  1. Good draws for both Wisconsin teams. Temple is a good #5 and could be tough in the second round but overall I like Wisconsin's half of the bracket. I'm also pretty shocked Marquette got a #6, although Washington has been pretty hot so that could be tough.
  2. Trevon Hughes is by far the most polarizing player on a game to game basis for me. It's impossible to hate him after he's come up big late in games so many times, ie Va. Tech and FSU last year, at Northwestern this year. Then he has games like today where he doesn't realize he should attempt to run the offense occasionally, instead of driving and throwing up shots at the bottom of the backboard three different times. I don't really buy the injury excuse because he looked fine on his drives, his shot selection was just poor. The good news is it's just about impossible for everyone to play as poorly as they did for 35 minutes again all at the same time.
  3. West Virginia is the best team from the bottom of the bracket, but Pitt always seems to play really well in the Big East Tournament. I'd still bet on MU meeting WVU, if Marquette gets past Georgetown of course. Earlier on the bottom line of ESPN for "The Lead" it said: "Marquette stuns Villanova in Big East Quarterfinals." How stupid do you have to be to make that the headline?
  4. Marquette giving the game away pretty quickly after leading by 14 in the first half.
  5. I'd rather be in Syracuse's region than Kansas', but I'd much rather see Kentucky, or maybe even Duke, than 'Cuse. Four of 'Cuse's top 5 scorers are athletic wings/forwards that are 6'7"-6'9". I think we'd see Evans and Bruiser quite a bit if that happened, which obviously wouldn't be good for the offense. Then again if any team is hot from three they can beat their zone.
  6. I remember a few years ago (maybe '03 or so?) Gonzaga was something like 30-3 and got a 6 seed in the tournament, and lost in the first round anyway. Maybe it's irrelevant now but it shows they've been screwed in the past. After losing by 20+ points on national T.V., I don't see how anyone on the committee would feel they deserve a home game in the tournament. They should probably be a 7-8 seed.
  7. Bracketology was just updated today and it has UW as a 4 in Spokane. Of course Lunardi has Gonzaga as the 5 in Spokane too. It'll be a joke if Gonzaga gets home games for the first weekend. They've only beaten one team that's guaranteed to make it to the tournament, plus lost at 12-18 San Francisco.
  8. Joe Lunardi's recently updated bracketology is pretty favorable to both Wisconsin and Marquette. Wisconsin as a 5 playing Saint Mary's, who at best has beaten one tournament team, and that's if SDSU even makes it. He also has Marquette as a 7 which personally at this point I think seems a bit high considering the best team they beat has lost 4 of their last 5 games, but I'd certainly take it.
  9. Big win in overtime for Marquette tonight. Doesn't really bolster their resume but a loss would have sure hurt it.
  10. Did Nankivil get injured? I'm not sure why he didn't play at all the last part of the second half. Jarmusz looked awful defending Shurna. He was the reason Leuer was able to get that huge block at the end. If Shurna consistently blew by him, what's going to happen when they face a team with an athletic G/F in the tournament?
  11. UW won't get a #3 seed either. Mich St always seems to get bumped up a seed, and UW gets bumped down a seed or two. I also wouldn't be surprised if NC and/or UCONN slip into the tourney. I'm just afraid the committee will try to "help" Wisconsin again by placing them in Milwaukee but screwing them over on the seed. I'd rather have them be a #3 far away than a 5 or 6 in Milwaukee with an extremely tough second round opponent again. UNC probably has to win at least 5 of their last 6 games to feel good. Considering they still play @ Georgia Tech, @ Wake, and @ Duke, they have no chance.
  12. In Lunardi's latest Bracketology, he has Michigan State a 2 seed and Wisconsin a 3. I really can't think of anything that would justify giving MSU a better seed than Wisconsin. Wisconsin has six wins against teams projected to be in the field. MSU has three. Michigan State has probably been the 4th best team in the Big Ten over the past month.
  13. It's too bad Rob Wilson isn't six inches taller, he's the only player I see attempt to take it inside. Not just last night, but in other games too. There's a reason he shot more than half of the team's free throws last night. I really miss those days where Wisconsin would make more free throws than their opponents would attempt. For the 100th time, please get healed, Leuer.
  14. How would they do tie breakers for seeding if there was a four team tie? It'd be a huge difference if you get to play Michigan/Indiana in the quarterfinals as opposed to someone like Illinois in the 4/5 game. I'm guessing they would do head-to-head, but Wisconsin split with the other top 3 teams in the conference, and there could be other splits with Purdue/MSU and maybe Purdue/OSU.
  15. I don't know either. With Evan Turner they could honestly beat just about any team in the country on a given night. I don't know how I haven't really seen any NBA mock drafts where Turner goes #2. He's a taller version of Brandon Roy who rebounds more. Also, not only did the Big 10 win the B10/ACC challenge, 4 of the top 5 teams in the conference won against Duke, Clemson, Wake and Florida State; probably 4 of the best 6 teams in the ACC. Plus, Penn State won at Virginia, who is tied for first in the ACC. I guess by using that logic, Penn State would be the best team in the ACC?
  16. "I really think that if this team can play this well, a sweet 16 berth is not out of the question." If Leuer is healthy by the start of the tournament (or earlier) I'd be disappointed if they didn't reach the Sweet 16. I know all their outstanding wins have been at home this year, but the OSU game was the only road game where they didn't have a chance to win with only a couple minutes left.
  17. Even if Leuer misses the entire conference season, it's hard to imagine Wisconsin getting worse than 5th. After the top 5 (I'm including Minnesota in there and not Illinois, they're not very good) there just aren't really any teams that are that great. This three game stretch coming up will be pretty big in determining where Wisconsin is in the pecking order after MSU.
  18. Oh man, my parents pulled me out of school in 5th grade to go see that game.
  19. The more prevalent the Jim-Pam story arch gets, the less funny the show becomes. It's probably wishful thinking but I hope they don't focus on them too much this season. Either way it's probably my 2nd favorite show on network TV.
  20. Bill Schroeder has no idea how many syllables are in "particularly." Maybe it wouldn't be a problem if he didn't say it 6 times a game.
  21. People's play on words for athletes/teams they don't like, ie. 'Brent' Favre and the sCrUBS instead of Cubs. I know there are tons more but those two come to mind right away. It's really not that funny.
  22. Man, I have one full year left and I'm pretty bummed about that. I really don't feel old enough to soon be entering the "real world."
  23. I really hope Schroeder's strikeout was looking, it would make "Not sure where that one missed" that much funnier.
  24. I bet I watched Home Alone 30 times before I was even 10.
