  1. Adam McCalvy and other sources say there is free live audio of this game at brewers.com. Your starting nine, plus Marco: CF Norichika Aoki RF Nyjer Morgan DH Rickie Weeks 1B Travis Ishikawa SS Alex Gonzalez 3B Taylor Green C George Kottaras LF Brock Kjeldgaard 2B Eric Farris RHP Marco Estrada Remember, it's just a spring training lineup.
  2. When we finally got cable in 1993, it was right at the start of Championship Week and we watched games like last night's pretty much the whole first week of cable. That got me hooked. It wouldn't be March at the hawing household without our watching some mid-major conference champion go crazy while I chant "16 seed, 16 seed" or, nowadays, "You're the play-in!" (clap clap clap-clap-clap). Like with Western Kentucky. Honestly, in some ways I enjoy Championship Week more than the actual big dance. Same goes for the WIAA hoops tournaments.
  3. Yeah, the Izturis experiment isn't working today (in the field, at least).
  4. It even seems to be reliable...in a small sample, of course.
  5. A night game, in Arizona in March? Yup. The game is available on MLB Network or MLB.TV. Brewers' anticipated starting lineup: DH Rickie Weeks RF Nyjer Morgan CF Carlos Gomez SS Alex Gonzalez 1B Mat Gamel C George Kottaras 3B Taylor Green LF Norichika Aoki 2B Cesar Izturis LHP Chris Narveson
  6. I noticed the dead air as well, and what seemed "dead" to me about it was hearing almost no crowd noise between pitches. 6600 fans in an open stadium won't sound the same as 20-40K in MP. I'm not willing to pin all the dead air on Joe.
  7. I noticed the same thing. I don't know if I blame him. I liked that Uecker said soon after, of Joe, "You're gonna like him, folks."
  8. Well, you know, 5 times 4 = 20. I suppose this is what spring training is for. Luuuuuuuc with the Brewers' first hit of the championship pre-season! Nice.
  9. I'm listening to Joe's first third-inning broadcast and I like what I hear. He sounded a touch nervous when bantering with Ueck at the top of the game, but not now.
  10. The ability to establish that 30-day wait was one of the (few?) areas where the previous forum host was more functional than this one. So for now, it will be harder for us to screen out folks who are here solely for marketing.
  11. That, or he's just simply not a Packer fan. Based on his avatar, I'd go with the latter. Well, yes, it's that. RFC is a nice guy, so I was trying to describe it in a more genteel way - because on a baseball forum, no one should have to apologize for his/her football preferences. (Or in my case, absence of football preference.) Back to the photos?
  12. I think Right Field Coder prefers that the Brewers and Packers universes remain separate. In this case, it's hard to avoid overlap when Ryan and Aaron are buds and Aaron visits Maryvale.
  13. It's coming down pretty steadily in Madison right now. Like a shotgun full of snow.
  14. I find I have to check the "Attach a signature" box every time I post. If there's a more global setting, I haven't found it yet. It's mildly irksome, but our previous forum host was a lot more irksome. Edit: Found it. Go to User Control Panel (upper right of screen), Edit posting defaults, and there's a checkable box for "attach my signature by default."
  15. I guess Brewers fans will have an early opportunity to see how much classier (or not) the Cardinals' organization is. I will be surprised if I don't feel like muttering something about glass houses on April 6, as I fully expect whoever from the STL fanbase attends the game to be all "juicer, juicer" on Ryan. I hadn't thought about the divisional banner, though, so that makes it even better. I'm not as down on the accomplishments of 2011 as AJAY is. I remember being in a mini-funk about this time in 2009, after pondering that the Brewers might well have peaked and we'd never have a another season as fun as 2008, but 2011 was a blast too. I don't know how I am maintaining an open mind toward the future, but somehow I am (and in saying this I don't mean to imply that AJAY and others who feel as he does are close-minded). I am puzzled that the Brewers would pick a STL game to give away the 2011 highlights DVD. I understand wanting to maximize turnout on Easter Sunday, but how many of those are going to wind up in the hands of STL fans who can't possibly have any interest in them, beyond gouging Brewers fans for them on eBay?
  16. Yup. Davy and Marcia. http://www.billboard.com/photos/stylus/1715859-davy-jones-brady-bunch-617.jpg
  17. I'll defer to 1992casey for a true explanation, but the same thing has been happening to me on PC and Mac desktops. I haven't timed it, but I doubt you get more than 30 minutes of idleness before the logout.
  18. I wonder if any of those who are 'vehemently' unhappy about the appeal result would be motivated to tamper with some future Braun sample, just to show that MLB was right and their process is sound, so there.
  19. http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/obit/story/2012-02-29/obit-monkees-singer-davy-jones/53304196/1 Ah, geez. And Davy was the youngest of The Monkees. I was born just a little too late to take note of The Monkees' original airing, but my S.O. was right in the target audience. I'm going to have to break the news to him now.
  20. It's basically a not-so-covert smear campaign at this point. Wait for some one to chime in saying, "One time I overheard Braun say he wished he could hit more home runs!" Remember when Michael Jackson died and several Brewers used MJ songs as walkup music for a few games? Remember what Ryan used? SMOOTH CRIMINAL.
  21. nooooooooooooooo i want it i want it! odds are they will still be for sale when you arrive in august at the fanzone inside the stadium. I'm not fully confident of that. There was surprisingly little Bierbrauer gear in the store last year; I don't know if the Brewers were skeptical that a German-themed shirt or jersey would sell well in Milwaukee, or what. Maybe one of us can help you out and have some gear waiting for you by the time you arrive.
  22. While I predict you'll enjoy Miller Park in August, it's too bad you can't visit on July 1, which not only features an Italian bobblehead giveaway, but is also Italian Heritage Day. The Brewers' jerseys that day will read "Birraioli." (Here's hoping they sell shirts with that design.)
  23. I didn't see your original post, but you probably want to aim more for being assertive in the workplace (not aggressive).
  24. Wow, Teatoe, your pal Milton is a good looking dog.
  25. The Brewers are reporting that between season ticket sales, group ticket sales and the 101,000 single-game tickets sold today, they've already sold 1,587,000 tickets for the 2012 season: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120225&content_id=26858530&vkey=pr_mil&c_id=mil Three games have already sold out of individual game tickets: April 6 (not necessarily a surprise) April 21 (Saturday, vs. Rockies) May 12 (Saturday, vs. Cubs)
