  1. Yuku? With issues? I'm SO glad this doesn't directly affect Brewerfan anymore. (Not to sound completely uncaring about BSC's access to the BPS.)
  2. This year's Arctic Tailgate (marking the start of single-game ticket sales) is Saturday, February 25. Arctic tailgaters can begin camping no sooner than noon on Thursday, February 23, and the Brewers have a mess of rules governing campouts: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120208&content_id=26611238&vkey=news_mil&c_id=mil A small number of Opening Day tickets will be available, only to persons visiting Miller Park. The first 2000 fans in line will get a hotdog and soda, and an Arctic Tailgate T-shirt. Watch the Milwaukee local news for footage of zachlaka! And if anyone who's going doesn't want their shirt, I know someone for whom it would be a terrific February 25 birthday gift. Just send me a PM.
  3. OK. How can this be a 'bombshell' if ESPN has been predicting it for over two months?
  4. But is there a date plus a year? When I click on the link above, I get a generic TWC "enter your zip code" screen. I'm hopeful, but I'll kind of believe it when I see it, assuming the HD broadcast makes it to outstate FSWisconsin.
  5. Nyjer on his cat Slick Willy: "I let him clean himself all day...and beat me at Connect Four. That is love." Beautiful. If I didn't love my current signature I'd totally switch over.
  6. That's a sharp avatar, too.
  7. Aw, you guys are so nice. (Not that the rest of you are jerks for not replying. ) RockCo, if it's not too late and it's not a huge problem for you to go back out, I'd appreciate a copy. I'd be happy to throw a buck your way for the trouble. Even if Zurch also gets one, I'd keep one clipping for myself after making sure my mom gets one. Once either or both of you has it in hand, let's move this to PMs so you know what to clip and where to send it. Thanks a bunch.
  8. Hi. The February 14 edition of the Janesville Gazette should include the obituary for one of my aunts. It's already online, but I know my mother would appreciate having the actual clipping. If you get the Gazette and can spare the obituary page from February 14, please let me know. Then you and I can both see how private messages work in this new location! Incidentally, she was a Brewers fan, and especially of Rickie Weeks (although that does not appear in the notice, probably since I didn't write it). Anyway, thanks.
  9. Some time ago I had a February 14 dental cleaning, and all the hygienists could talk about was their Valentine's Day gifts. Everyone got a bouquet of flowers except one hygienist who got an orchid plant. She was mortified, because it wasn't what everyone else got. I tried to tell her that her sweetie was thinking outside the box and orchids are pretty and an actual plant would be longer lasting, but nothing would convince her.
  10. You put her name on the shirsey? If you put a Brewer name on the back, you have to tell us which player. The hawing household doesn't do Valentine's Day. The S.O.'s birthday was a couple of weeks ago and mine is next week. So there are times I point out that it's the (approximate) 10-day warning for birthday gifts. Edit: Tonight the S.O. killed one of those ugly zillion legged horrible bugs that was poised to leap on me as I went down the basement stairs. So I'm going to count that as a good Valentine's Day deed.
  11. We attended a Royals game in KC in 2003 and are considering going back this year for the Brewers series. My memory is of a huge parking lot - it's shared with the Royals' and Chiefs' facilities. We arrived early for the game we attended because we were determined to get the giveaway t-shirt (40,000 given away in 40 minutes), so parking was definitely plentiful when we arrived, but I don't remember any particular delay getting out. We didn't buy our tickets all that early, so we were under an overhang. This would have been nice had it been raining, but did obstruct our view of the scoreboard. The stadium has also been renovated since we were there. So I'd welcome viewpoints on where it's good to sit. The other thing I remember about that night was the Royals had at least 12 hits, which meant fans could redeem their ticket stub for a free dozen Krispy Kreme donuts. We didn't redeem ours, but was that fanbase ever psyched when the Royals were at 11 hits for the night. Then they went ca-ray-zay. I still have the T-shirt (powder blue retro look); in fact, I wore it the rest of the weekend that Greinke was acquired by the Brewers. Good times.
  12. Holy coincidences, Batman! I saw someone wearing a Miami Marlins cap this afternoon at the State Street University Book Store.
  13. Pitchers and Molinas report on the 18th; the others by 2/24. The Brewers' first full day in Maryvale could be my birthday (2/25).
  14. I don't think anyone could be hired as Bob's broadcast partner without Bob's blessing.
  15. I don't have my bearings with the new software, so I can't help with the featuring yet. However, count two attendees for the hawing household.
  16. I can't speak for all the lots, but the Molitor/Giants lot north of the interstate has for about the last season and a half had row numbers painted on the blacktop, at each end of each row. That's how we keep track of where we parked.
  17. Ah, nuts, so it is. Well, I'm enthusiastic about Joe Block anyway, and not solely because he has sent me several tweets.
  18. I'm going to bump this so it's easier to find (absent a search feature, for now) once we start hearing Joe in action. I have been happy to see that he's open to tweeting to fans. Cory Provus was within his rights to maintain a distance while with the Brewers, but more than once during his tenure I found myself a little envious of Braves fans, who had a ready twitter ear in Jim Powell.
  19. You're freakin' me out, dude. February 11 hasn't even HAPPENED yet.
  20. Definitely agree with the competitive bidding. The Padres used to be on the local Cox Cable channel so I'm sure a part of the price was getting them to move to Fox Sports. Not sure if Time Warner Sports could really compete with FS Wisconsin, but it would be good to at least have tried to receive a competing bid.I understand the value of a competing bid, but is there a valid potential competitor to FSW with statewide coverage? (I say that realizing that Fox Sports Wisconsin coverage is disrupted by FS North programming at times.) I don't know how far Time Warner coverage extends to the north of Milwaukee, but it definitely doesn't reach Madison. When a market is as spread out as the Brewers', I don't know how real competition becomes available.
  21. As the Badger Herald stated in a relatively clever headline last season, "Can't stop the flat-top." http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gifI fell asleep when UW was still ahead with 2:00-something left, then woke up well after the game ended. I was surprised when the SO told me the Badgers won in overtime.
  22. Ugh...I hate Easter Sunday games. There's no way I can make it to this game with all of the Easter activities going on with my family. I actually have tickets to this game as part of my 10-pack that I'm going to have to sell. If anyone gets an extra copy of the 2011 DVD's I'd gladly take it off your hands. http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gifIf you have multiple tickets to this game, couldn't you sell them on the condition that the buyer saves one of the DVDs for you? My extended family has never been big into Easter, for whatever reason, so we're free that day and excited that there will in fact be a 2011 season highlight reel. That seemed like the kind of thing the Brewers would/could have sold in time for Christmas, and when they didn't I started to wonder. I get the Brewers' strategy in trying to boost attendance on a Sunday that might not otherwise be a full house, but I wish they'd picked a non-STL day for this particular giveaway. Any of their faithful who are into the Cardinals enough to travel to Milwaukee/MP on Easter Sunday probably have their own 2011 highlights DVD (or, I shudder to think, DVD set) already; and although you'd think a fanbase as classy as theirs might include individuals who kindly offer a Brewers fan their unwanted freebies, imagine how much they'll go for on eBay instead. Anyway - it's hard to imagine that the April 8 game will be the lone opportunity for fans to get these highlights. The Brewers could easily sell copies after that date.
  23. Maybe once pitchers and Molinas report, every day is a business day for MLB?
  24. It's easy for me to say, but if Ryan has to be tested more often in exchange for no suspension, I'd take that. I'd like to think that a 'clean' year after more rigorous testing might cut down some on the masses who have been assuming since December that he's a cheater.
  25. I just spent the last few hours of my day off listening to Bob and Cory's call of NLDS game 5 on the gameday audio archive. Took me right back to Miller Park last October 7. Adding to the crazy: the game time temperature was 78 degrees. SIGH.
