  1. Webb is one inning away from a complete game to boost his record to 8-0. Nothing like being on pace for a 35-0 record or whatever it is.
  2. Bill Hall's career average is .261 in nearly 2,200 at bats. By your standards I guess he's having a "career career". As far as J.J. Hardy, I just hope he can reach double-digit home runs by the end of the year. He clearly isn't a guy that will regularly hit 25 a year, but to have a .287 SLG through 1/5 of the season is just pathetic. His range isn't all that spectacular, so really all he is bringing to the table right now is above-average arm strength.
  3. I don't think by "shake things up" people wanted both Fielder and Hart sitting. Then again at this point will it make that much of a difference? Unfortunately Hart will be the only right-hander off the bench, assuming Ned won't want to use Kendall. I can't wait to see both Counsell and Gwynn get at bat's tonight!
  4. Puzzling personnel plays: Trading Johan Santana and failing to re-sign Torii Hunter. Does the guy know anything about baseball? What a terribly written article.
  5. J.J. Hardy is slugging .287.
  6. Sadly, it's probably because of Kapler's and Kendall's super-hot starts. It'll probably dip below .700 tonight http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif.
  7. I"m pretty sure I'll be watching Scrubs and The Office tonight instead of the Brewers game. I can't stand another frustrating night where I think back, "Wow I just wasted these last 3 hours." I wouldn't mind if Villanueva copied his last start against the Marlins. Unfortunately for the Brewers offense, that means they'd have to score at least 3 runs if they want to win.
  8. I wouldn't mind seeing Hart getting moved up to leadoff and Weeks down to 5 or 6. But like others have said, will it even make a difference? Hart's really the only player you could say that is hitting pretty well. He did seem to be more patient in the leadoff spot last year than he does hitting 5th, maybe if he can get on and steal some bases it'll provide a spark? Gawd is this frustrating.
  9. I can't even believe how frustrated I am by May 7th. Unless they eventually trade for a good starting pitcher and someone kicks the offense in the butt, I see no conceivable way this team makes the playoffs. I can't even express how genuinely sorry I feel for the older fans (I'm 20 so I've only had to put up with the losing for the last 13 or so years).
  10. Man, the Padres must have a bad offense. The Brewers apparently lead them in every offensive category. I'm not really sure those pitching stats will improve unless the Crew eventually makes a trade for a pretty good SP. Having Bush-Villanueva-Parra all in the rotation at this point is pretty painful. Dave Bush won't be getting any better. Parra has some upside but hasn't proved he can pitch well for more than 4 or 5 innings, and Villanueva has been pretty much the same as Parra in that regard. I'm sure the offense will eventually improve (it has to, right?) but I can't see them making the playoffs unless their offense goes on a tear for the rest of the season or something.
  11. Volquez didn't have too bad of a game, either. And Paul Bako has as many home runs as Fielder. Wow.
  12. Bill: "The Marlins don't have the highest batting average in the league but they still find ways to win." Maybe because they're 2nd in the league in home runs? At least he hasn't said they rely on it too much.
  13. Well I guess I can drop out of college now.
  14. I can honestly say I've never heard of Burke Badenhop. As Bartholomew Hunt would say in Almost Heroes, "For the LOVE of all that is GOOD and DECENT, score runs off this guy!" (Except for the last part, he didn't say that)
  15. I'm not really a big fan of the hit and run. Even if I was, there's not many ideal situations you can envision running it with the way the Brewers lineup is. You want a guy at the plate who doesn't strike out a lot. The only regulars who don't K at least a decent amount are Kendall and Hardy. Kendall likely won't be batting with someone fast on base (unless TGJ pinch hits/runs or something), which I guess leaves Hardy. I wouldn't really mind if they did it once in a while with Hardy up and someone like Hart on base, because Hardy seems to ground to the shortstop pretty frequently and Hart's quick enough to take a base if Hardy swings and misses, but you always run the risk of lining/flying into a double play. I agree with your advice in general, though most of it is easier said than done. I would guess (hope) Braun realizes that he doesn't have the best plate discipline, but if he's been swinging away since his high school days or whatever it can't be that easy to change. I'm also sure Gagne doesn't try to throw strikes. I've always thought people who yell "Throw it over the plate!" were morons because it clearly won't help any.
  16. Joe Dillon has gap power and a decent amount of home runs in the minor leagues. Tony Gwynn Jr. has neither of those. Dillon is easily the better option in that situation, and like others have said, it's not even close.
  17. Isn't that the idea? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I'm usually lazy and I only shave about once a week, so I use the sideburn trimmer all over my face to trim it pretty short, then use an actual razor and it works pretty fine. I'm going to have to try the conditioner thing though, sounds pretty neat.
  18. I told myself I wouldn't watch this game cause of the terribly depressing weekend. Knowing I have no will power, I'll probably watch anyway. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif
  19. I'm not saying he hasn't made any good moves, but I'm curious as to what you believe they are? I don't think there's been any one game where Yost clearly cost the Brewers a win, but there's certainly some moves that are questionable, ie: Gagne 4th day in a row in Cincinnati, Gwynn coming up in big RBI situations in key points in the game, and probably some more. Again, I'm not saying he hasn't made any good moves, but I want to know what you think that he did that helped the Brewers win that the players could not otherwise do themselves.
  20. The Brewers played in the same park but the Astros hit more home runs this series, you have to give them some credit.
  21. 75% of Hunter Pence's home runs this season are against the Brewers. What does he weigh, 150 pounds? It's sick.
  22. I think I'm not going to watch any game of the Marlins series for my mental health. It's been gorgeous out all day but I've spent the last 4 1/2 hours inside, ugh.
  23. Berkman scares the hell out of me. Luckily he has to bat right handed here.
  24. There is absolutely no reason Tony Gwynn should be on the Brewers major league roster. He has zero power, and it's not like they need him as a defensive replacement in late innings because Kapler is at least servicable.
