Good grief defense… -
Would really make things interesting (if there is less control) for the guys that come out hot out of the gate, this gets them to FA sooner, but also less of a chance for guys to prove themselves… I would anticipate with less cost controlled years, more clubs (and potentially players) seeing a mutual benefit to locking in pre-majors service deals. all be told, might be a gravitational shift that puts more $$ in the pockets of younger players but also far less potential for 30+ year old players to cash in unless they are truly elite. I actually prefer paying on potential rather than what was done in the past.

I agree. We haven’t lost any playoff series because of Murphy. We did because our elite players didn’t get it done, and because the Dodgers had about 10 elite players to our 3. given how well our pitching kept us in the games against LA, what we really needed was an elite bat or two. many people have commented (and I believe they are correct), that the challenge with the brewers offense is that we score a huge number of our regular season runs off of opponent errors and walks. When the Bench gets shorter and we face only elite pitching, that has made it tough to score because our opponents in the playoffs don’t beat themselves.

I didn’t see any posters complaining about Drohan. Kid pitched very well. They were complaining about our defense being crap yet again which led to all three runs. i think the frustration was with the offense through the first 5 innings which had not produced much against a starter that has been shelled in pretty much every start the past 2 months on his way to the worst ERA in the majors (worse than even Sproat). I agree that overly negative posters are exhausting. So are “homer” fans who post everything is great no matter what.

Which is why we need some backup players who aren’t batting below .200 with an OPS below .550 Doesn’t seem like a big ask

I think the poster who posted that was frustrated that Perkins and Rengifo are still on the roster. I’m not sure why you think that means that posted wants Arnold fired. i’m guessing 95% of the posters at BF do not believe either of those two players belongs on a MLB roster

No… which is why is we really want to win at the NLCS and or WS level, we’re going to have to take some calculated risks.

Who is saying Murphy and Arnold are problems? There is a difference between disagreeing with an incremental decision each of them might make like (playing, keeping on the 26 certain players), but some people act like any constructive criticism is a demand someone be fired. objectively we can all agree that Rengifo & Perkins being on the roster have cost us games, and Frelick and Ortiz have both struggled. similarity, we can all agree that injuries have forced Sproat, Gasser, Crow, and now Drohan into the rotation with some success but significant struggles as well. part of the fun of being a fan is being optimistic about how we can get better (especially in our case) without severely mortgaging the future.

Heck of an outing for Drohan! Really should be 6 IP 1 ER thanks if we account some generous scoring for the offense and brewers shaky defense in the 1st. hopefully the bullpen can get us 9 outs

Murphy is a great overall manager. We simply win (regular season) games u see his leadership and a clip that very few can match. He’s an average gameday manager though. Still puts him in the top 5, but if he could get into the top 1/3 or even top 5 for gameday management, then we’d really be cooking. unfortunately, to win the in playoffs we need an elite manager in all facets of the game given the talent gap.

But to get the 1 seed might be tough with 40 more Sproat/Gasser starts as well as 300 more ABs for Perkins, Rengifo, and Sanchez

I’d say the clear goal should be the #1 seed. If we don’t get that, we’ll need to likely win a best of 3 WC series, and then beat BOTH Atlanta and Los Angeles. with the 1 seed, we only need to beat a WC team in a best of 5 divisional round and then either LA or ATL. We might get lucky and ATL beats LA. I think last year proved how important the 1 seed is, not just the bye. Given how hot the Phillies were at the end, I’m pretty confident LA would have eliminated us in the divisional round last year

Dumb question about Brewers TV. Is there a way to “unsubscribe” for next season and just go year by year. i know MLB discloses their intent to auto renew automatically each March 1st

I really like this thinking and aligning the ultimate package to health. that would be catastrophic for us to trade three great prospects and then the anti-Sabathia happens and Skubal only lasts 1-2 starts
