    I am curbing my enthusiasm a little bit. Pulisic is a very good player, but the way he split the two defenders led me to one of two thoughts: Where has his been in the second half of AC Milan Is the Paraguay defense like a deer in headlights? It seems like many were defecating their drawers because Pulisic wasn't carrying the team. He doesn't have to!!!!! The US does so much better when they play as a team. Some of my favorite goals over the past few years are the 2-3 passes in tight quarters at the top of the 18-yard-box followed by a quick short lead pass for an easy goal. Australia looked tough on the counter. That is going to be a really good game.

    I want to preface this comment with the following: Sal Frelick is my favorite player on the team. I truly believe he sacrifices his body on defense. He is short in stature and I have a soft spot in my heart for the little guys. Also when he was coming up, many fans were calling for him to be called up because he was doing so well in the minors. He is also a great guy. Unfortunately, he has not lived up to expectations. Is that because he is limited due to his stature? Is it because too many people have been in his ear this year about, I dunno, hitting more homers? I'm not sure. His swing has certainly changed this year. I don't recall him swinging an going to a knee as much he has this year. That swing shows how much he is (almost literally) swinging out of his shoes. All I know is the numbers don't lie. My thought is that when Lockridge comes back, Perkins gets sent down. Lockridge will be groomed to be the next right fielder, and Frelick will be moved to a bench role. Be careful when saying, "Bring up the next great guy from the minors." As Sal (and others) have proven, minor league success doesn't always translate to major league success.

    Is the plan to try to get into the bullpen and have Yelich and Turang pinch it? Is it a sneaker game for them?

    Hate is a strong word... I have had very unfavorable interactions with Cubs fans. I do understand that a handful (or a bus-full) of Cubs fans do not represent the entire fan base... but... My interactions with Cardinals fans have been positive. Even when I was sitting next to one who transplanted to Colorado and brought his son for the Brewers / Rockies game. We have been to games, etc. in Cincinnati when the Brewers were not even playing. Of course, I had to wear Brewers gear and yell "Brewers" during "root... root... root for the BREWERS" during the 7th inning stretch. I have never seen a game in Pittsburgh, but have had interactions with Pirates fans at Am Fam -- always positive. I would like to say that I have seen Brewers fans be complete jack wagons in other parks. Maybe it takes two to tango with the Cubs fans. Then again, I'll avoid them when I can. 😉

    5:15PM — Mrs. Samurai’s boss calls and asks if we want tickets for the game. Woot!!!!! Something missed in the Miz excitement: Joey O with two base hits at 105 and 108. What a great team to watch!!!!!

    We were at the game and my son-in-law actually “saw“ it pop. If you do some searching on YouTube, you will see similar videos. He described it like his elbow, went the wrong way.

    When he swings, especially from the left side, his hands just seem to be all over the place. It seems to be worse than others on the team.

    Good for them. Wait... D1 Baseball doesn't work in Wisconsin. At least that is what has been said over and over and over from the folks in Madison. I tried to walk on in '87 and didn't earn a spot. Too bad they dropped the program shortly thereafter.
