had a group of hitters this hot. Here are OPS of the standard lineup in September. 1. Aoki - 1.034 2. Weeks - .943 3 Braun - .973 4. Ramirez - .954 5. Hart - 1.002 6. Lucroy - .695 7. Gomez - .641 8. Segura - .946 Other guys who have played Ishikawa - .698 Morgan - .718 Schafer - .956 Maldanado .633 Bianchi - .585 Including the pitchers spot we have an .828 OPS in September. That is just insane. At the same time we have the 5th best ERA in NL at just 3.42.
  13. You cannot punish Buster for his teammate's PED use. Buster has been incredible for a catcher. Now I think Braun would win if it wasnt for two stupid things writers will look at - the overturned test and the Brewers potentially not making the playoffs. Poor reasons but typical
  14. Liriano is a definite no in my book. He is an expensive Manny Parra in a lot of ways. Stuff is there - but not near what it was - and when guys get on base everything snowballs
  15. Segura doubles his extra base hit count last night! He has been ridiculously hot in September - posting an OPS of .938
  16. I wonder how much more money the Brewers have made with this late season run through attendance, sales of food, drink, and merch, etc? This run has had to net to the Crew some nice money compared to being 10 plus games out.
  17. The Brewers SS are 13 out of 16 NL teams in OPS. They have a total of 61 RBIs but 15 of those were Gonzalez. So those guys may have combined for 60 but only 46 when playing SS. Losing Gonzalez hurt quite a bit
  18. This offense has been incredible really. Here is where they rank in the NL Runs - 1 Home Runs - 1 SB - 1 while being in the bottom half of CS BA - 5 OBP - 3 Slug - 1 OPS - 2 - behind the Rockies by .001 We lead by almost 30 in HPB For as many runners as we put on base we are in the bottom of half of GDP. Pretty crazy to think where the offense could be if Izturis hadnt had to play and if Weeks would have hit even remotely like himself the first part of the year. This offense lost a lot of pop at SS when Gonzalez went down and yet they have put really good numbers
  19. Braun may have put to rest two questions in some people's mind - Did he use PEDs and is "protection" in the batting order a real thing
  20. Pirates now down 4. As long as that holds we have now jumped them in the Wild Card standings.
  21. This is so fun. I thought I would be score board watching in September to see how high of pick the Brewers were going to get!
  22. Astros take the lead over the Phillies Pirates lead down to 1 over Chicago
  23. Braun is ridiculous. I wish baseball showed how people voted in MVP voting.
  24. Very efficient start so far from Peralta. He has had two very nice starts in a row. Like seeing him keep his walks down
  25. Braun's offensively stat line is better but Posey isnt far off and he is a catcher. He is OPS is way better than any other catcher just like Braun is compared to other LF in the NL. Both are almost .90 points higher than other NL players at their position. That is impressive. If Matt Holliday gets any votes over Braun it is a joke
