Rare start against a RHP it looks like. It sure helps our team power to have Vaughn and Bauers both in there -
Probably the best roster we could try it out there with our current 26. Hopefully with this lineup, there isn’t any reason to do a pinch hit. then again we would have Mitchell on the bench

I really like Sal. He was a solid player that turned himself into an extension candidate last year. his stats have been lousy this year, but I’m good (given his 2025 season) to ride it out… provided we aren’t also providing roster spots to Perkins, Rengifo, and either Hamilton/Ortiz. ideally, we keep Hamilton and Frelick up, send down Ortiz, and DFA Perkins and Rengifo. also, would place a call to SF about a backup catcher swap

Fair enough. The great thing about a message board is being able to debate/discuss during the downtime between games. 2 years from now, Sproat could be a Burnes level starter (which would be amazing for the Brewers) or he could be out of baseball completely. I guess time will tell. i think it’s fair to both be excited by his potential (for some) but be frustrated with his (thus far) poor performance.

Sproat is literally dead last in the majors for ERA after 10+ starts. He is objectively terrible. Yes he throws fast and could get better, but he is literally the worst starter in the majors with 10+ starts. somebody brought up Peralta last night. Freddy’s worst season with 10+ starts was an ERA of 4.25 and a WHIP of 1.14. he had a rough season as a reliever in 2019, with a 5.29 ERA and 1.46 WHIP, but he got only 8 starts and mostly came in out of the pen. sproat is a 6.17 era and a whip of 1.56. As soon as we have a better option, it’s common sense to replace him in the rotation. Let him be the bullpen long man and pitch in blowouts where his learning curve doesn’t put us in a rough position to win. i get we are 6-4 in his starts, but that has been primarily as a result of a strong offense. for those who think Sproat is our next star, what exactly do you seen in his performance that makes you think that? Do you have any data that shows that someone can get rocked for their first 10 starts and then becomes solid?

Totally agree. Give up 1 run, 3 runs, 18 runs, doesn't matter if we can't hit. Rengifo, Perkins, & Sanchez need to go. One of Hamilton/Ortiz needs to go. Sal Frelick needs to get sent down. Bring up 5 of our young players now and see what they can do. If they start out great, awesome, less to acquire at the deadline. If they struggle, an upgrade over those 5-6 contributing very little should be relatively inexpensive to acquire. Of the 6, I probably keep Hamilton (expert baserunning). We need a starting infielder and starting outfielder for sure. I'm good with Lockridge as the 4th OF

I was frustrated watching him pitch last year.... but the guy took the ball every 5 days and was pretty darn effective last year. "Big Game Freddy" was usually my last choice to be on the mound though. Harrison and Miz are fun to watch. I don't mind Patrick, Henderson, or when he's healthy (Woody) Gasser/Sproat/Peralta, not so much

This! He is and ways a lottery ticket. Could end up being something, and could be AAAA fodder. thus far, he hasn’t shown me anything yet. Not saying he won’t, I just get irritated when we have AAAA fodder starting, but proven MLB pitching like Patrick coming out of the bullpen. Then again, it sound like Patrick likes coming out of the bullpen and pitches better when he doesn’t know he’s going to be pitching, so there is that. with all the injuries, we don’t have 5 options better than Sproat at the moment, but I do know that we only have 2 pitchers (healthy & better) that Patrick in our starting rotation.
