  1. Yeah, that article that Nate82 posted the link to said he's on pace for 104 IP this year. In the last week Theriot's OPS has dropped .031 and Soto's .035, so hopefully that'll continue http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. I can't imagine they'd be able to throw nearly as hard as the major league pitchers do. I'm also not really sure if women would have the power to get any at bats in the majors either. I suppose maybe a kicker in the NFL would be the most likely, and I"m not really sure about hockey either.
  3. I'd say they'll have turned it around when they start to beat above .500 teams on the road. Their defense also needs to improve if they want to start playing better as a whole, too. However it's obviously very encouraging that the offense has picked it up over the last few days, but if they're going to make the playoffs they'll have to starting hitting home runs like they did last year.
  4. Well, I believe this is the third time this year the Brewers have won the first two games of a three game road series, yet are going for that first elusive road sweep in however many years. At lease Gorzelanny is lefty and is doing pretty poorly, hopefully Bush can give 5/6 solid innings and the offense continues to do well, maybe there's a shot!
  5. I don't know if this is really the right place for this because it doesn't really warrant its own thread, but did anyone else see the Padres/Cardinals highlights? Pujols is batting and hits a line drive that ricochets off Chris Young's face. Fortunately it only hit him in the nose, but it was bleeding profusely and he was on the ground for several minutes and Pujols obviously looked quite concerned. He got to first on the single, and a couple batters later he's running home and slides, only his foot gets caught with Josh Bard's ankle and it looked pretty nasty, and Bard had to leave the game. Albert sounded very shooken up during the interview and basically said he couldn't even concentrate afterwards, I can't even imagine how awful he feels, talk about terrible luck.
  6. If the double steal works, they'd probably pitch around Fielder to set up for the DP for Hart, or at least a force at every base.
  7. Sheets seems a bit fortunate to have only given up one run so far, they have a ton of pretty deep fly balls.
  8. They have some very hard hits off Sheets.
  9. Brian Anderson: "Last night Pirates saw an average of 10 pitches per at bat." He threw 116 pitches while facing 21 batters. I don't know what's more embarassing, his pronunciation of OPS or his terrible on-the-fly math skills.
  10. I love well-hit balls into the outfield directly at someone.
  11. It would be nice if Branyan was up to get the start instead of Counsell... That was a low pitch, but of course Bill thinks it's a strike. Wow Sheets, four hits this year!
  12. Woah, woah, this coming from the guy who says you should never really assume a sweep, no matter how good or bad the teams are? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif (I know that's not what you're saying http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif)
  13. Whether or not Prince is slumping, it's a bad call. It's not like some chump was on deck either, it was Corey Hart.
  14. I guess I didn't really specify. Obviously compared to other starting SS he's pretty terrible, but as a bench player he's probably "average". I mean he's pretty much Craig Counsell from the right side, in terms of hitting.
  15. I don't know if you're the only one, but I wouldn't really want him. He's 6'9 so NBA power forwards will not only be more athletic than him, but also taller. He's also not quick enough to defend many of the small forwards. I know he has very solid post moves as well as being an excellent passer for a big guy, but I fear he's not quick/athletic enough to do very well against NBA forwards to warrant him going that high.
  16. Pirates: For the record the Cubs record in non Pittsburgh Pirates games is 20-17 Also for the record the Pirates record in non Chicago Cubs games is 20-16 so maybe they're not as bad as everybody thinks. My bad, the other day on Sportscenter they said "And it's the Pirates first win against the Cubs in 11 games this year," I guess I should've known to look it up first. Although the Cubs are in Pittsburgh again this weekend, what the heck? Players: Theriot - has only 1 FULL season under his belt in which he collapsed in September so to say he is over his head MAY be a stretch at this point in the season. He also has 2,000+ Minor League ABS in which he has OPSed .689. I'd say the fact that he's 28 and only has about 1 1/3 season's worth of Major League AB's shows that he's probably in over his head at this point. I'm not saying he's terrible or he shouldn't be in the majors, but no way should he be expected to hit this well the rest of the season. Soto - No track record Like others have mentioned, his BABIP is hovering near .400 after it was nearly .500 last year. I expect him to be one of the top hitting catchers for the next few years, but I'd be shocked if he continues to slug well over .600. Another thing is MLB pitchers simply have rarely faced him, if at all. Ryan Braun slugged over 1.000 against lefties last year, there was obviously no way that was going to continue for the rest of his career because pitchers begin to figure out hitters the more they face them.
  17. I loved watching Alexander at West Virginia, but I'm not so sure it would be warranted taking him 8th, or even during the lottery for that matter. If they trade down it would be nice to get him, but if they stay at 8 I'd like to see them draft Westbrook.
  18. There have been 25 instances where a pitcher struck out 18+ in a game, compared to well over 100 no-hitters, so Rluz was definitely right.
  19. I hate when they show flashback highlights, because there's a 50/50 chance they're going to miss the current play. It happened today where when they came back, it showed the Pirates SS throwing out Hardy on a grounder.
  20. The only time I've seen/heard anything by this band is when they were on an episode of Scrubs (I want to say season 3?). To me it seemed like 14 people in a cult looking extremely happy while singing. I would never make a point to go see them, but if I happen to be there that day, which I think I might be, I'll at least check them out, if anything I'm sure they're very interesting live http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.
  21. I don't see how Gordon would be an improvement over Redd. I saw way too many box scores like 6-21 FG, 2-11 3P FG, 8 TO from him. Definitely dont want Mayo either, there's no way that guy doesn't get in any sort of legal trouble.
  22. Hardy and Hall were each on base three times as well, that sure helps. People can no longer say the Brewers have three starters batting under .200, there's now zero http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. I'd be thrilled if McClung can pitch 5 innings. I'd say it's a success if he walks 4 or fewer batters.
