  1. Yay McClung. Parra pitched very well, it's too bad it seemed like every batter was up there for 6 pitches (LaRoche's 13 pitch at bat didn't help). At least the 'pen is fully rested.
  2. At least they're taking him out for the righty. Even though it's a no-brainer I'm somewhat surprised, I thought Yost wanted Parra to pass up Lester's 130 pitches last night.
  3. Why would Parra bat last inning with already 100 pitches, plus the top of the order coming up? It doesn't make sense.
  4. I know Cameron should've been safe, but why in the heck would you double steal with Prince up?
  5. Brian Anderson just pronounced OPS like "Ops", as in short for operations. Wow. Bill also enlightened us by saying a good WHIP is somewhere between "One, one and a half." That's like saying a good OBP is somewhere between .320 and .420
  6. Weren't some people predicting the Tigers to score 1,000 runs? It's probably more crushing being a Tigers fan than a Brewers fan at this point. At least they have the Pistons and Red Wings...
  7. Well the Brewers get to face a lefty starter for the first time in a while, not that the offense has been the problem recently. Parra's been pitching better lately, hopefully Prince will remember 1B is the easiest position to field and Hall remembers if he continues to stink on defense he won't be starting every game
  8. So it's 3:21 AM and I'm bored/not tired and I'm looking around at fangraphs. Sheets's '04 K/BB numbers are literally "off the charts", might be the first time I've ever seen that make sense.
  9. Either would be annoying, but I definitely don't want them to win the World Series.
  10. Youkilis might have made the Top 10 Most Hated list; not to Sheffield, Bonds, or Zambrano status, but somewhere around Kirby Puckett and Derrek Lee status. Just curious, but why do you hate him so much? I hate the Red Sox fans but I actually like some of their players, and I like Youk a lot.
  11. It seems like the last 3 weeks I've been thinking, "The Brewers offense will heat up, the Cubs offense will slow down." Over 1/4 of the way done, Ryan freakin' Theriot has a .413 OBP, Soto has an OPS over 1.000, Dempster is pitching out of his mind (35 hits allowed in 57.3 IP, what's up with that?). Lee has been slumping the last few games but it doesn't even matter because Soriano has been red hot in the mean time. I mean there's no way they're going to play .622 the rest of the way, is there? It is worth noting, though, that against teams that aren't the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Cubs are only 17-16.
  12. The Brewers face a RHP probably 3-6 times every week. Having Counsell and Gwynn start that many times a week would make a huge dent on the offense. Cameron's played in 17 games. Braun had an OPS of .640 through 17 games. I'm in no way suggesting Cameron will be as good as Braun this year, but you can't form any opinions on a guy after 17 games, especially after he's played about 12 seasons. I'm not buying into the fact that he's declining a lot with age, he was still pretty good at age 34 playing half his games at the Polo Grounds. The only thing Counsell brings that Weeks doesn't is defense, which shouldn't warrant him getting several starts a week. I'm fine with Weeks getting the day off once a week but that's about it. I'm all for bringing up Branyan and giving him some starts at 3B against righties, though. For the actual lineup I wouldn't mind seeing Hart and Weeks switching spots in the lineup. Hart took more walks last year batting 1st than he does now batting 5th so he can change his approach, and Rickie can swing a bit more freely and flash some of his power as well. I mean if people want someone who can be a run producer batting 5th, Weeks has the same amount of XBH's as Hart.
  13. Are you implying that he thinks only his teammates need to improve? Besides, would you have rather he take walks over the 7 bombs he's hit in the last week? No, but I'd rather he swing at fewer pitches outside of the strike zone, I don't think that's being too needy.
  14. Well fortunately I'm going golfing this afternoon so I won't be subject to torture yet again. I can't believe I spent 6 hours listening to the games on the radio today, ugh.
  15. Amen to that, about the only positive to today. Well that and Corey Hart doubles his home run total for the season.
  16. Maybe the whole series will be rained out and we can reschedule for a time when Sheets and our newly acquired SP are ready http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif.
  17. The natural rivals thing is kind of a joke. I know it's cool to see NY/NY, Chi/Chi etc., but I'm pretty sure Detroit and Arizona are "rivals." It's weird that there's no real set rotation for teams you play. I remember a few years ago you'd play teams from a certain division, but now it just seems like they pick random teams.
  18. I'd be fine with 5 wins. Six wins I'll be happy. More than that I'd be ecstatic. Even 4 wouldn't be all that surprising, but 3 or less would be miserable.
  19. The thing is, it's not really so early anymore. It's over 1/4 of the way into the season. The only offensive players who you can say are hitting "well" are Braun and Hart, but Hart has shown little power. Hardy's been better lately, Kendall's been pretty solid and in some ways maybe even exceeded expectations, but that's about it. Hall/Cameron/Weeks have all been doing pretty poorly (except for Hall's HR numbers), and Fielder hasn't gone on any of his tears where he hits 4 homers in a week or whatever. I obviously knew not every player would duplicate '07s numbers, but for Hart and Hardy to have a combined 2 home runs is sad at this point. Hall and Weeks hovering around .200 after 40 games is sad too. Add the poor bullpen pitching and inconsistency from the starters, I'm surprised the Crew are only a game under .500
  20. If the Brewers score 10 or more runs I'll probably go (or at least attempt to buy tickets). I'll say they score 9 runs total, putting me on the fence of whether or not to go.
  21. But the thing is, naivin, the worst case scenario for any 3 of those options is obviously an out. The best case realistically for Counsell is a double, which would be pretty hard to score Prince in that situation. The best case scenario for either Hall or Cameron is a home run. Also, just because a player is slumping doesn't mean they'll automatically make an out.
  22. JohnBriggs, Martin was going to start until DeWitt was a late scratch so Bennett started (which is disgusting considering he was 4 RBI today...) I still agree with you though, starting Kendall so much is ridiculous. They always have to make a positive spin out of it too, "Shows you how much he wants to play!" "I guess he doesn't get tired idn't pardner." Playing 10 out of every 11 games is bad.
  23. Tony Gwynn Jr. has no value for this major league team.
  24. I am in no way blaming Yost for this game, however: Not pinch hitting Cameron or Hall for Counsell in the 8th is so stupid. "Omg Hall and Cameron haven't been hitting, AND Counsell is a lefty, why would I ever pinch hit for him?"
  25. I'll be happy with 1 out of 3. I hate saying this but they basically have to win both the Pirates and the Nationals series.
