  1. I was worried coming into the year about the number of HR's Marcum was going to give up.
  2. So, Rickie is going to have the same batting average as Gomez according to ZIPS? Yeah, about that...
  3. I'll go with 87 wins. I expect Yo to be the ace. Just got to hope the stars outshine our weaker spots. I do worry about bullpen however.
  4. I don't think Prince has any intention in staying unless he breaks the bank, and quite frankly, I have no interest in giving him $20 million a year for 5 years. I'd rather allocate that money to Greinke. I think it's Greinke or Prince, and I'll take Greinke. Now that we have pitching, I don't see any reason to load on offense again.
  5. Really happy about this. Didn't want to imagine what would have happened if we lost Prince AND Rickie in the same year. I've a pretty big Rickie fan, but like most of us, just wanted him to stay healthy to see what he could do.
  6. Yo's got to be a lock. I would love to see Axford get one with a sweet mustache. I also think a Cirillo one would be really cool.
  7. That's the kind of things I'm looking for. The media hasn't addressed that much from what I've seen.
  8. No, nobody is saying that, I'm just looking for reasons to discover the reasons we aren't approaching an extension. My main fear is that we deplete the system for 2 years of Greinke. That was my main concern in trading for him.
  9. Where is there no talk of an extension? Are we really going to wait to see how he pitches to give him an extension? Give him a two years extension (so 4 more years) and you can deal with the loss of prospects. Losing him after two years is what I'm afraid of.
  10. The only way I like this deal is if Greinke gets extended. I think it's too much to give up for 2 years of him... if we locked him up, I'd really like the deal. What does everyone think about a possible extension? Does it get done or is he walking in two years?
  11. Greinke is one player I wouldn't mind at all seeing the Brewers use the 'Fielder money' (if you will) to extend.I've said it a few other times, but Greinke has to be resigned. This is way too much to give up for two years of Greinke. If you can resign Greinke for say 4 years, great, but I want him to be extended immediately.
  12. Oh boy, giving up Odorizzi would really make me sour on this deal unless we can extend Greinke.
  13. Not sure if that should be in blue; but it is not really a fair statement. He's lost weight the last couple of years...I want to say he was at his largest when he used to flop around the bases in 2006 or so and he's definitely trimmed down since then (with some back and forth through the years). I guess one could say that when you are in arbitration, every year is a contract year; but still.Yeah, it was mostly tongue in cheek, but I'm sure the idea of a new contract has got him even more motivated. I think it has something to do with it, but last year he did seem like he lost weight too. It's really astounding to look at Prince in his rookie year to where he was physically 2 years ago or even last year.
  14. I think he lost some weight too. Oh, and guess who's in a contract year?!?
  15. I don't even want to think of the package that it would take to get Greinke without Lawrie being the centerpiece anymore.
  16. I would be furious with a 3-year deal, extremely mad about a 2-year deal, and upset but ok with a 1-year deal. Giving him 25 million for 2 years would be absurd.Well, you're not going to sign him for 1 year so throw that out the window.
  17. I'm at this point now where I really want to move him. I'm not saying we should take a horrific deal to trade him away, but if it's a fair offer, think long and hard about it. The 2 picks by letting him walk would be okay, but waiting for them might take us out of our next window so I'm not high on that option. Worst comes to worst however, you get crappy offers, and we go for it in 2011.
  18. Really glad to see us stick to 2 years. I'd be willing to go a little higher for those 2 years say 23-25 million, instead of 3 for 30.
  19. Sounds like he's being talked about in the Matt Garza possible trade. I don't want to see him traded. Period. No only is he a very good young player, but his replacement is a platoon of Gomez/Dickerson.
  20. This would be an awful deal for us. Why in the heck would we want Broxton? If we trade Prince, it should be for starting pitcher, not a bullpen guy.
  21. First off, I don't really like having to give up Lawrie. Secondly, I'm concerned about his age and TJ surgery although I've tried to take a step back and evaluate this deal a little. Realistically how many years does Marcum have left at a prime level if he's 29 or almost there? Not to mention he's 2 years removed from TJ. Oh, and his delivery scares the hell out of me already. There's no question though that Melvin is trying to improve the staff, I just see this as very risky.
  22. Is it just me or does this return seem meager? I know he was having issues with a contract extension, but this is all they could get?
