  1. Yeah Braunie! Time to get red hot! Liking what I'm seeing from Suter so far!
  2. Wow. HUGE. Maybe we turn to Hader for the two inning save? Or bring JJ back out for the 8th and Haderade for the 9th?
  3. Especially after yet another walk. Must be contagious. I give the Twins credit for being patient at the plate.
  4. Yikes Santana... that was right down the middle. What exactly were you looking for in that at-bat?
  5. Well done Suter... I think if we can get one more inning from him untouched, time to pull the plug
  6. Suter got out of a massive jam in the 2nd... let's see if we can out out of this one. Jesus has to make that play
  7. Good to get the double play, but a bummer that it was not an inning ending GIDP
  8. Man, our offense continues to struggle, and I'm not sure what our obsession with bad MINFs are, but CC sure does a nice job handling this bullpen
  9. Reverse jinx worked like a charm Braunie with a few more hits today
  10. Hammel now with a no-hitter through 3 innings... cue the ESPN Homepage banner for breaking news
  11. Well, going into tonight, his OBP with the Brewers was .387. Fair enough, but his .174/.204/.304 should get him a one-way ticket to AAA now. Villar has atleast one hit in every start (except 1) this season and sports a .342 batting average (including .314 coming into tonight) and was 2/3 already in this game. Why not let him keep raking?
  12. I guess I've missed how good Barnes has been absent his 4/7 outing... Point stands on Sogard. No reason for him to be on this team. Villar has been our hot hand lately, but we take him out in a double switch? Why not keep him on the field and take out Sogard instead?
  13. I don't understand what value (if any) Barnes has to this team. Get rid of him, Sogard, and Drake tomorrow please
  14. Ironically... if there has EVER been a player in NFL history willing to pay the price of a franchise tag (two first round picks?) it might be for Aaron Rodgers... so I'm not so sure even the Franchise tag would keep him here if he really wanted to go...
  15. HighHeat- In the 40% chance you give us for landing Yu, what would be the factor that tips him to us? City = Chicago > Milwaukee (in terms of what he's stated he's looking for) Weather = push Winning = Chicago did recently win a WS and have a loaded lineup, though we potentially could be formidable Short of us offering more $$/years, what would sell him on coming here?
  16. I really appreciate the offers that the Brewers have given Brewerfan.Net posters over the years
  17. Using my best "William Wallace" voice.... New York Mets, I said I have an offer for you To the Brewers Amed Rosario Dominic Smith Gavin Cecchini Thomas Szapucki Noah Syndergaard Yoenis Cespedes $45 million to cover Cespedes bloated contract To the Mets Matt Garza Willy Peralta Aaron Hill Martin Maldonado Chase Anderson Do this, and there might be redemption for your for your antics during the Carlos Gomez fiasco. Do it not, and may you be cursed for 100 years like the Chicago Cubs.... AND BACK TO REALITY Any chance we do a complete 180 and find a way to sign Lucroy to a 3 year extension. Maybe 3 years/$60 million? I absolutely hate seeing Buster Olney say we must trade so and so player because they are approaching free agency. If we aren't going to get value, i agree with holding Lucroy atleast until the offseason and maybe even long term. If we can't get a minimum two of of Rosario, Smith, and Cecchini, hang up on the Mets and tell them not to call back. They can enjoy the whooping the Cubs put on them in October
  18. After the 2009 season, in which the Twins were again frustratingly eliminated by the Yankees, I could at least look towards the future with a smile given that Mauer would be a long term Twin and the future was bright... At that point, given his first 5 seasons, it seemed Mauer was on pace to become the best catcher of his generation, maybe ever. After three batting titles, three gold gloves, and an MVP, it seems like things have gone horribly wrong... He had three very good years (OPS in the .860 to .880 range) in a four year span from 2010-2013 sandwiched around an injury plagued 2011 season, but his last two years, which also saw a switch to 1B have been mediocre with a .732 OPS last year and .712 OPS this year... Looking back, was his 8 year contract signed in 2010 for the 2011-2018 seasons awful at that point. I realize most people would have predicted a move away from catcher in the latter half of the contract, but to fall from a player with a career OPS at age 30 of .870, and who had a career OPS of .890 when he signed the contract at a premium position... I'm hoping that the Twins will continue their resurgence, and the Brewers, through re-loading will maybe make an EPIC world series possible sometime in the 2018-2020 range, but it kind of sucks to think about all the players I followed on both teams from 2004-2014 are really unlikely to have any impact on those teams at that point. Serious question. If Mauer's contract was up this year (he's got 3 more years), would he even be a full time player next year? I can't see how a team would play his .710 OPS at 1B unless they owed him 3/$69.
  19. BUMP. Now that we are through 80% of the season and Lucroy (with a hot month of September) could enter the MVP discussion, what say you? Given how well he's played, it seems unlikely that we'd pass on his $5.25 M option for 2017. If we could sign him for 3/45 for 2018, 2019, and 2020, would you do it? He'll be 29 in 2015, 30 in 2016, 31 in 2017, so that would cover his age 32, 33, and 34 seasons. I realize it is unlikely that he'll make it another 6 years as our regular catcher, but given our struggles at 1B the past two years, we could move him there. If he could put up a .825-.850 OPS (.300/.375/.450) line, I think he'd be really valuable. So long as our team didn't become a blackhole at catcher, keeping his bat in the lineup and keeping him healthy would be huge. If we wait until after 2015 and he puts up another monster season, I think he'll be looking for (and likely would deserve) a pretty monster deal. There is some risk in a 3/45 deal, but I also shudder to think what our offense will look like with no Ramirez, Gomez, or Lucroy, and a declining Braun.
