    I got back from walking the dogs halfway through the top of the first. Little did I realize the game was over at that point. I don’t mind when they interview players in the dugout, but I can absolutely not stand it when they have people mic’ed up on the field. Out of the four major sports, I would still put baseball at the top. I truly believe the players are trying to do well. Sure, the batters are basically, “see ball, hit ball.“. My order would be: 1. Baseball 2. Hockey 3. Basketball 1000. Football

    I'm miffed, too. This reminds me of how they looked against the Dodgers in the NLCS last year. Yes, the difference between the Dodgers and the Pirates is... well... there isn't a difference. LOL. The Dodgers are just the best. They worked hard to get this lead. I think there is some frustration in the clubhouse because of injuries, poor decisions, etc. The team needs a mental break. I'm don't agree with cashing it in this weekend (one of the games for sure, or two could have been a win, though). They had better come back next week and kick some back sides.

    Great work as always, Matt. Another thing I noticed (you might have said it differently) is the position of the top hand. In the pictures on the right, the top hand appears to be behind the bat better. That helps with staying on plane as you mentioned. I think it is something as subtle as "lining up the knocking knuckles" on the hands. That most likely helps within handling the high cheese, too. That, coupled with the long arm issue you identified, is making him a very good hitter.

    1 hit since July 1 does suck. So if that is the criteria, that works for me. Perhaps we just proved that we can make any type of argument if we look at the data a certain way. That has never happened before... 😄

    Bad at what? Since 6/1, he has a wRC+ of 103 and has an ops of .721. Earlier in the year, he was terrible, but he has come around lately.

    In basketball, promises may be made to a player and if the promise is not kept, the player's agent (agency) may take it personally. This might cause issues with future negotiations. How much does this exist in MLB? If it does, do you have any examples? Would the Gary Sheffield / Dave Parker issue be similar, or was that just Sheffield being upset with what happened to Parker?

    The fact that he hit it with an EV of 98 and 360 feet from the left side really had no bearing on it. Pull it a little more and it is out.
