  1. I've only gone to a game by myself once. Usually it's just me and the S.O. I enjoy the games when my brother and nephew come along, or when we sit with like one other ardent fan (so don't worry, thablingster, you're good). But when the group is bigger (like my library peeps or the S.O.'s family), I get distracted more often, my focus on the game is not as strong and I sometimes get irritated by that. If I didn't have a terrific baseball partner in the S.O., I wouldn't rule out the possibility of continuing at least my season seat, but I wouldn't pick as high-profile a location as Front Row Amy's. I like our current locations too much. Front Row Amy hasn't begun following me on Twitter. Of course, I totally lack Invader-level Twitter cred. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. Well, Casey, make the case for your continued playing time. We're ready. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. The same music accompanied Prince's first at-bat on Sunday.
  4. If anyone is in a chatting mood, or just wants to celebrate the miracle of an operational chat room, stop by.
  5. I'm OK with Front Row Amy being married. Just saying. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. Mitch Stetter has been promoting the Twitter hashtag #yearofthebeer. That's not really a team nickname, but I like it.
  7. No fan base? Funny, that wasn't phantom money we've been spending since 1993 on season tickets, or phantom miles we've put on our car on hundreds of County Stadium/Miller Park round trips from Madison. Yet apparently we must not exist. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif 1-0 for Tuesday, Brewers. Do not let up.
  8. I thought I'd read a quote from Rick Schlesinger that indicated the Brewers did not necessarily expect to top the 2008 record, but did expect to reach 3 million. That would give them leeway for some under-40K crowds. Indeed, here is the brewers.com link. 10,000 tickets sold per day lately. That sounds impressive to me.
  9. Yep, here is a link. Nice job (again), Brewers fans!
  10. Bear in mind that the 'second home game' in 2008 was an "if necessary" game 4, and wasn't a sure thing until the Saturday game ended. If the Brewers have home field advantage in a 2011 NLDS, they'll definitely play both Saturday and Sunday, as those are truly Games 1 and 2 in the series. I realize that football makes a difference too, but I think the "if necessary" component - combined with the Brewers' losses in games 1 and 2 - also contributed to the relative value of that second home game.
  11. The S.O. and I ride the bus to campus in the mornings. We often see the Metro administrator on our bus. We all like baseball, so we often talk baseball on the bus. Last week I asked if he could get Metro buses to run a GO BREWERS message on their route signs (as they have done for years with the Badgers and Packers). This morning he said the messages should start appearing after September 1. I am thrilled! I'm so accustomed to the Brewers getting at best third or fourth sports priority around here (after Badgers, Packers and preps, mostly football), so today I feel like the Brewers matter just a little more. So, Madisonians, if you see GO BREWERS on the front of a Metro bus, now you know how it came to be. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm seriously going to keep my camera with me for a while so I can snap a photo. If I get one I'll post it.
  12. You're right - wonderbread. Either way, I'm pretty much that. That and I probably spell too well in my tweets to get Nyjer's attention.
  13. I suggested to Nyjer Morgan via Twitter that he or someone should adopt the theme from S.W.A.T. for walkup music. He did not reply, no doubt realizing immediately how plain Jane whitebread I am. The walkup music for Prince's first AB today sounded like the 21st Century Fox introduction. If that somehow continues the theme, then I am not sure where he's headed with it.
  14. http://uploads.kidzworld.com/article/27116/a2456i1_josehernandezw.jpg Seriously? You all held off on a Jose K photo so I could post it when we got home from Milwaukee? You guys are the best. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif Also, sorry to bust your dream there, Backupcatchers.
  15. I wish I'd known...we sat two rows behind your group. You had a Greinke jersey on? I did not take a photo of the junior announcer appearance, but I think I might have a photo of your kids. I'll send you a PM about it. Anyway, she did a fine job, and the S.O. and I did applaud her upon her return (though I don't think any of you noticed). That row 6 of 217 is usually where the junior announcer party is seated, so we often see the announcer "up close." Oh, boy, I had a baaaad feeling about the top of the 9th. I didn't realize how bad until the game ended and it felt like my first normal breath in a while. I know a loss today wouldn't have necessarily spelled doom, but I didn't want to see the cub fans around us celebrate any more than was necessary. Otherwise it was quite enjoyable, though I picked the wrong time to visit the restroom (missing the Greinke SB and Hart HR). I also totally called Corey's leadoff single, thus finishing off his within-24-hours cycle. I'm sure that exists as a stat.
  16. Off we go to Milwaukee. 1-0 for Sunday, Brewers.
  17. I appreciate the enthusiasm and creativity with which so many have contributed to the magic number thread - almost as much as I appreciate that a "magic number thread" can legitimately exist on this site - but if we're going to allow "Packer crud," I think we have to allow "Bear crud" as well. Unless...we want to keep this thread free of all "NFL crud." Personally, I could go for that because I'm not an NFL fan. But in my mind, the most important thing is celebrating the gradual reduction of the magic number in as many ways as necessary (within forum rules), so I'm more an advocate of live and let live. Here's hoping we move off this one today: http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRIwNlmP61u4ZTGyjoD9ZIlEGzy4gfhYiQiD508oALpB4TNI6Ba_A
  18. Sorry. If the Brewers' magic number changes on Sunday, I'll be at MP and you all can post before I get a chance.
  19. http://i24.ebayimg.com/05/i/001/1c/53/9eaa_35.JPG Someone had to.
  20. Nice start. Real nice. The chat room appears to be cooperating this evening, and if someone else joins tomwopat and me I won't feel as bad about getting something to eat. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. Someone we know is giving us their copy of SI, so we won't have to buy one. Early leads are early. Take that, Glove Flipper.
  22. Pittsburgh 7, St. Louis 0, and you know what that means... http://www.juannieves20.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/juan_no_hitter1.png http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ2QPiqWXB2noUx93V054Mw8fqPicI8JR_ieD6LOdSU3IXQ8QWbFQ http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/host.madison.com/content/tncms/assets/editorial/5/ae/5c0/5ae5c00d-1f57-5af1-96d0-8a5600eff410-revisions/4c256e6c7cbde.image.jpg
