  1. It took me a while to get over Pat Hughes' departure - and Jim Powell has since become my primary broadcaster fan-crush - so I'm willing to give Joe all the time he needs. As at least several of you know, I'm already a fan of Joe just for his willingness to interact with fans. As for that home run call last night, the initial FSWI angle made me think it was foul, so I wasn't excited by the play at first myself.
  2. Yes, the fan guide is a handy reference. On top of that, the staff at Guest Relations get a "concessions item matrix" (spreadsheet printout) for each game. This shows which stands and portable kiosks are open for a given game - which is relevant for, say, early spring weeknight games that are not sellouts. One of our terrace Guest Relations pals had two copies for a low-attendance game last May and gave me one. Perfect for a minutiae geek like me. The printout I have covers the field, loge and terrace levels.
  3. I'm sure mine is a minority opinion, but gah, the Iceman. I know he's beloved and all and he goes to Maryvale and I don't begrudge him any of that, but his "YYYYYYYYYYYO!" flat out haunts my dreams. And every time I'm on the loge (even if I'm just passing through), he's near me belting out his YYYYYYYYYYO!s. My guilty pleasure sausage of choice at MP last year was the Cheesy Grillwurst, and it doesn't appear on the "Hot Cheese" menu anymore. At least we found a Klements equivalent at Woodman's, so I'll just enjoy them at home.
  4. I know, small sample, but it does seem like there's quite a dropoff between the A-level of the bullpen and...the others.
  5. If I ever need my meniscus repaired, I want whoever did Corey's to do mine.
  6. Yeah. Well, I did say "maybe get a step ahead." /waving at John and/or Cait, in case you decided to update the music list based on this thread/
  7. The color of the infield dirt was just about the first thing I noticed upon entering the seating bowl on Friday. It'd be interesting to know what's up with that.
  8. It seemed like everywhere I looked this weekend, concession stands were offering BBQ beef brisket in various formats. OK, not quite literally, but the emphasis on BBQBB seems to have increased. BBQ beef brisket baked potato? I'm waiting on a BBQBB cupcake next. Also, in food-based MP minutiae, there is now a pulled pork parfait Twitter account (@millerparkpork).
  9. Sunday in the loge, I had pretty decent 3G coverage and was able to do some tweeting, though I usually opted to, gasp, watch the game. Edit: I suppose that could either be due to the change in seat location or the 25% smaller crowd. Time will tell.
  10. Hey, let's update this for 2012, and maybe get a step ahead of brewers.com. For everyone who's hipper about modern music than I am, which is many of you, it's common knowledge that both ends of Wolfottaras are using Tool songs so far this early season. (Everything I know about Tool I've learned since Friday.) Help me fill in the gaps. Here's what I noted so far, with a couple of hints from the pre-game scoreboard: Corey Hart - Same music as last year (Until the Whole World Hears, Casting Crowns) George Kottaras - Sober (Tool) Mat Gamel - Drinkin' Beer & Wastin' Bullets (Luke Bryan) Yovani Gallardo - Same as last year (My Time, Fabolous)
  11. We had nothing else to do after returning home from Sunday's game, so our Easter night was partly spent watching today's giveaway DVD of the 2011 season highlights. It's put together well enough - about 55 minutes. No games shown in their entirety, but there were highlights of frankly more games than I expected, with plenty of player/RRR/Uecker commentary. The only thing I'd have liked to see included was Bob's call of the NLDS series-ending play. The video is there, and the TBS audio. The JSOnline stopped including "game wraps" in their BRN podcasts late last September, so although I have heard the call a few times, I still do not have a copy of it. Edit: I'll add that I was puzzled by Corey and Nyjer's choice of accessories for their commentary. I won't say more lest I spoil it for the rest of you.
  12. I can't say I was "feeling it" on the defense after watching A-Ram in Sunday's game. But I won't write anyone off after three games.
  13. Well, I still like having live baseball back in my life, but I'm now looking forward to April 17, when I'll finally see a team not named STL at Miller Park for the first time since 10/7/2011. And on the brightish side, the Classies only make one more trip to Milwaukee this season, and not until July. One weird thing from today's game that I don't see mentioned in the IGT was Robb Edwards' uncharacteristic announcing error. For the starting lineup, he announced the Brewers SS as "Alex Rodriguez! Rodriguez!" Then he did it again at A-Rod/A-Gon's first at-bat. Really? No one in the press box said anything after the starting lineups? Robb got a Bronx cheer from the press box area fans once he finally got the name right. The Brewers are ahead of their 2011 pace after 3 games. It means no more than the 0-3 start did last year, but just saying.
  14. I'm pumped for this one. Sunny day for a drive to Milwaukee, a return to our beloved central loge seats, AND Wolfottaras. Win! please.
  15. On the other hand, the routine of calling games might be just what Bob needs. That's the kind of thing that's different for everyone. I believe I read that the memorial service is Monday morning and (as of Saturday), he intended to keep up his normal broadcast schedule.
  16. Hey! The Brewers are off the schneid! I guess the Ryan Braun drama won't cause an 0-162 season.
  17. More off-field minutiae: there is now a Twitter account for the Pulled Pork Parfait (@millerparkpork).
  18. The home run inning is back! and the prize this year is a Woodman's gift card. I didn't realize Woodman's sponsored anything.
  19. I was dismayed enough to see as many as I did yesterday. It's probably my non-competitive XX chromosomes talking, but if I lived in another market, I'd be content to let the home fans have their opening day in peace. In that specific sense, I'm not looking forward to seeing the STLs come out on Sunday.
  20. Ah, It's one of those mute-the-TV games. Fine. Here's hoping Joe Block has a happier 3rd inning to call today. Get back on the bike, Brewers. Also, Save Us Zack Greinke!
  21. I'd forgotten until Friday that our terrace seats are next to one of the stairwells. So I had no luck with my Sprint phone yesterday, but would like to get away from the concrete corner before I declare it a brick anywhere in MP. Next chance comes in the loge on Sunday.
  22. Oh, my goodness. Kalle and I are friends on Facebook and last fall he posted several wonderful photos of him, his fiancee and the Zebra mugging for the camera (mostly in 'beast mode') during the postseason. Of course, I had no idea Andrea was ill. I'm so sorry for your loss, Kalle. Your post is terrific and a great kickoff to the 2012 season.
  23. Don't act like Cardinals fans either. How many times am I going to have to mutter something about glass houses under my breath after the classiest fans in the universe take aim on Ryan?
