  1. Oh, that makes sense. It's tempting to mock Cardinals nation as if they have anything to worry about - but how do you improve on a run like they had to end the 2011 season? Plus you lost some pretty big cornerstones, on and off the field. I can empathize with that, though I don't expect to be empathizing on April 6 when some red clad yahoos talk trash about juicing.
  2. Yeah, either mail or visiting the ticket office works. On game days/nights, go to window 5, which is designated for season ticket customers. Because we don't live in Milwaukee, we often call or email our ticket rep first, then arrange to bring the tickets to exchange to window 5 next time we are in town for a game. That way we can take our time on the phone choosing new seats, rather than hold up the window 5 line trying to decide. (Not going to lie; I wish more customers would do that.) For what it's worth, in the course of doing business at window 5 last year, we were offered a free seat upgrade twice - both times from terrace to field seats. For one game in 2010 we saw our ticket rep on duty at window 5, stopped over to say hello (there was no line) and he gave us a couple of $10.00 concession vouchers. Random, but nice.
  3. I'm not certain this answers your question, but last year we used some for season tickets we exchanged for another date. So the seats we wound up with were not our season location, nor were they for a game in our package. But season tickets were still involved, and I think that might be a requirement - otherwise how do the Brewers know from/to what level to upgrade you? I'm not a ticket rep, so check with yours, and if you care to, follow up here with the answer.
  4. I heard Carp was shut down (at least for a ST start) last week and was pondering how to comment on it without bringing a world of bad karma onto us. The 'explain to his son' meme was fun while it lasted, but jebus, look how their 2011 season turned out. Perhaps he borrowed Jeff Suppan's hotel room pillow? Has he publicly blamed anyone from the Brewers' organization yet? I haven't felt thrown under the bus in a while. Could the bulging disk be a result of too much cussing? OK, I'm done.
  5. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120308&content_id=27107138&vkey=pr_mil&c_id=mil This link is to a brewers.com release that fleshes out the information in my lead post just a bit. What I found notable (read:a little weird) was that the "Bernie's Chalet" custom-item store being added to the field level Hot Corner will include, wait for it, "a glimpse of the inside of Bernie Brewer's bedroom." Not sure fans were clamoring for that, but there you go.
  6. Aw, man. One thing we do now when a family pet moves on is to imagine former playmates being reunited 'on the other side' or various generations of family pets meeting there. Here's hoping that Cleo and Viggo meet up soon. It's easier to say, but try to give thought to the good things you were able to do for Cleo. That's what she thinks of when she thinks of you. Take it as easy as you can.
  7. Note the time change, because of the time change most everywhere in the lower 48 except Arizona. Subscribers with MLB Gameday access can hear today's broadcast at brewers.com. 2B Rickie Weeks CF Carlos Gomez LF Ryan Braun 3B Aramis Ramirez 1B Mat Gamel SS Alex Gonzalez C Jonathan Lucroy RF Norichika Aoki RHP Yovani Gallardo Nyjer Morgan is held out of today's lineup as a precaution after he was hit in the head by a Barry Zito curveball on Saturday. However, he's not thought to have suffered a concussion.
  8. Does it count for any All-Disappointment Team street cred if I own a game-worn Hernan Iribarren jersey? Because I do. I also have a Jason Belcher broken bat, won in Brewerfan's very first IGT haiku contest in 2005.
  9. So, another "winter" meeting has come and gone, and this was a good one. We had awesome digs in the back of AJ Bombers Madison - courtesy of recte! - and geeked out on baseball to our collective hearts' content. The food was good and the service top-notch. Thanks to Invader3K for getting the ball rolling on this year's event, recte for running with it and providing a great venue, and to each of you who made the trip. We'll aim for a Milwaukee venue next year, provided the world doesn't end in December.
  10. The last few years, our regular-season tickets have been delivered via USPS Priority Mail. Today, we got the upgrade vouchers (our reward for renewing early), with a letter indicating that most season tickets will begin to be mailed the week of March 12.
  11. Hi. Although I had all off-season to go through the Gameday programs I picked up in 2011, I didn't do it until today. After making sure my 2011 set is complete, I have an extra of almost all of last year's regular-season programs. If you want one, some or all, send me a PM. Mostly I'm interested in clearing out some space, so unless you want a bunch mailed and the postage turns out to be hefty, I'm not insisting on something in return. Here's the list (edited March 11): Issue One (Ron Roenicke on the cover) Issue Two (Border Battle; brat vs. Chicago dog) Issue Three (Shaun Marcum) Issue Four (Mark Rogers) Issue Five (Ax, meaning a photo of an axe to depict the Ax Man) Issue Six (Brewers All-Star candidates) Issue Eight (2011 Draft) Issue Nine (Rick Kranitz) - Have two extras, to satisfy multiple Kranitzheads. Issue 10 (Zack Greinke) Issue 11 (Red feathers, to depict Cardinals) Issue 12 (Green Week / recycling logo) Issue 13 (Kameron Loe) Issue 14 (Jonathan Lucroy) Issue 15 (Mascots Mr. Red and Barrel Man) Issue 16 (Brewers Community Foundation Week) - Have two extras, since everyone loves the BCF. Issue 17 (Ryan Braun) Issue 18 (LaTroy Hawkins) Issue 19 (Yovani Gallardo) Issue 20 (Nyjer Morgan) Issue 21 (K-Rod) Issue 23 (Randy Wolf) Issue 24 (Bench Strength, no players photographed) Issue 25 (Best Fans in Baseball) - Have two extras. Who knows, you may be in the crowd shot. Issue 26 (Prince) I also have a Timber Rattlers Playball! program from their June 2011 series with Peoria (with one game played at Miller Park).
  12. The lineup for the other side of the split squad: CF Carlos Gomez RF Nyjer Morgan 3B Brooks Conrad 2B Taylor Green 1B Mat Gamel LF Caleb Gindl SS Cesar Izturis C Martin Maldonado DH Brock Kjeldgaard RHP Wily Peralta
  13. This one's on WGN, if you can tolerate Bob Brenly. 2B Rickie Weeks RF Noricihika Aoki 1B Travis Ishikawa 3B Aramis Ramirez SS Alex Gonzalez C George Kottaras LF Logan Schafer DH Mike Rivera CF Corey Patterson LHP Chris Narveson Deploy Narvottaras.
  14. I thought about starting a Ticketwatch thread earlier this week but figured no one would see season tickets before next week at soonest. But then you have pretendastronaut's experience, which will now have me on high alert for the mail delivery from today until they finally arrive. Thanks a bunch! I think it's safe to assume that the interest in 2012 season tickets increased at least as much as it did after the 2008 postseason. I'd have to look it up, but I think 2009 was the last year we got a fan's choice package - and although our family section preference kept us in the same section for all 20 games that year, we moved around the section more than had ever been the case before. By mid-09 we had resolved to switch to a preset plan for 2010 and have done so ever since. It is nice to not have to wonder what seats we'll get for each game anymore, but that doesn't mean I won't geek out mightily whenever the box arrives. Last year our two 20-packs arrived on March 15.
  15. I was reminded late in the 2nd half that the game was available on ESPN3.com and connected just in time to see Rob's last 3-ball (aka the dagger, perhaps). Better late than never, Rob. Rob Wilson was even trending worldwide on Twitter for a bit.
  16. Today's lineup for the "good guys": CF Carlos Gomez RF Nyjer Morgan LF Ryan Braun DH Travis Ishikawa 1B Mat Gamel 2B Brooks Conrad C Jonathan Lucroy 3B Zelous Wheeler SS Cesar Izturis LHP Randy Wolf So. Wolfcroy instead of Wolfottaras. Anyone want to guess the number of E6s today?
  17. Now I don't know whether to root for or against the Redbirds.
  18. Don Walker posted the following on JSOnline on March 8 (http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/141916283.html). If you're like me and thrive on ballpark minutiae, this will probably interest you: Sorry to those of you who really geeked out on "old" 2008-style nostalgia. Here's hoping the Brewers soon have reason to 'upgrade' the 2011 party suite.
  19. Do you think they've actually stopped? I'm not saying for sure that I wouldn't respond similarly if someone wanted to contract my team.
  20. It's good to know I'm not the only one who still thinks of theft upon hearing the name "Mike Leake."
  21. So you're not considering bringing your children. Anyone need directions to AJ Bombers? It's the corner of Gorham and Henry Sts, a block off State. Remember (if you're not a Madison regular) that you can't drive on State, Gorham is one-way going west, and Johnson is one-way going east. Here's a map showing public parking lots/ramps in downtown Madison: http://www.cityofmadison.com/parkingutility/maps/Downtown.cfm No. 2 on the map is across the street from AJ Bombers, but it's a fairly small surface lot. Nos. 6, 7 and 8 on the map are larger ramps, each within a few blocks' walk.
  22. For what it's worth: We usually exit EB94 at Blue Mound Road and stay there until the turn onto Story Parkway. Last year's road work didn't slow us down all that much, even on weeknights when we'd be there during the 5:00 hour. It sounds like this year's road work is more of the same, just on a segment west of what was done in 2011.
  23. Your home team lineup in Maryvale: 2B Rickie Weeks CF Nyjer Morgan LF Ryan Braun 3B Aramis Ramirez 1B Mat Gamel SS Alex Gonzalez C Jonathan Lucroy DH Brooks Conrad RF Carlos Gomez RHP Zack Greinke
  24. 3600 North 51st Avenue. The main-drag intersection is Indian School Rd and N. 51st Ave. Have fun!
  25. There are people in my life who are true fans of the Cubs, not unlike we are of the Brewers, and I would be genuinely happy for them if their team ever ascends that far again. Pretty smart of the commercial makers, though, to not show the goon fans that give the organization a bad name, or the apocalypse that would surely follow such a feat as the Cubs winning it all.
