  1. Is that supposed to be in blue? He still has two more innings to pitch. We are up 8. If it was a no-hitter sure, but not a complete game
  2. "Unless he was sticking up for the specimen collector I cant believe he would have anything against Braun." Quote from Mets tv guys. I thought that was funny
  3. I think he is going to be a very good player - who gets treated like a great player since he is in Chicago. His inability to take a walk will hurt him in my eyes. He has never had an OBP above .350 so it is hard for me to call him great. He looks like a 10 -15 HR guy max so he wont have a ridiculous Slugging % to overcome his OBP. He does still a lot of bases but he gets caught a lot too. In his career he has stolen 44 but been caught 22. He makes a fair amount of errors but I am not sure if that is because he is able to get to a lot of balls because of his range.
  4. Braun's HR%, BB%, and XBH% are all at career highs. His K% is the second highest. His BABIP is actually the second worst of his career. Braun is a really good hitter and if pitchers try to beat him somewhere he seems to learn. I love that he is putting up big numbers after the off-season drama. Shows his mental-toughness as well
  5. I like George and doubt we trade him since he is one of a few guys who are hitting right now, but with Ramos out for the year in Washington I wonder if they would look for a veteran catcher?
  6. Former Brewer SS's are doing pretty well for the Orioles lately
  7. Except Hart just started yesterday. He sucked for the last three weeks. True. I didnt realize how bad he had started. Man our lineup is underperforming all over the place Maysonet!! That is a great memory for him!
  8. Braun, Hart and whomever is playing catcher seem to be the guys who can hit right now. So far that is enough today
  9. It sounds like all the teams do that now
  10. Yeah from what I read it sounds like those numbers for the Twins are paid tickets not actual attendance. With a 3rd year stadium and it still being early in the season those numbers would make sense. The actual attendance numbers have to be really low
  11. Those numbers seem pretty off base from what I have heard. You can pay 15 bucks and get seat near the infield right now. My uncle told me scalpers actually left tickets on a table for people just to take because no one was buying. Maybe that many people are showing up right now but as someone living in Minnesota it sure doesnt sound like many people are going to the games right now
  12. I dont think pitching Braun different has had much of an effect. He is 5th in OPS in all of baseball. The guy is just a terrific hitter. I wish he could pick up a couple more walks but overall he is simply a great hitter. He seemed to start slow this year and is still putting up MVP type numbers (although Kemp is running away with that right now)
  13. That team is horrible. I debated with someone on this board last year that I thought the Twins were headed for a serious decline (one of the few takes I have ever gotten right). They dont have a lot of talent in the majors and their minor league system is not good. Just take a look at their current roster and I dont see how people think they should win games Pitching - Their number 1 is Pavano. He would be the 4 or 5 on the Brewers. Their numbers 2-5 wouldn't pitch on most teams barring injuries. Marquis is just an innings-eater. Blackburn has never had an ERA under 4 and the last three years has been pretty brutal. Hendricks should be in AAA. Liriano is a mess. Their bullpen isnt good either. Capps has to be one of the worst closers in the game and the rest of the guys look like Veras types at best. Perkins is decent but even his numbers last year look like an aberration. Hitting - Willingham has been really good for them. No one expected Morneau to stay healthy this year and he is on the DL. Mauer had one year of power and not is looking like a 20 plus million dollar slap hitter (a good slap hitter but not an MVP). Span is solid. Valencia is not very good and no one likes him. Parmalee should be in AAA. The middle infield is ok. Doumit is ok. So in wrap up. Horrible pitching plus an okay at best lineup. I wonder why this team is 8-22. Their run differential through 30 games is -63. The next highest is -30. They are a full run a game worse than any other team!
  14. Question. What Brett Lawrie is closer to the one we will see over his career. Both small samples but here are his numbers from his initial call-up and so far this year Last year - 150 AB. .293 BA, .373 OBP, .580 Slug, .953 OPS. 9 HR, 16 BB, 7 SB This year - 120 AB. .275 BA, .323 OBP, .400 Slug, .723 OPS. 3 HR, 7 BB, 3 SB This year he has been solid but not spectacular as a hitter. His fielding stats have dropped a little this year as well. Know both sample sizes are small and his numbers are not bad this year, but I am wondering where people think he is more likely to wind up as a pro. He hovered a little below an .800 OPS his first couple years in the minors but his power numbers exploded last year. Most thought he was just becoming the power bat he was bound to be since he was so young. Now his power has dropped again. He is still very young - just 22, but i just wanted to get people's thoughts I always saw him as more of a .800 - .900 OPS kind of guy which is really good but more Corey Hart than Ryan Braun. I still think that is where he ends up.
  15. Is Heckathorn getting snubbed as we talk about all the prospects this year? His numbers are really good this year. His overall numbers seem even better than his ERA. 37 K to 7 BB.
  16. Someone in Brevard should get bumped but it will probably happen at the break. Nelson is the number 1 candidate but Jungman and Bradley (and Burgos) are not far behind. Thornburg has allowed more than 1 earned run once this season. That is crazy. If scouts hadnt pegged him as a reliever right away he would be getting even more publicity right now. It seems like scouts are slow to break from initial assumptions. Thornburg has been easily more impressive than former Brewer farmhand Jake Odorizzi in AA but scouts seems ready to praise Odorizzi after every start while Thornburg has to continue to prove himself over and over. Dont get me wrong I would love to have Odorizzi but Tyler has been far more impressive and scouts seem very slow to get on the bandwagon. This year has been so much fun following the minor league pitching. The three at Brevard have not disappointed at all. Thornburg has been even better than hoped. Peralta had one bad start that is keeping people from seeing how good he has really been - 29 IP, 26 K, 18 H!, and good ground ball numbers. He just needs to cut back the walks. Add in Gagnon at Wisconsin it has been a great start. The only disappointments I can see as of right now are Fiers, and then the two injured prospects - Scarpetta and Bucci. Have there been updates on those two?
  17. Nelson wasn't really sharp tonight (10 baserunners in 5 2/3) but he did get all his outs via groundball or strike out. He only gave up one run and struck out 8. I have high standards for the guy when this night is somewhat underwhelming Thornburg is just dominant right now. 7 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 0 BB, and 7 K. He has only one start when he has given up more than 1 ER!
  18. Jungmann with his best night as a pro. Peralta not so much
  19. Rough at bat there for Corey. Needed at least a fly ball
  20. Do you think they look at how KRod has been pitching and think "Wow that guy is going to fix our bullpen." I cringe every time KRod comes into the game
  21. Not a good week for Wisconsin schools in terms of treating players well. i didnt the like the ACC restrictions on Uthoff, but at least in the end Wisconsin did the right thing. From Bo's interviews even before the Appeal meeting this seemed like the plan all along. They just wanted him to have to explain why he was doing it since he never did that. Dont know if that was the best approach though Now Marquette has an incoming freshman, Durley, who signed a letter of intent who is no longer coming. The university will never say this but this looks completely like a kid getting run off. He struggled his senior year but still had an offer and signed on signing day. Marquette then started to recruit Trent Lockett who is transferring even though they dont have any open spots. Here is a timeline April 17 - Aaron Durley tweet "...I'm going to Marquette...": https://twitter.com/#!/ADurley...362034145398785 April 18 & 19 - Trent Lockett visits Marquette April 20 - Aaron Durley released from LOI I doubt there will be the uproar to this because it happened over the weekend but this is a bad way to treat a student athlete. Once the kids signs he should be on the team unless his academics or personal conduct get him kicked off.
  22. Interested to see if it will Peralta or Estrada for the start
