  1. The way Cameron and Hall are hitting I would go with Counsell over either of them. Especially with a righty on the mound. You want a power hitter in that situation. Best case scenario for Counsell is basically a double. Sure Cameron/Hall are slumping but they can also hit bombs. I'd rather not see a slap hitter in that situation. If Yost doesn't PH for Gwynn in the 9th (which I'm fairly certain he won't), I'll be pissed.
  2. I look forward to our 9th inning order of Dillon-Gwynn-Kapler. Back-to-back days with our worst hitters coming up in the 9th. I know Hall is bad against righties, but I wish they'd use him to PH for Gwynn, at least Hall could possibly hit it out of the infield if he somehow connects. Edit: Forgot about Cameron too. Why not use one of them there? Disgusting.
  3. Wow that was a bomb. Unfortunately it'll probably just create another ounce of false hope http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif. Come on Prince, do something here!
  4. My god what a way to go into Fenway, ugh. If we get more than 2 runs off Broxton/Saito I'd be pretty surprised.
  5. Isn't this guy supposed to walk a lot of batters? The only reason he has one is cause pitchers have been afraid of Prince.
  6. Even though I think a struggling Cameron is better than TGJ, I'm just happy he's not batting 2nd. Apparently Blake DeWitt a late scratch for the Dodgers. Hopefully it's only a one day thing.
  7. Did anyone catch what he said during the Astros series about Tejada? Something about "If you're not walking a lot you know you must be hitting pretty well." I would've been dumbfounded, but then again it's Bill Schroeder. He also said the other day, when posed the question of "What comes around first for a hitter, patience/walks and then hitting, or hitting and then patience/walks." Of course he said that hitting comes before patience/walks. He must've missed Week's last two months last season.
  8. Don't most Cubs fans flat-out hate Jim Edmonds? It seems like it would be them signing Ryan Braun in the twilight of his career when he's 38.
  9. Are they more likely to bring up a position player or a pitcher? If it's a position player Branyan or Nelson would be cool to see come up for the BoSox series.
  10. Once a game is way too much. I can't say I watch too many games in which guys like Juan Pierre and Chone Figgins are playing, but I'd have to imagine if they don't attempt to bunt for hits that frequently.
  11. He'd pitched 3 of the last 4 days, including 2 innings on Monday. Mota was the pretty obvious choice for the situation, even though it (obviously) didn't work out. I can't blame the offense for not scoring off Broxton/Saito either. Both of those guys have mind-boggling K rates, so I can't say I was upset the 7-8-9 hitters for not putting up a fight.
  12. Obviously Boston knew about this promotion and that's why they're having Beckett pitch Sunday http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif.
  13. In his defense, he homered off Penny yesterday. But man did he have a tough game at the plate tonight. Prince's defense (or lackthereof) has always really bugged me, but tonight he gave himself a chance to showcase how bad he is. I know, he's a big guy and it's tough for him to have good range, but I'm boggled by how many routine scoops he just doesn't make. There's been at least two this year where I'm pretty sure the average high school first basemen makes the scoop. The grounder he missed tonight, as someone mentioned, was as routine as you get. I also remember the pop up he flat out dropped in foul territory a few games ago. I guess I don't get how it's possible to be so bad at the easiest fielding position.
  14. 1) I highly doubt the reason Mota pitched poorly was because Torre had the ump check the ball. 2) If Mota was in fact "shaken" by it, he probably shouldn't be pitching for a living. He essentially faced the bottom of the order (with Ethier pinch hitting). He should've got the job done, plain and simple.
  15. I sort of have a spin-off from that. I worked at Mitchell International last summer loading luggage for Skyway. The overhead bins were pretty small so when travelers were walking to the planes you kind of had to gague if their bags would fit or not. Several times I'd see a bag would be too big and would tell the person that I could put it in the cargo bin for them. Somewhat often the following conversation would occur: "Would you like me to put that in the cargo bin for you? It won't fit in the overhead." "Oh, but I need something from in here." "Well you can take it out and I'll put the bag in the back." "But I'd rather just take the whole bag with me." " It won't fit though." "..." "Okay well you can go try but you might have to take it off." *Five minutes later flight attendent walks off the plane to hand me a bag to add to the back*
  16. A lot of my friends who like The Simpsons always tell me that it was so much better the first few seasons, but whenever I catch old ones in syndication they're never funny to me. Maybe it's because I see it too infrequently, but I don't remember ever thinking "Wow, that was really funny!" Family Guy on the other hand has certain episodes that make me laugh my ass off. Sure there are often dumb moments and some dumb episodes, but I still find a lot of them hilarious. I think the chicken scene is great, and also when the "Oww" Peter scene drags on for a minute. I guess it all comes down to what type of humor you prefer. I"d be interested to see how the age of the poster compares to answers in this thread. I'm sure this has a lot to do with it as well. I think I would've been 1 or 2 when The Simpsons started so I never really saw many episodes from the first several seasons. I'd imagine some of the younger posters would prefer Family Guy to The Simpsons, and vice versa. And since someone brought up South Park, I think it's terribly overrated. I've seen a good 20-30 episodes and I've probably laughed hard about 3 times total.
  17. Pitching matchup tomorrow certainly favors the Brewers. Hopefully Sheets can recreate opening day of last year. Or maybe just have like a 7 run lead when he leaves so when the 'pen gives up it's usual 2-4 runs it'll still be a comfortable win.
  18. I can't believe how painful it can be to watch this bullpen. Even when they hold/save a lead it's never ever easy. With that being said Prince deserves some blame for the loss. That was the definition of a routine ground ball that he messed up, there's no excuse for that.
  19. He's called strike 3 on the outide corner a handful of times tonight. Whether or not they think it's a strike haven't they learned yet?
  20. This is a serious question, has anyone in history said "Herky jerky" delivery besides Bill Schroeder? He's the only person I've heard say it.
  21. He must've read BTA's comment to someone about "If Jaun Pierre can get a job playing baseball you can get a job" or something to that effect. I sure hope Dillon or Weeks bats here but I kind of doubt it.
  22. If the Brewers score 2 runs off Saito I'll poop my pants.
  23. Did Kapler come in on a double switch? Otherwise it's Counsell-Gwynn-Kendall. Then again it's not like Kapler is that much better an option than TGJ.
  24. I know it doesn't matter what player gets the win, I'm just saying I'm sure a "W" for Parra would probably make him feel good with the way he'd been pitching earlier in the year, that's all.
  25. What a sham that Manny won't get a win. I hope a lot of those boos were also directed at Prince.
